Just got this album on vinyl. It is a masterpiece. The music floats, vibrates, radiates from the LP groove. It takes me to a place that I never want to come back from.
To be fair, 1974 was full of amazing music. If you weren't listening to this, I'm sure you were wearing out all the other masterpieces released that same year.
Shuggie played all the instruments on this cut and the album really (except strings and horns). 4 years before Prince came on the scene in 78, this album had to hold us over for the one man band cats. What a natural...I still marvel at how I can hear every note so clearly. Just a great guitar player.
Todd Rundgren was playing most of the instruments on his albums in the early seventies. When Prince was a teenager he once tried to get back stage at a Rundgren concert to meet him.
uh... just off the top of my head, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder played everything on their recordings even earlier...Mike Oldfield... sure there were others...
Here Here. Just found out @work and looked it up IMMEDIATELY!!!. And I am a student of 70's funk fusion since the 90z. Ahh music. Just when U think U know! Lol
HAHAH!!! Same for me... Been listening for a few hours. His web page doesn't list any upcoming tour dates But I did sign up to his mailing list. www.shuggieotismusic.com
Instant Fan when I heard this as a random Spotify playlist discovery. I knew the name but didn't know how incredibly good his music is. Besides this Funky Soul music he's one of the best Blues guitarists I've ever heard.
Dude is dope crazy how I'm just now finding out about him but music is so vast that one could never hear it all in one lifetime even music from your generation I believe. I see modern artist like Miguel and Thundercat possibly being influenced by him
Just watched "Den Of Thieves" this Song was featured in the Movie! LOVE IT! Shuggie Otis I love this Song! MY type of Music! You have to put a hand up for the classics!

Allegedly , he turned down signing with Quincy Jones and if its true I can guess why ... QJ wanted some booty .

@@FUNKACHELI I can believe it so much stuff is going to come out about him when he dies.
