The fact that this level of talent isn't front and center in the popular culture makes me so sad. Rory is RIDICULOUSLY talented, and deserves 10x the success.
The meaning behind the song and lyrics create the additional weight for this song. It's not just an alt metal song, it's a song he wrote for his late father, and expresses the emotion and thought process from that experience as much of this album does. The album also expands on that experience, and also mends that - with the experience of the birth of his daughter. His vocals and songwriting are incredible. Too much Love for Dayseeker>>>>>>

Dayseeker has so many good tunes...wish you could react to them all. Rory Rodriguez would really be up there with the greatest singers of our time if he wasnt in a metalcore hand. His more stripped down acoustic tracks are more of my jam. He doesnt need all that production in his voice because he sounds just like this live
Just discovered these guys a few days ago. Really enjoying the music. My only gripe is that they use the same song structure over and over and don't change it up much. Same can be said about a lot of these modern metal core bands. Spiritbox for example.
sounding commerical is part of metalcore in a sense, well if an artist deems it, metalcore utlizies elements from all genres but tries to have antagonistic hardcore elements to create a sense of contrast, im sure youve noticed from sleep token you can have jazz infused songs, pop choruses, some blues, heavy breakdowns and growls, rap is common too, plenty of shoegaze stuff which btw check out Loathe theyre an incredible metalcore band with a unique shoegaze style, dayseeker have like a 80s pop synth vibe. Another stand out bands this year are invent animate, theyre new album went nuts, currents too. Honestly theres years of content in metalcore to check out haha
Rory is insanely talented. Neon Grave is about losing his dad. If you want to hear something harder, Crooked Soul from their album Sleeptalk is one of my favorite songs of theirs.
Fuck yeah, dude. Dig more into them, you won't be disappointed. Lots of really cool, and different, sounds. I can definitely see how the first listen would feel commercial, but I think if you listen to a bit more you'll really start to grasp the unique nature of the band. I would recommend "Without Me," or "Sleeptalk" (the song that put them on the map) next. Rory (the singer) also has another project called "Hurtwave" that is more retrowave and electronic that is less well-known but really sick if you are into that.
I would tell you to listen to the most popular dayseeker songs but the most unique one i believe is. crash and burn. the song just builds up and is completely different tone by the end.
