- This Swedish SMR is a top of the line military ration that is right on par with the US MRE, British SMR, or Canadian IMP - absolutely worth coming back to for other menus or it's 24 hour variant. Truly one of the best, with memorably delectable dessert snacks and smooth coffee. Up next for Sweden is a nifty survival ration and a 24 hour freeze dried version.

My bone marrow transplant nurse asked why i was watching mre review videos if i couldnt eat any food from the chemotherapy.. said it mustve been "torture"...she just didnt understand. Thanks for filling me up when my stomach had to stay empty. Really helped keep me sane and reminded of better times watching your videos from home 😊
Edit update : should find out this week if I have to do radiation to complete this treatment. Wish me luck y'all! Thanks for all the kindness everyone, it really helps getting these nice little message updates. Helps keep my mind positive!
Hope things go well for you 🍀🫂
Thank you very much it genuinely means a lot@@ktkt9982

@@zeddwulfen7737 thanks everyone for the kindness!
I gotta stick around... After all, I can't miss his next upload 😏😅😉
The musical spoon tap still gets me every time 😂
Same 🤣
I love that attention to detail
A fun thing Steve adds, I like it too
We were blessed with double the spoon tap!
I love how he does that. Always find that cool.
i will never not be fascinated by steve's appreciation for gussets
Or freeze dried coffee
Well, if the gussets are bad, than the food goes bad, so it makes sense a seasoned MRE enjoyed would make note of good container design. I'm pretty sure he got really sick once eating an improperly packaged MRE.
For someone who lives in Sweden, this main is very popular with my camping trips! Affordable and tasty
Do you know anything about the protein bar??
Yes!!! I want to know where to buy some. Actually, wouldn’t mind this whole MRE!
@@loonypeat312 look up 24 hour meals, they have an online store
@@aaronjohnson278 You can buy the bars on their website, just google for 24h meals. The raspberry one is out of stock though, and I have no idea if they ship internationally.
@@aaronjohnson278 most swedish outdoor equipment shops will carry that brand, I can see them in stock in several ones, for instance Engelsons (google should sort you out).
SPREAD THE WORD BOYS HE'S BACK
Dang another one...Steve's system ( body needed a good reboot) this is the 3rd one in 2 days...stocked
so you weren't there 2 days ago
You’re going to jinx it
@@Antwon22excited
And now he's gone.... For another 18 months 😂
Steve, the one TH-camr who just gets his stuff out without regard for dragging it all out in the name of the TH-cam algo.
A true living legend.
Ad free too. What a guy.
I like to imagine that Steve is from the timeline where TH-cam held onto the passion and soul it used to have before people viewed the platform as a source of income and clout.
Whenever you see a video couple of seconds past 20 minutes for mid-rolls, remember this comment
No sponsored content too.. truly a blessing
Steve is secretly activating sleeper agents with the drink taps
You are the bob ross of MRE's please never stop making these videos.
I’m lying in bed sick with a cold and suddenly the next 15 minutes will be much more tolerable. Awesome!
Steve makes any day better automatically!
Love Steve! Been watching him since.. geeze? 2015?
Me too, I'm suffering from the chinese coof. Get well soon
Same, didn't even feel like eating till I saw a new Steve video pop up on YT
hope you get well! A steve vid seems like the perfect calm thing for such times haha
A video last night,
Tonight makes it twice,
That we have been blessed by the man who says "nice".
If I ever have kids, this will be a bedtime story for them
Based poet
Nice
I can’t be the only one who says “nice” out loud at the same time as Steve when he puts everything on the tray….
M'kay you're definitely not alone.
Sometimes when we sit to eat dinner and my wife puts the food out on the table, we say nice!
No you're not. At this point, whenever I unpack and lay out something, I give it a "nice."
Lmaoo! I remember watching a video years ago when I was really into it, we literally said “nice hiss” at the same time 😂 I was tripping😂
Ummmm excuse me BUT... Its pronounced "CHREY". You're welcome :P
My family and I all watch these together and say “let’s get this out on a tray” at the same time lol
Nice!
Nice.
lets start out... with that coffee.
nice
I gotta tell you, your videos are like blood-pressure & anti-anxiety meds for me. All the terrible news, the stress of work & all the very real problems get carried away by your cheerful voice, catchphrases and love of all foods shelf-stable. Hope you enjoy making them as much as we enjoy watching them Steve.
Same man. I just started my anxiety and blood pressure medicine Monday and I sit here and wonder why I take them if I can just keep Steve’s videos on repeat at all times.
❤
The extra spoon tap made me smile
Im so happy you added the peanuts to the lentil cssserole. I was hoping youd do it when I saw it all layed out on the tray.
nice! adding peanuts is a real win with a curry
Seems like peanuts in any ration are a force multiplier. You can add them to either the main or the dessert and it makes them better
Yup. Add nuts, any tomato sauce main becomes a nice Thai curry.
@@Steve1989MRE I was hoping on you trying it with some of the fruit chews! But, it was crying for the peanuts
Could improvise a dessert with the drink mix, protein bar, strawberries and nuts
FRHs are insufficient if you are in the Arctic, so boiling the rations to heat them is usually done. You need a fire source for colder months anyways.
Though that dont mean stuff always gets cooked all the way trough.
Vivid memories of eating fish in Tomato sauce with half-cooked rice in -25 degree weather. Good times.
We still use FRHs but it's mostly specialist roles.
They look like the bags you buy grapes in at the grocery store.😂
Or a roast chicken aka bachelor's handbag
Hey if it works, it works!
@@s.h.v.c2865 Not heard that one before. Like it!
@s.h.v.c2865 you Australian?
@@plomaturbo I’m in the US.
2 videos at once? You’re spoiling us Steve!
nice!
@@Steve1989MRE You know who would really like this ration? Andy Richter the Swedish Mexican.
@@DonariaRegia That old chunk of coal?
Anyone else watch Steve before bed to help you sleep? The spoon clank is so asmr for me at this point.
I’ve had to watch his videos over a few days because its soothing , I’m out cold in minutes lol
That's what I'm doing right now.
Sleep tight everyone
BTDT! 😊
Most people don’t even know what ASMR is.
The little piff crush of the freeze dried coffee packet and the extra clink on the spoon made my day.
This may sound crazy, but this upload couldn't have come at a better time. Just got done dealing with some emotional family stuff and hard to keep my mind off of it. I love watching your videos to give me some sense of peace of mind and all of a sudden here is a brand new video for everyone. Thank you for Steve for the timing of this upload and for everything you do. Much appreciated friend.
Same with me brother..hope things get better for ya
wanna talk about it, dude?
He is very soothing. Hope this get back to right soon for you.
I hope things get better for you and your family! Keep your head up!!
Same here it’s been a rough week and 2024 this far. Steve’s videos this week were a nice distraction. Hope things get better for ya.
Someone on another video said Steve is the Bob Ross of MRE reviews. They are so right. Such a perfect comparison. I wish I could remember their name so as to give them the credit.
Lets check out that coffee is Steves Lets put a happy little tree here
Was it Steve Wallis, aka Camping With Steve? I also remember someone saying the Bob Ross comparison.
Steve and Bob are central Florida boys, and so am I. Cool see ya.😁😁
Could it have been Nathan MRE ?
@@rutabagasteu possibly. I’ll go through to see who it was.
I've been watching your videos since early 2016 with no regret. No drama, no weirdness, just your genuine self. You're one of the best channels out there and I pray you're always happy and doing well. Much love from Scotland!
I mean he ate a Boer war ration, there is definitely some weirdness
@@cthulhudreams7578 😅But it's fascinating!
I am from Sweden, and my mother works as a paramedic and was stationed at military bases a few times several years ago, and she was sometimes given unused rations, and then gave them to me. They were pretty awesome, actually - they had breakfast, lunch, dinner, berry-flavoured drinks, chocolate bars, and various other cool food items.
Did you ever get sick from them? I’ve heard some horror stories
@@ChocoLTRose
No, they were simply unused rations.
There was nothing wrong with them at all.
All of the food items were dry and made to last for an extremely long time, and they were either eaten like that (like biscuits, for example), or prepared by putting them in hot water for a while.
Glad Steve is still making videos
with the amount of additives he has , he will never stop!
Just in time for bed. Like falling asleep as Steve tells me about instant beverage powders.
😂😅
When you were putting the peanuts in the main, I was all "save them for the strawberry treat". Glad you did. Interesting no bread or crackers in this one. Hello from rainy Oregon.
This one could have used a small tortilla or cracker side, glad they had those nice & dry Valencia peanuts in there at least. Hello on back from also kinda rainy lately Florida! nice
There are crackers in the full 24 hour edition of that menu. I ate a lot of those during my year as a conscript
There is actually tortilla bread in one or two of the three menus that are Mexican inspired. And the coarse crackers are included in all 24-hour menus
Even after all his videos and all the different rations, I love how Steve still gets excited by the little things, like an exotic bean instant coffee.
Keep up the good work man, love your channel.
The videos are timed perfectly I can usually watch them right before I go to work. Starts my day off right(I work midnights)
You're a security guard in a an abandoned mental hospital too?

As an Army brat and an MRE lover since 1980(I was 5) these are always great! Thank you.
Army brats unite !!
I was an Army brat from birth till age 11. I joined the Army in 1983. We ate C rats. I didn't see a MRE until about 1985. I still have fond memories of some of the main course meals that many hated, like the beef or pork patty.
I'm a nurse and almost permanently paralyzed myself after trying to lift a patient at work (disc in lower back exploded into my spinal cord) and I watched Steve's videos during my entire 1-year recovery when being rehabbed. These videos really helped get me through that time. You're a legend man.
I’m unsure why I find this channel so relaxing, I think just watching each episode is watching him eat his way through history. Just to see what was eaten in times of war or training is crazy to see. One of the channels I’m glad I stumbled upon.
Relaxing with a nice dinner, champagne, and some Steve?
Nice.
The life of kings, or something like it
champagne is bitter.. bleurk...@@jr2904
Bet the champagne had a nice hiss.
Nice
Dueling Musical Spoons!!! Nice!!😊
All those years and its still amaze me how good you are at explaining flavor and ingredients content. I knew more about food from those videos than watching cooking shows.
Loved the content for years, and you're still a joy to listen to today! Thanks for sharing your passion with us.
hey steve, wanted to drop in and say that your channel is probably THE reason i switched majors… i came in as an english lit major, but after a year of listening to this incredible catalog of primary source material, i’m finally committing to history and archival research! next week i turn in my thesis on military rations in tang dynasty china, and i’m probably going to be listening to your playlists as i submit it LOL
I’m so glad to hear from you again, Steve! This video was great, I’m glad you enjoyed the food from my country, and I hope all is well with you and that you’re doing good in life in general! This channel is like I get to hang out with you as a friend, and that’s so nice to experience, that comfortable chill vibe.
Steve deserves a really nice hiss from all his hard work! We appreciate what you do to bring us your videos Steve! Thank you!
Missed these! I think one of the most unique things about your videos is the musical spoons, so satisfying. What a great way to document all aspects of these shelf-stable rations
I’m not sure why, but the Swedes having a Mexican based MRE is cracking me up
And that the packet seems to state it's a "Nordic favourite." It's just something that one wouldn't think overlaps
I remember when I first found this channel. Probably like everyone else I just binge watched his content until I was caught up. Even bought and ate some MREs to understand it better. Cool stuff, Steve!
I really enjoy your detailed descriptions of each food. You make it all seem so enticing & tasty.
Been watching your videos for almost ten years now and I can never get over the sincerity with which you describe every MRE. Never stop being you Steve. You're the best. 👍
Nice to see these on the channel! Used to eat the 24 hour meals packs when I was doing post-apocalypse larp a few years ago. Delicious and filling, those kept me going even on the hottest of days and the dried fruit, protein bar and peanuts were good "emergency" snacks on the go.
I love you steveeeeee❤ you’ve helped me sleep for years I’ve suffered from severe insomnia for years and I’ve struggled with substance abuse for 7 years and I just hit 6 months sober and these videos have been my life saver since I’ve got clean thank you for always being there
Six months is a wonderful start. It does get easier, believe me. I know I never would have had the great career, warm friendships, and happy marriage I enjoy today if I had continued in my addiction. All the best to you.
What a well thought out ration, looks delectable. These videos are always so therapeutic. Thanks Steve!
Your work is so wholesome and fun to listen to!
The new POV zoom ins are a nice touch! Glad you’re back !!
Just binged on his latest videos! Loved them all! Thanks Steve!
Sitting here in bed on my 2nd day sober writhing in discomfort after work. Felt the first natural endorphins I’ve had in a long time when I saw this on my feed. Thank you Steve.
All the best to you xxx
You can do this dude, it hurts to hurt, but it hurts more to keep hurting others around you. Addiction sucks. But it's just a game you're playing against your brain, and it's a game you can absolutely win. Keep it up.
Well done mate, keep up the difficult but great work - it will be worth it.
One day at a time bud. 30 years sobriety myself. For me, that’s all it came down to. One day at a time. You can do it, be strong.
It does get easier. I had a heck of a time, but last July was 30 years sober for me. I did 90 meetings in 90 days, and found a great sponsor. I continued with meetings, and It really helped to have someone to work with me through the hard part of finding the reasons for my drinking, and working on them. All the best to you.
Thanks for the reviews, Steve, very entertaining and relaxing
Hey you're welcome man and thank you too for checking them out
Hope you’re having a lovely day, Steve!! Thank you for the slew of content recently ! Keep on smashing it :)
In the Marines most of the time we threw the main course pouch in our cargo pockets and that heated up pretty decently.
Watching this channel for years.... still amazing
I always love how Steve mixes stuff into the main gotta have tht crunch!
Love seeing Steve genuinely enjoy this MRE !
It’s lovely seeing someone enjoy something that they are so passionate about.
It has been over a yr last time I watched one of your videos, my bad since I truly enjoy them a lot!!!
Nice!!!
Go back and catch up, dude. He's put up some great content in the last year. Welcome Back!
The good news is you have a lot to enjoy over the next few days!
On the plus side you have a lot of great content to binge, perfect for one of those lazy chilling at home days
I love to watch these as I eat lol, there's this indescribable feeling of calm and comfortable emiting frrom every one of these
Three in a row! Absolutely love it. Thanks Steve.
I wish the people that make these MRE's knew how much Steve loves it
As always, good things come in threes. You make us pant with anticipation, then fill our metaphorical stomachs with 3 courses at once. Thanks again Steve, your reviews set the standard.
I feel like a spoiled kid on Christmas with how much Steve has been posting recently. Thank you Steve, my end of 2023 and start to 2024 has been rough to put it lightly and your videos really do help me forget about all the fucked up stuff I have going on.
This 1 felt like a classic. Steve seemed to be really excited and the editting was on point
I love the little jingly tune you make every time you stir your coffee 😂
What a great way to end the day, Thanks Steve!
Nice
You had my mouth watering watching you eat the lentil casserole. Another delicious reaction from my hands down favourite MRE reactor.
Steve, your videos are a form of relaxation for my mental health. Thank you for these videos!

Three in 24 hours? Steve has truly blessed us. It’s so……
Nice.
Sweden has always been at the vanguard of mesoamerican cultural cuisine
Mexican mostly just means somewhat mexican spices, bell pepper and perhaps corn. Mexicana soup is an old time favorite freezedried soup
Three videos in two days?! NICE!
Edit: Steve, thank you for all the years you have dedicated to making these videos. You are... NICE!
I like your music you compose. It sounds really soothing.
Swedish Mexican Food, in MRE form, this I just gotta see lol. Great start to the year outta Steve too, big time good stuff.
*first bite he says, Curry. Man Authentic Mexican food if I ever heard of it. MRE's forever.
Omg. Thank you Steve. I’ve had a horrendous day. Your voice and video calm my nerves
Its weird when ever im sick or having bad panic attacks your videos seems to magically show up and i feel so much better.... NICE!
Nice!!! As always, great video!!! Good to see a new and up to date review.
Nice! alright cool, see ya
Steve’s vocabulary is insane
Best spoon and glass clinks, yet.🤩
thats so awesoome you added the peanuts to it. I was looking at the tray spread as you were eating the curry and I was thinking what it would be like if you added the peanuts to it as I often see you mix and match your foods then you did and said it paired nicely and with the fruit chews. always a pleasure to watch these vids!
Steve, hope you read this: I have rewatched this video (currently your most recent) about half a million times. I know it takes a lot to develop this content, but I check this channel every time i hop on YT and hope to see a new one sometime soon! best wishes and love all you do buddy
Steve back at it again and I’m here for it!
Nice!
alright cool, see ya
I mean, just the way he describes stuff...he single handedly brought the word "delectable" back from oblivion, and like the way he described the peanuts - how many of us could come up with even one or two words about a peanut? And yet, we hang on his every word. 😂
Who would have thought that "prevalent" could work as a superlative. And yet it does.
This is by far my favorite meal on cold hikes. Need to order some more for the spring-winter adventures.
Now why did I know Steve was going to add those peanuts to the main, because I would have. Steve’s descriptions of the texture and flavours of the rations he reviews are so insightful and detailed, just very impressive 👍
This man is the bob Ross of MREs, maybe the most wholesome guy on the interweb
It's definitely a toss-up between Steve and Atomic Shrimp.
I miss these
“very inviting”.. this whole video is a blissful meditation. thanks Steve
2 days in a row new video from Steve this is like Christmas all over again
nice!
Ever since I moved to Sweden I was thinking it would be so nice if Steven got his hands on a swedish MRE... THIS DAY
IS FINALLY HERE!!!
It's not the first Swedish one he's done.
Oh, then it's been a long time since the first one because I can't remember it. Maybe it hadn't caught my attention because I've moved here recently. I definitely remember when my home country was featured, though. Ill rewatch the older episode just to refresh my memory. Thanks!
Sadly he has not goten hold of a full ration from the golden tin era
Just when I was psyched about 1 video dropping, I noticed there are 2! What a time to be alive!
Three fresh videos in one day! Thanks so much Steve!
Steve you are ridiculous my dude, you can read any language out there as long as it is on a ration pack, not only that but I just now googled for "Swedish ration" since I sort of thought you never did a video on one, and you literally just upload one right as I search for it, you're a legend my man. vi älskar dig
The packages are in English and swedish
Woah! Another video? And not just one but two? You're really spoiling us with all the content man! Thanks!
Hey right on man thanks for checking these ones out! It's good to have some new videos out. Got a Vietnam survival kit up next

I like to watch these while I’m in bed. I start to fall asleep during the video and it’s so relaxing. Not sure if anyone mentioned this before but Steve is basically the Bob Ross of MREs and rations. 👍💪🇺🇸
I’m so happy to have Steve back….NICE!!!
Great to see you back. I have a question though. Is there a reason why a lot of countries use more off-the-shelf foods for their MREs instead of the simpler packaging the US uses, which I imagine comes direct from the factory? Or is this just a price thing?
