    The reason this video is so good is because it puts an image & name on certain sounds Ive heard here & there but did not understand....also it taught me some new ones worth looking into. I just leveled up again...my HP(music "Hit" points) & MP("Musical-magic" points) just went up...oh & look I got a few potions, ethers, & mega-elixirs too to heal my party members when I click share to inspire them as well. Hello Reverb! Would you recommend a dynamic SM58 instead of a cheap condenser mic (Rode NT, or similar) ? I’d like to buy something to record my vocals and some percussions, but I don’t have an insulated room and I’m stucked between buying a legendary SM58 (or 57?) or buying a condenser around $100-150. Thanks for this helpful video! 👍

    • @alexlubinski7795
      @alexlubinski7795 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Get the condenser mic like the Audio Technica AT2020 or Rode NT and learn to work with it. Dynamic mics are very universal but they don't have the dynamic range and don't capture as much detail as condenser mics.

    • @remynettheim4918
      @remynettheim4918 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DO NOT GET AN SM58 FOR VOCALS - I spent years trying to make my SM58 vocals fit in my mixes, but they simply do not catch anything above 10kHz, and sound unfixably muddy compared to everything else. Get the Rode, works like a charm, but make sure to treat your room to avoid reverb phase issues

    They’re okay for the money. I’ve had a few 57s and they’re not bad, they just have no high end (or low, at a distance). Also a bit useless for stereo applications.
    But they rule on drums and guitar cabs.

    • @MikeyRamone00
      @MikeyRamone00 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The 57 and 58 are pretty much the exact same mics. As in, they function exactly the same, only difference is the 58 has the screw on pop filter. Frequency response may be a lil difference but you more than likely couldn’t tell the difference. If you need a quick instrument mic but don’t have a 57 handy? Unscrew the pop filter, bam, instant 57.

    Can the SM58 record the damn Kazoo?!? ;-)
    I´ve learned that the SM58 istn´t good mic to record plants.
    My problem now is that I´ve already bought a SM58 that should arrive tomorrow.
    Seems like I have to look for an extra mic for the case I wanna record some plants or flowers sometime? 🙂
    By the way, the big gong was doubled in the video.... ;-)
    It was again at 01:58 between Nr.23 and Nr.24...or was that a different big gong? :-)

    I prefer the PG58. Higher handling noise, but just leave it in the mic stand. More efficient than the SM. No need to eq, unlike the SM. Plus, power switch. Same bomb-proof construction, flatter response, power control, and better efficiency = better microphone. I have absolutely no idea why nobody knows about the PG58. Boggles the mind.
