We were told to have very low expectations, especially if comparing to more traditional P&O type cruises etc. We had never cruised before, so we had no idea what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised.
We really enjoyed it. We hadn't done any cruises before so we weren't sure what to expect. We were told by a Tripadeal manager to lower our expectations as what we might consider rude or unacceptable behaviour is considered normal in China. This got us a bit concerned, but it turned out that we had nothing really to worry about. It's not a cruise like a Princess or P&O cruise, but we did enjoy it.
@ Glad to hear! We haven’t cruised either but have already been to China on a 10 day tour with Tripadeal earlier this year so we know what to expect. Overall most people we interacted with in China were very friendly and yeah there’s some cultural differences in behaviour at times but nothing really bad. We Loved China enough to go back and see a lot more on a 20 day trip next year!
This is wonderful - thanks for sharing. We are doing this via the TripADeal Grand China in October this year. Sounds like it is worth taking the upgrade of a room if offered. was it expensive to upgrade?
@mozinoz7103 yes, we did it through Tripadeal too! The room upgrade wasn't that expensive. There were several options. You could just upgrade the room, or just upgrade the dining room. There were 3 different dining room options. On our trip, everyone upgraded to the top level dining room, but not everyone upgraded the rooms. From memory, we paid about $550AUD total to upgrade the room to the highest option and the dining to the highest option.
@2shollys1show74 thank you! We booked this as part of a 10 day trip to China, through an Australian travel package company called Tripadeal. If you Google the ship name (China Goddess 2), you should find the cruise lines webpage. I'm sure you would be able to book direct with them.
Many thanks for posting , yes hard to find a true look at what to expect , we looking at doing trip next 6 mths cheers

Thanks Gareth! We're working on part 1 of the rest of the trip.
I believe this is the vessel I’m going on in May 2025. How was the cruise overall?

@@antonk6566yes this was our second visit to China too.
@@adventurefound I went to Chongqing in October 2023 and regret very much not having enough time to take a cruise to the Three Gorges.
@@max_dsouth9 it was definitely a highlight!
