As a french woman, I'm always glad when a Disney takes place in France. They made Toulouse a painter because his name is inspired by the french painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (Toulouse is also the name of a city)
For cat lovers like me , this was very enjoyable. I love the whole feel of this movie how wholesome this story is and that we never get this kind of thing anymore.
Definitely a childhood favorite, mostly from the insane antics that happen. Really distract from the sad parts of the film, and every character is extremely enjoyable no matter how small their role is. Overall, a great film to watch for a distraction from the chaos that is real life.
This is such an underrated film. Is it a Disney masterpiece? Not by any means. Compared to their classics that are actual masterpieces, I can see why this one gets left in the dust. However, on it's own, it's a very wholesome, funny, adorable piece of animation and I'm glad I grew up with it.
Easily my most watched Disney movie growing up, can't explain why. It's not even my favorite, my favorite has always been the black cauldron, and yet for some reason I kept rewatchin the aristocrats over and over. And this was back in the days of VHS, my grandma had VHS copies of all the classic Disney stuff. Me and my cousin would watch it every time we visited grandma, and every time grandma would have to rewind the tape for us when we forgot, a struggle kids don't have to worry about anymore haha. My cousin and I can still to this day quote like every line from the aristocrats
As a french, I'm always happy when people like the Disney movies taking place in France. Now, I watch this movie with sadness because the guy who voiced Roquefort and Lafayette left this world three years ago. This guy was considered as the boss of the Disney voice dub because he was behind a lot of Disney and no-Disney characters. For example : he's the Cheshire Cat, Kaa, Sire Hiss, King Hubert, Bernard (from " The Rescuers "), Winnie the Pooh, Coco Rabbit, Piglet, Pongo...
It's a sad shame they don't make animations like these anymore, so much personality in the hand-drawn with beautiful backgrounds matching flowing music, and not afraid to have some darker and complex subjects be a focus.
2:20 Fun fact: Madame Bonfamilie is voiced by Hermione Baddeley, who previously played Ellen the maid in _Mary Poppins,_ and would go on to voice Auntie Shrew in _The Secret of NIMH._
@@ju2545 ah nice. Didn’t even know that was a thing. How does that even work? Are the cat characters just replaced by humans or do you guys act like the cats?
@@ju2545 oh I see I see. Well hopefully you enjoy that because that definitely would’ve been a dream of mine if I was born in the right time. I watched this movie SO MANY TIMES as a kid it’s insane
If you think Edgar’s bad, or even cruella deville, you should see Madame Mudusa from the rescuers movie. An unhinged sociopathic woman who kidnaps and endangers the life of a 6 year old girl all whilst crushing her spirits. She’s Simultaneously very threatening and very entertaining to watch. And incredibly well animated 💯 They really don’t make Disney films like they used to.
No they don't make animations like this anymore or any of the old classic I miss the older style too. That's why some of the remake Disney movies I didn't like. But I enjoyed this reaction.
This was a childhood movie of mine aswell, my grandmother had pretty much every disney animated and most live action movies for me. We were a very disney household
Honestly I don't blame Edgar I do but I don't because if you was taking care of some old Rich lady for so many years and not only did she give her massive Fortune to cats but she also didn't even give you a slice of it to you like rude Edgar couldn't even get a slice of that fortune a slice how is he a bad guy not only did he have to put up with her but some other old people too that come along like her accountant and stuff like Edgar deserved at least more than a slice of that fortune she didn't have to give all of it to the cats. Which is sad because he truly did love his job though.
“Edgar seems like a lovely person” hahaha 🤣 we all knew he wasn’t. I love this movie, so glad you did this reaction x
Honestly he probably was for awhile it feels like he just kinda snapped from greed
@@Neevkl_7 honestly, I can't be mad at him for that

And, Marie is based off of Marie Antoinette, a princess/queen, and Berlioz is based off of Hector Berlioz, a musician.

Wdym it's not a classic it was made in 1970

I love how the song called "Scales and arpeggios" is composed on literally nothing but scales and arpeggios 😻😹

cats can swim but most cats just don't like getting wet
Edgar is an idiot to actually think the cats will outlive him and that he doesn't get any money
It wouldn't matter Edgar didn't seem to realise as the cats named caretaker he'd be in control of the money anyway whether they outlived him or not.
