    Learning Polish language will open many doors for you in Poland including making new friends. You can not expect every Pole to speak English - it is not possible. Best of good luck!

    Don't worry summer will be much better people will be happier and friendlier, winter is always depressing and people smile less because they don't have enough sun. In Poland, real life begins with the first warm and sunny days

    I think your video does not tell as much about Poland and its culture, as it tells about yourself and your culture. In this aspect it's truly interesting and informative. :)

      I also think ur video don't say much about the culture in Poland. Besides the fact ur English it's so hard to understand I couldn't picture a clear idea about life in Poland. Very disappointing....

    you must remember that in a country like Poland there are 4 seasons, that's why some fruits and vegetables are expensive in autumn and winter because they simply don't grow locally, they have to be imported from other countries, e.g. from Spain, which is why they are expensive. Tomatoes and, for example, strawberries are very popular and cheap in Poland, but in summer. this is season based cooking you eat what is available at the time of the year. you will see in the spring and summer will be full of cheap fruit and vegetables and delicious dishes available

    There is over 46 Polish meals cooked with tomatoes also over 80% of Polish meals includes onions. The one thing we Poles love is Onions and garlic a lot of foreigners actually ask us what is our obsession with onions. We do talk on trams, trains, buses but we do it quietly because it's considered rude and disrespectful to talk loudly or be on your phone on public transportation, in Japan for example you will get kicked off the public transportation if you start talking where other passengers can hear you or you talk on your phone on Public transportation. As a 50 year old Polish man you got 60% of the things you said wrong about Poland. In Poland over 60% of Poles do speak English well enough to communicate with foreigners. 100 countries were ranked in their English speaking abilities and Poland ranked 16th out of 100. Poland's favorite soup is actually Tomato soup, also in Poland we love to plant our own vegetable gardens and the first thing we plant are Tomato's, onions and cucumbers. How long have you been in Poland?.

    There are two reasons why shops are closed on Sundays/Holidays:
    1.) many people in Poland are religious, these days are days of rest.
    2.) even for non-religious people like me, it is important that shop workers who usually do not earn a lot also have the right to rest with their families if their work is not absolutely necessary

  • @JimmuWarris
    @JimmuWarris 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The stores are closed on sunday because the state expects people to chill and rest on sunday. If the stores were open, the employees couldn't see their family whole week. So the government came up with this idea. There are ways to spend sunday but it isn't shopping anymore since they made law to close the malls. But if you find some small shop like żabka or private owned business, it's possible for you to buy stuff. Large company cannot force you to work on sunday but if you want sell stuff by yourself, then it's possible. If you want to spend time you can spend it with your friends, go to church, do some daily excercises, go to cinema or concerts, take a walk and so on. People don't want to sit next to a foreigner or they don't talk, because most of them are shy. They are too afraid to speak to another person. Sometimes I feel like to pick somebody and start conversation but usually I don't. I don't bother anybody, most of people just want to go to their place, to work, school or to see their family, so they just shut up and go. Older people may not know english, they can speak russian or german. But younger people mostly can speak english. If you know some polish, simple frazes, basic words and sentences, this knowledge comes handy and they are your ace. Polish cuisine is rich and tasty and we use tomatos and onions but not in every dish. Fastfood should't give you idea on what it is. Best food is made at home. Going to some restaurant which isn't fastfood is also good idea. KFC is not polish restaurant. In my opinion it's not healthy and not tasty at all. People eat breakfast, main meal at 12 to 1 pm and dinner in the evening. We have various soups, stews, pasta, potato dish with addons like fried fish, pork, rarely beef. I personally love tomatos and onions, and I love cooking them. I make stews with mushrooms or add them to scrambled eggs. tomatos also go to salads or sandwitches. The onions go on a pan with sousages or in soup or in sandwitches. We also like to eat jams, juices from vedgetables or fruits, shakes, milk and alkohol and so on. People smoke tobacco, and it's bad habit. Kids often ask adults to buy them alkohol and cigarettes which is also bad and it's a felony. I used to smoke but when I was diagnosed cancer, I have quit. I love beer and learning about different cultures. It's really nice you are interested in Poland. I hope you enjoy your stay. Good luck on your video blogging and have fun.

    Tomatoes are very popular in Poland, but not so much for cooking, because most of the year they're relatively expensive (they're very cheap in early summer and early fall). I guess in Kenya they must be used like potatoes or cabbage or bread in Poland - added to absolutely everything and anything possible :). If you want to cook with tomatoes, you can try canned tomatoes or tomato puree, not the same, but they're affordable (canned when they're cheap) and for cooking they're good enough. Of course, if you can afford it, cook with fresh tomatoes all year round :). You can get them in any local supermarket or at the market.
    As to public transport - yes, it's true, people like to have it quiet - music without headphones or talking on the phone are a big no-no. That's important to know. Actually, it's a big cultural shock for us when we travel to countries in Asia or Southern America, where you have to spend hours on a bus with music blaring! Been there, done that, and nope, while it's interesting to experience, I prefer not to have a headache ;).

    You got a chance to be in one of most developed countries in the world make use of the opportunity to better yourself, stop missing useless things back here.. only miss your family

    Few things from someone who's in mid 30's.
    Well we speak English, many of us do. When I was in school we studied English since we were 7 years old, but we even had some 'kid' classes during kindergarten time.
    Basically if you will want to ask someone who's 20-30 years old and they can't answer it can mean two things: 1st is that they were learning German in school, or the 2nd... well they've had English but didn't care much and had the lowest possible score which just allowed them to 'pass' safely to next year in school.

    Smoking is a way to meet people because you go for a smoke and if you smoke you can give a cigarette to other person and if they smoke you are friends, that is why smoking in highschool is so rampant, it is a way to social circle and friends, and that is also what adults do, so smoking ones are more cool, it is hard not to smoke in highschool and even if you don;t want to smoke, sometimes you will do it for socializing, now it may be different but it was that way when I was at school.

    I Where is any type of common sense in these kind of people like her ... You are in Poland and Poland has nothing to do with England and of course they speak Polish .Many countries been colonised in Africa by Western countries that's how English influence and language spread through Africa but Poland never been colonised or occupied by English and they have their own culture and LANGUEGE. I mean I'm not Polish or Kenyan but I'm amazed by your view of Poland compared to Africa .. Poland is very safe civilised advanced in many ways and Kenya is in no comparison apart from nature . My advice is humble your self and educate your self about other people and their ways of life and culture , many people might find Africa and Kenya weird but its best to keep those opinions to your self and accept we all have different culture . If I was african I would be embarrassed to even open my mouth about how bad Poland is because most of Africa is very unstable ,unsafe ,many kids are starving , malaria , aids , rebel dictatorship warfare, hundreds of people die everyday and it's been going on for thousand years , African people suffered a lot in the history and the past is very sad and people that educated about history knows that so its very hard to compare Poland to Kenya or Europe to africa .. GOD bless
