I thank all who help feed and help people in such need. I had to leave my home with my kids for safety and I hadn't thought about food in the hurry my kids were upset they were so hungry and being a panic mom this food pantry by a church were we sleep in the car took care of our tummy so I thank everyone who does this for that I was blessed and today were in our home away from harm and that's thanks to people also. No one should stay in a unsafe home of abuse. Thanks for your love

Thank you for saving and sharing! It's a shame how much food is thrown away. Most food is good way past the date, so we use the eyes and nose test to check. It may lose some nutritional value, but it will not hurt anyone.

Tj maxx near me in Brisbane would not reduce a set of coffee cup down for me as one was chipped . They said they could not sell them as there was one broken . I was disappointed that they wouldn't reduce them .

In the UK most of the dumpsters are locked up behind high metal fencing or the dumpsters themselves are fastened shut so you can’t get into them

Crack eggs open, and pack 3 or 4 in a small zip lock baggie and freeze them. Stack them in ur freezer. Eggs r freezable.

Eggs that are fresh,,and more than you can use,,,,,can be made into noodles to preserve them,,,dry the noodles for a few days,,and they taste better than store bought,,,,

I would have grabbed all the eggs and frozen some in ice cube trays then put them in gallon freezer bags and got out what I needed for recipes or just to scramble

When I saw all the eggs they through away it hurt my heart
I know we went to Sam's Club for groceries the other day and they didn't have any eggs at all completely sold out. It's sad when meat and other meat products are thrown away it takes so much for these little animals to feed people and so much is wasted.
Especially as high as eggs are
Its amazing how wasteful some stores are when the expiration date is nearly up, also that date sometimes its the plastic of the container that expired and starts to leech into the product.
You can take flour and water and make a dough and mold it in the shape of ceramic missing pieces and let it dry, then paint it, and glue it in the ceramic.

Sorry for the late reply.. If we know the trash trucks are going to come soon then we try to go back and save what we can. If they aren't being picked up that day we will leave it for other divers.

Hi Julie, most of the juice we find is still within the best-by date or just a few days past (They don't go bad right away). The stores have to constantly clear out the inventory so nothing is held very long. We check all the juices to make sure they are sealed and still cold (The ones that are kept refrigerated). Not all juices need to be refrigerated once you open them they should be refrigerated. There are lots of juices that are stored on the shelves in grocery stores (Apple juice, V8, cranberry, grape juice...). You need to check the food you find and you can tell if it is good. Just like you check the food you have in your fridge or cupboards. We know some people look at it as bad but we clean what we find and we check everything. We find stuff in the blessing boxes that some people donate that are years past the best-by date because they clean out their cupboards and donate what they don't want. The stores can not keep anything past its best-by date so anything we do donate is still within or very close to the best-by date.
