- I get the camper out on the open road after finishing the TDI engine and Passat gearbox swap, and compare it to a 70's VW camper with a similar engine conversion, thanks to Trev. How will it drive? Let's find out!

Nothing wrong with that test drive. Don’t forget the aerodynamics of the t25 high top would be hampering you too a little. Great little video series. Well done.
Thanks. To be honest the overall driving experience of it is good enough that the 0 to 60 time doesn't bother me too much. That said, I am going to check to make sure everything is as it should be.

Well done, all your hard work paid off. Those older 1.9's are perfect for what you'll be using it for. Would have loved to see the 3.0 V6 conversion you mentioned though!

I had a syncro years ago and loved it but they're getting stupid money these days so I don't think the budget would allow. I'll be covering a lot of other vehicles over the next while as well as t25s actually. Glad you're enjoying the channel!

I currently have two T25 campers. A 1.9TD AAZ and a 1.9 WBX DG.
Follow that dream! Just have some serious money aside in case a gearbox fails. Other than that they're not much harder to maintain than a standard T25. Oh and they're incredibly capable off-road.
The importance of flange should never be underestimated.

Quick question for you, did you run the standard oil capacity in the gearbox. I put the standard amount in mine because I've never seen anything else recommended. Just curious as to whether its enough
No I have about 3.5l in my gearbox. I would run more for sure.
@@Endfloat Yea can't think what I put in. 2.8 is what's in my head but think there is a little more noise than I'd like in high gears
The vw sharan the engine came out of is roughly 1700kg gvw too.
I didn't know that actually! They can take a bit of weight, so! Although the van is 1900kg kerb weight at the moment, with a dgvw of 2,400kg!
Hi. I'm enjoying watching your videos. Can you recommend anyone in Ireland or the UK who could supply and install a similar engine in my 1989 1.6TD JX T25?
Start by talking to Tim Shettle in ultimate engineering. He's near Bristol. Then take a look at the Facebook group VW T3 TDI club. I don't know of anybody in Ireland that would do it.
The Van sounds great, did you grab the adapter from Tim at Ultimate? He's a good dude, very helpful
I bought most of the conversion kit items from Tim, yes. He was very helpful indeed.

Well best of luck with it! Just make sure you get a known good engine still fitted to a car you can drive for a bit. Take a download of all the ECU figures before you remove it so you know what it should be when you fit it to the van.
Incidentally, I don't believe syncros were ever made in non turbo form. My understanding was that they always had either the 1.6 JX turbo or the 2.1 wbx.

@@Nutjobdotcom thanks very much! If I was doing it all again, I'd definitely look at putting something more powerful than the AHU in. Maybe a V6 TDI would be a nice option.
What transmission do you have? I caught the 5th gear you mentioned. Is your van a Syncro?
I have a flipped Passat gearbox. Have a look back through my videos and you'll see how I did it.
Where did you get the hoses from? I’m putting in a Audi mark2 petrol in my T25 and not sure where to get hoses from
Coolant hoses from the original 1.6td engine all fit. Intercooler pipework came from ultimate engineering.
Is that a 1.9 Tdi ( 90 BHP) engine from a MK3 Golf/Vento?
Am looking for help and advice about putting in a MK 4 Golf /Bora 130PD engine into my 1998 T4 van. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
It's actually out of a seat Alhambra, but yeah it's the same engine. AHU engine code.

Hey tell me where to get this engine and gear i have t25 with original diesel engine but in Pakistan there is no such great mechanic
I got mine in Ireland, where they're readily available. I'm not going to be able to tell you where to get one in Pakistan. The best thing to do is find an old Passat with one of the non-pd engines.
You forgot Ian McGilvery , for anything related to VWT3. he breaks them, sells them has TDI engines for them and side impact bars for them.
