I am lying in bed in my seventies bedroom ...with the mustard swirly wallpaper. The smell of smoke is curling up the stairs, along with the faint laughter, the sounds of glasses tinkling. My mum comes in to check I’m ok - she’s swaying slightly - the party is in full swing. All I can feel is mums perfumed hand stroking my head , all I can hear is happiness and love, and James Last, Herb Alpert and Burt Bacharach All is well with my world.
