Okay, you need to 100% film a ProShot of the show in its entirety in THIS EXACT CINEMATIC STYLE for all to see. Complete with those steadicam and crane shots, filming it in the Cinemascope aspect ratio, and yep, those "Over the Shoulder" Close-up shots, especially the ones during Sutton Foster's version of 'Til There Was You as seen here. All of this NEEDS to happen.

Yes, please!!! I was lucky enough to be able to see the show today, because NYC isn't too far a trip for me, but there are millions upon millions who can't easily reach the East Coast (or even those in the area who simply can't afford the show). Once it's completed its Broadway run with Hugh and Sutton, when there are no worries about losing ticket sales or pirating, please bring a quality recording of this to the world! The magic of this show with this stellar cast should live on long after the curtains close!

Ask a 1,000 people who Sutton Foster is and you would be lucky if 100 people knew who she was. Ask 1,000 people who Katie Perry is and you would be lucky if you found 10 people who didn't know who she is. If you are on Broadway and far more talented then pop singers, the vast majority of people won't know who they are. Pretty much always been that way.

In all honesty, I have always looked at Sutton Foster as another Ethel Merman...loud singing. Then I hear that she can actually pull off a beautiful tune like "Till There Was You". I am impressed indeed!

@@sallyniemzyk6964 Hello, I early Ethel Merman, such as "I Get a Kick Out of You" the 1934 version has a different quality, I think La Merm is better than Sutton in that 1, and La Merm hadn't developed that the stereotypical sound that emerged as she aged. Although I do like Ms. Foster in the title song from that show, "Anything Goes," as opposed to La Merm's original. Personally, as hard-working as talented as Sutton is I wish her voice had a more distinctive quality. My personal favorite of hers is "Astonishing" from "Little Women." Yes, she does get "loud" but she has lots of nuanced touches in that piece and I love the quality of her voice and acting.

1st of all, NYC is frigging DANGEROUS!!!
I live there from ‘86 to ‘3 and used to head into the city to see at least a dozen shows a year but the few people I know who are still stuck there say they don’t go into the subway of walking around at night anymore.
2nd It’s pretty tuff to do the “Music Man” with Robert Preston establishing the role on film. And it sounds like Hugh had them slow down the patter songs rather than work tirelessly on the diction needed the make those work. If you are going to challenge a legend… you better be a legend!
Finally, even on 2019, all the Broadway shows went so WOKE they were as self serving as Disney’s and Netflix’s preaching to the “ignorant masses” don’t need to be lectured… just entertained. Thank You!

I think he has a /good/ voice, just not a GREAT one, which is the problem. He did well in The Greatest Showman, because it was written with his voice in mind - but a role like Jean Valjean, however, which is noted as one of THE most challenging male roles in Broadway history, especially in comparison to legends like Colm Wilkinson and John Owen-Jones, he just falls flat (pun intended).
Hugh Jackman seems lovely - he's a wonderful actor, can sing, and appears to be a genuinely nice person, but his vocal ability just doesn't always seem to hold up to what he wants to do. He sounds good in this though, not really a Music Man fan, but I'd watch a proshot!

@@benjaminspark2603 Let's be honest. Broadway closed in March 2020 and didn't really open again until December 2021. Beetlejuice closed in June 2020 (when everything was closed already) and reopened in April 2022. So it was a closure of more or less 4 months.
And even when it all had to do with politics and money, I'm sure the cast of The Music Man never said "kick Beetlejuice out!", so it wasn't "they" who kicked them out, meaning the people in the video we're commenting on. I think we should appreciate all the hard work everyone on Broadway is putting in to keep it going. Beetlejuice or Music Man.

So glad many posting here loved it. I admire and respect Hugh Jackman (and Sutton is a given always, though not liking the choice of hairstyle for her here), but not feeling his vocalizing here...sounds like his voice is shot, and nowhere near the presence of Robert Preston's talk/singing. Very week sounding, and the 'Trouble" song is too slow paced, losing a lot of impact in the process. Just my $.02.

It’s a very late 1950’s morality tale musical set in a quasi mythical Edwardian gilded time. Where people were letting go of repressions. This production looks rather manic and the Marion vocally belted which is kind of embarrassingly wrong. I’m not sure this was the best time to have THIS as a big revival after the pandemic was winding down frankly. It’s a sort of faith in humans thing versus crime winning. This production looks manic and somewhat edgy. I think something escapist might have been better after all we had been through. Harold Hill getting ready to fleece an entire town just isn’t cute or ironic right now.

Sutton seems nice in this (although one can't help but notice how she basically plays the same person over and over these days) but everything I've seen of Jackman in this role is intensely underwhelming. Why is Ya Got Trouble so down tempo?

I didn’t care for Robert Preston. I thought there was too much of an age gap between him and his costar.
I much prefer the 2003 remake with Matthew Broderick as Harold Hill.
