That was a real surprise for me guys.A trip report in an A310 in nowadays is so rare as jumping from a bridge without a safety net.It was outstanding.I had my own experience in a KLM's A310 flight from Amsterdam to Athens , but 35 years ago.Excellent!!
We flew BOS-PDL and then PDL -Funchal Maderia where we spent a pleasant week. Returning on the twice a week Gran Canaria - Funchal- PDL with a Port.- American pilot! The next day we returned to Boston. Very pleasant and good service. I was in the service stationed at TER in the late 60s and found the Azores rather like Iceland without the ice and snow. Very little in the way of amenities. Back then the airport on San Migel was a grass field where cows grazed and had to be herded away before a DC-3 or DH-Heron could land. During winter the three airports were closed because of high winds much of the time. Had to wait it out for them to calm. Most of the other islands did not have airports as there wasn't space to build them and lack of demand for service.
My last -310 flight was on the f-GEMO some 20 years ago, bound to Dakar from Paris, the aircraft was weeks away from retirement, and was in a very sorry state, but still, a nice souvenir.
i used to work in Ercan Airport/N.Cyprus, my fav bird was A310, such a great plane, short but wide body, comfy as well when you consider it was about 15-20 years ago

Very cool video. Loved the Ponta Delgada airport and the Lajes was nice too. By the way. You got spoiled with that snack (sandwich and juice). Most airlines only give you peanuts and sometimes nothing at all. If you want a real snack you have to be on business (which you have to pay for) or first class. It was nice you were able to walk to and from the planes outdoors. Nice Lisbon aerial view and airpot too. Looks like a shopping mall.

Excellent report. Quite honestly I'm surprised you were allowed to film as much as you did. I was in Portugal (Madeira) a few years ago and they were quite strict about filming. I couldn't figure out why. I'm glad you had better luck. Regards
Stunning job! Ponta Delgada seems like a reasonable little airport. I actually hear the Heathrow voice as well as the Ding-Dong sound at boarding used in India when I last went. :) loved the view of your aircraft, and I have not seen boarding by stairs in a Q200 in ages!
just some fyi, that fog in the q200 window is sea salt, not dirty. sata wash the planes every time after the day is over but azores airports are close to the ocean (and the islands are somewhat small). i heard sata maintenence has a special program because of this
Hey Simply Aviation! Since I am friend with the now retired pilot Robert Piché, I had to tell you about this! Have you heard about the Air Transat A330-200 flight that had lost both engines, and had to glide for 21 minutes on 60 km into Lajes for a successful landing? Well my friend Piché was the pilot! They have made an Air Crash Investigation episode and even a movie about it! Sadly, he really isn't known enough for everything he has done to save those 306 on board. If ever you are interested to know more about it, make sure you check out about Flight Air Transat TS-236!
I think the a320 has a video screen for the passengers in the side. Was very happy when I got a seat directly in front of those screens. Used to listen on my headset to avoid paying air Arabia for headphones.
Unfreaking believable, I am sitting her, catching up on my Aviation video watching, and I thought to myself, that sound just like the announcements in Terminal 3 at Heathrow! (Worked there for many year a few years ago) the voice sounds uncannily the same. Maybe their moonlighting there on the days off!!
Awesome report this 310 looks likes Iran air when I traveled from Tehran ika to London heathrow I was alone in 310 like departed Tehran 7:00 in the morning
The United States Air Force has a base at Lajes, if memory serves. The duty-free area at LIS looks like a U.S. outlet mall. Try a Q400 if you're ever in the U.S. West. The only A310s flying in the U.S. haul packages.

Hahaha, very short transfer. My shortest transfer was at Singapore Changi Airport, I arrive from Sydney airport & my connection flight was the same plane at the same gate, this happened on the way back from Istanbul to Sydney as well! :D What a coincidence

Nice Video, for one of your future trip reports you should fly LAN's 767 from Madrid to Guayaquil, Ecuador, and if you have the chance you could even stop in cuenca, its a small runway and an interesting approach. :)

The ba 767 has 2-3-2 configuration It used to fly lhr-bwi but BA put a Dreamliner with a 3-3-3(767 much better)

The voice indeed is the same as on LHR. That system is called Aviavox and is used on many more airports like AMS, DEL, DOH, EIN and LTN :).

Yep, PA system is the same at LHR and all ANA Airports (in Portugal) use the same system. I find it quite soothing lol.
And the famous Lisbon Airport S1 door... entered through there many times because TAP Embraer 190 unfortunately does not use airbridge at Lisbon :(

Great video dude. I never having flight with A310. It does like A320, maybe has a relationship between A320, just like B767 similar to B757.
A300 and A310 have a relationship but it can not be compared with a A320.
