R.I.P. Jono. May you live through your TH-cam tattoo tutorials forever. Thank you.
I started watching your vids 2 months ago. Since then I've acquired everything needed as certification for body art, I even have more than 8 clients! This Chanel is my HOW TO manual indefinitely. You f***ing rock bruv-PERIOD!
Wow! Thank you so much for the awesome feedback and massive congratulations to you with your career! Thanks for supporting the channel! 🖤
Thank you for the thorough tutorial. I’m just learning this medium and this is my favorite tattooing technique and I wanted to learn how to do it correctly
Great attitude!
Your videos help help me so much as a younger tattoo artist. I've learned more online than in person with artists here in my small town of Dickinson ND
Your videos are so great! Your detailed explanation helps me a lot understanding what to do. I am still practicing on fake skin, because I need to feel safe before trying tattooing on real skin (and I am also a huge perfectionist.. but I am okay with that ;) ) Thank you for your effort. I really appreciate it.
Thanks for the awesome feedback!
I'm learning to tattoo, but I've done dotwork art for years, and have been trying to figure out the best way to do this with a tattoo machine. This was a great help. Thank you!

Very informative sir.......
Thank you so much sir ..🙏 I'm your big fan sir...I'm from India 🇮🇳assam
Thanks for watching! 🇮🇳
Great vid with lots of knowledge. Some questions arise though. What about needles. Is it ok to use 3RL? Or would i be better off usig 1RL? Or perhaps a mix of both? ;) And what about machine speed?
I cover machine speed in depth in my other videos. Personally I never go lower than a 3RL.
Very informative, nice 1
What voltage is that 100-110?
I'm after some advice on a decent all round pen machine as I'm thinking about getting back into tattooing. I've seen some reviews you done but they are pretty old now?
Thanks in advance.
The Cheyenne Hawk Pen is still an amazing all rounder. There are newer machine but the weight puts me off a lot of them.
Thanks you broo, veľmi si my pomohol 👍
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Dammm that’s crazy🤔🤔 thank you for the teaching 👍🏽
Thanks for watching!
Cracking vid!
Thanks for watching!
Whoaaaaa bro how’d you get the stencil off so easy? That spray???
Great as always!
Thank you mate!
Hi Jono, I’ve been following you for over a year and have absolutely loved your videos and they’ve helped me so much! I wanted to inform you that recently I purchased an online course to learn some tattoo work and noticed this very stencil in that online course and the instructor stating that they made that specifically for that course. I knew I had seen it before bc I watched it here and just wanted you to know as it upset me that I paid money for that online course to find out that I learned something I already knew for free months prior. I just wanted you to know ❤️
Thank you for all your support with the channel. Unfortunately this does happen from time to time with my content. I do have big plans in motion for a complete online course in the future so if you still need extra help with your journey maybe that’s something you might be interested in. Thanks for watching! 😀
@@JonoSmithTattoo that stinks bc I was like wait a second I’ve seen this before! And right away I knew it was yours! But yes absolutely! You’ve given me some amazing tools to help me over the past year year! I’ll definitely keep my eyes out for it! Thanks so much!💕🎉
Like Your tips the small 1s make it
Very helpfull.. thanks bud
Thanks for watching!
This is amazing. Thank you 💯
Thanks for watching!
Firstly great vid as always very helpful im inspired to do something containing dot work on practice skin today. Also what white ink would you recommend?
Personally I use Eternal white. Thanks for watching!
I give it a go thanks jono 😁
Awesome 👍
Great great advice! Thank you!😉👍
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Jono for these vids! Have a question, my power supply doesn't have a digital screen where I can see the cps of the machine, is there anything I can do to know at what cps is my machine operating at? I'm using a rotary machine if it means anything.
With a rotary a digital screen won’t really give you the cps anyway. A digital screen will tell you the cps or hertz for a coil but not a rotary. I’m assuming it’s got some kind of read out to let you know what volts you’re running at. With rotaries you need to check the manufacturers website or user manual of your specific machine and find out what cps it runs at per volt. Then you can work out how much your cps is from the volts (hope that makes sense). So basically if a machine ran at say: 10 cps per volt. You know if you ran at 10 volts your machine would be running at 100cps. But every machine runs differently depending on the motor which is why it’s best to check with the specific manufacturers website.
@@JonoSmithTattoo makes sense, thank you man!
Such a helpful tutorial 👌
Thanks for watching!
Awesome 👏 as always
Thank you!
Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
im always watching from Philippines..
Thank you! 🇵🇭
Hey I really like ur video! May I know what you use for removing the stencil ink on the synthetic skin? Thanks!
On synthetic skin you can soak it in bleach for a few hours and it’ll come straight off.
my rotary goes up to 15 cps.. would you recommend a different machine for this ?
Great video
What kind of realistic fake leather are you using? Can you recommend a good quality one for beginners? :)
Very helpfull video
Which exact machine could you recommend for begginers? I want to start learning dotwork on fake skin and maybe after half a year try on yourself
The Bronc Staves is a good beginner machine. I've reviewed it on my channel. You can also get 10% off if you watch the video and follow the instructions. Hope this helps!

So helpful thank you
Mayby you could turtorials Lesson 1 to iets finish maybe a portrait turtorials greets
Sorry for asking but ... how do you remove your stencil from practise skin ? 😅
even if its on the skin for longer than 24h ?
On practice skin you can put a thin layer of bleach in it and leave it for a couple of hours then wipe it off.
@@JonoSmithTattoo thanks jono :)
Brilliant video, haven’t tried dot work yet so this was perfect to gain some essential knowledge first, thank you!
Good luck when you try it. Thanks for watching!
thank you so much bro
Thanks for watching!
Awesome bro
Thanks for watching!
Really enjoying your videos and learning a lot. One thing, I just expect you to announce hospital radio at some point😃
Great videos , thanks
Thanks for watching!
How to set up cps if our power supply saws us only voltage??
This video shows you how. It’s a bit old now but the information is still good: th-cam.com/video/O1NRRc84_ow/w-d-xo.html
Thank you boss
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Jono... x
Thanks for watching!
What I can use material for temporary tattoo ?
Can u help me plz!
I’m not familiar with temporary tattoos I’m afraid. You’re probably best looking on Amazon.
What stencil printer and ink do you use for the stencils
I use an Epson ET-2750 and InkJet Stencil ink. If you search my videos there’s a full review on this printer.
Great video! Just started out tattooing on a rotary, this has been super useful will practise this over time 👌🏼🤗 thanks 🙏🏼
I’m glad the channel is helping you. Thanks for watching!
I mean... technically isn't ALL tattooing "dot work"!? Great instruction on what I know as stippling.
what voltage is 110 cps?
With what did you removed the stencil? :o
Can you recommend a good wireless machine for dotwork?
And another question. Do you apply the dots a certain way like rows or 5 dots like on a cube etc or do you just apply them anywhere with no system? I hope you understand the question 🤣
If you’re on a budget the Hummingbird Bronc is a great machine. Here’s the link for the site and if you use code JONOSMITH at the checkout you’ll get an extra 10% off:
www.bigwasptattoosupply.com/
If you’ve got more money to spend then the Bishop Wand machines are exceptional.
With regards to the dot work question, I place the dots randomly with no pattern. Hope this helps!
@@JonoSmithTattoo thank you very much 💪💪💪
Great!, Thank you...
Thanks for watching!
Hey Jono, can you please explain to me why does my tattoo machine does not do the lines or shading bold at all? I draw a straight line and you can barely see a little line. It’ll help so much if you explain
It could be a number of reasons. It could be your technique, the machine not set right, not enough stretch just to name a few. You’d have to experiment until you find out which one is not working for you.
@@JonoSmithTattoo thank you so much jono, I guess I’ll have to move around my machine till I get it right ahaha
what are you using to remove the stencil? I see you're using some kind of a spray
That spray is isopropyl alcohol. You can also use bleach on stubborn stencils if you apply a thin layer and leave it for an hour. But ONLY use these methods on fake skin. Never use them on human skin. Thanks for watching!
@@JonoSmithTattoo yes, I've seen it now in your other video about which skin is the best to practice on. Thanks for you answer and your content, you're helping me a lot! *-*
👍👍👍
Why didn't you just let the stencil dry on the inkjet stencil?
Cause an amateur would forget to let it dry and remove excess ink from stencil like he described the pro doing.
I love you sir
U know what I hate that they go super fast when doing the pro stuff like slow down !
I'm over this video 3 minutes in.
why is the music so louddddd
My bad! The edit went wrong with track volume on this one. I’ve noted this for all future uploads! Thanks for watching!
