Lego Blowback Shell Ejecting Gun Mechanism Tutorial

- Here is the mechanism for my Thompson M1A1, as was requested by a few of you. I hope his helps anyone wants to create something similar. I wont be doing this for many of my future guns as they are mostly just too complicated and i don't necessarily want their mechanisms to be known.
Credit to kevin183 as this is essentially his blow back mechanism with a few modifications.

Unfortunately this gun is now destroyed so I cant. I'm sure I'll make something similar again in the future, only better. Maybe and M4 or something with shell ejecting.

A drum mag to this gun would be awesome but it would possibly be a visual change only since it would probably be too hard to implement a drum mag that works like it does in the real guns
Agreed. A stock would have been nice too and maybe a forgrip so it would be like the original Chicago typewriter. Unfortunately I didn't have enough Lego bricks at the time for all that.

Just looking back, and I'll remake this gun some day! Looks like a fun gun to play around with! Might also make full instructions for it if you allow me.
I'd rather you didn't make instructions for my exact gun as I think people should think for themselves and enjoy the challenge of trying to make it themselves. Feel free to make one for a gun using the same mechanism though. Good luck 👍

Can you make a tutorial of the mechanism just the mechanism and the walls and then you know well just have to build the rest ourselvess
The gun is now destroyed so there will be no tutorial. I show all of the working parts in this video and it's is a very simple mechanism so It shouldn't be too hard to replicate. You won't learn much by always following tutorials. Try to build it for yourself. Good luck.

It seems easy to maintain because it can be disassembled.
Yes it's very easy. It's also very reliable due to it being so simple. Actually I filmed nearly all of the shots for the main video on the first take.

Nice one! Yeah it's pretty cool to play around with. Haha not nearly as bad as my machine gun. Maybe you can add a select fire to yours? I did it to mine but didn't end up putting it in the video because it was quite unreliable and I didn't like the way it Looked.
@@patrickgrantlego I thought about putting in a fire selector, I'll give it a try when I have some time again :). How many rbs can yours hold? Mine functions with at least 20 no problem. Also I improved the magazine. I put in a spring with an axle, instead of a rb, so it's more reliable, and the bullets stay in straight
@@JoranPrins I can't remember honestly, I destroyed this gun many months ago. I guess however many I did in the video. I never really had a problem with my magazine but that's good if it helps. You must have a very long axel for that to work and not limit your capacity?
@@patrickgrantlego oh okay. My mag fits 12 shells. I used a long 16 axle.

@@tylernye5044 Yep that's right, I only have so much Lego. Sometimes I don't even make a video. I've only started making videos recently too so there are loads that I've made over the years. Sad that they never made it to TH-cam :(

No, the trigger in this is pretty much what you'd find in a brick shooter. If you want some idea look at infected bear of Kevin183 mechanisms.

how do I make the part that actually puts the rubber bands on to the part that shoots them, I am working on a non-shell ejecting gun and cant figure out how to make that. (its the gear in the back, Idk what to call it)
He showed how the release mechanism works for the gear that holds the RBs, just take some screenshots and reverse engineer the mechanism

How does the bolt go forward?
There is a static rubber band constantly pulling the bolt backwards. When a shooting rubber band is released from the gear it catches a lever which is attached to the bolt. This causes the lever to pivot forwards and move the bolt forward. As the lever pivots the shooting rubber band is released and the bolt moves back again. As the lever moves back it hits the trigger of the release mechanism and a new shooting rubber band is released from the gear. The trigger you use to fire the gun just stops the bolt moving forward so the shooting rubber band is not fired and remains on the lever.

Unfortunately the gun is now destroyed and I don't use Ldd so there will be no tutorial. However the mechanism is very simple. Put your mind to it and I'm sure you can create something similar.

Is stupid though the Magazine is only there so there are shells you Can shoot it without so why not do that
What do you mean ? Of course you can shoot it without the magazine but the whole point in this gun is to eject shells. How is that stupid in any way ?
