I love this version a lot more than the Roby Lakatos version which is more jazzy, western and more urbane. This archaic eastern style is more down to earth with a lot more energy and gypsy vitality and this is how actual gypsy musicians performed their music for more than a century in the Carpathian Basin. Just absolutely amazing!
what do you mean by ""were??"" some people seem to think that gypsies only existed a long time ago in fairytales.. Gypsymusic, traditions and people is alive and coming strong... i see it everyday
The Jazz"golden age"unfortunately is gone. Jazz became now a music for some elite. This kind of music (first, romanian song"Who put the pub in my way?"and second one,a movie music with romanian traditional sounds) has deep roots..few thousand years..if we talk about romanian traditional music. By it,s thracian origine, it influenced all traditional musics from Balkan region (anybody may observ the similarities) and later, the jewish klezmer music. Here is a band of gipsy hungarians musicians
"Summertime" is not just an American song. It's Gershwin's song. Similarly this is not just a "Romanian" song. That would imply it's a Romanian folk song from Romania. This is a song composed by the great Romanian composer Vladimir Cosma for the french comedy with the same title.
Romanians are an inspiring culture and a lot of this music is in fact, like Part3 the Hora set, is Romanian but not this particular piece and I would say these boys play more Hungarian music than Romanian plus a lot of Russian with other Central/Eastern European components. Ultimately Hungarian and Romanian music are very similar because both are played largely by gypsy musicians and both nations have roots in Transylvania where these 2 traditions meet.
ez a kapela a legjob a vilagon..geza a kirááály..csak igy továb

@first2nd2002: it's called "Cine-a pus carciuma-n drum?"
That's "Le grand blond avec une chaussure noire". Anyway, grrrrrrreat musicians!

PS : Sometimes in Romania, jazz musicians use also these traditional sounds in their compositions.

Gershwin's music is Jewish music even if he wrote it in Africa or Sydney.
Se numeste Cine a pus carciuma n drum!
Jajj de jóóóóóóóóóóóóóóó!!!!!
Maybe it's gypsy and Hungarian music, but my Jewish soul says it's my music, too. 100%.
Take it easy.

Romanian song, 100%
well, i'm not sure, but what i think is that it's actually inspired by romanian folclore, not by gypsy music....
Nekem a Csimpau kellett volna oda
thios is romanian songs
interesting twist ... labeling romanian music as gypsy and promoting as own...
