    I too have and love this guitar. But I'd like to give Yamaha a shout out. My guitar developed an annoying buzz in the battery compartment. The dealer tried but failed to fix it. I contacted Yamaha Canada and they shipped it across the country to fix it and back. But upon return I noticed a small finish crack on the top at the neck, less than 2" long, obviously from humidity conditions in shipping. I told Yamaha about it and They replaced the guitar with a new one at no cost. Incredible. 👍👍👍

    I got mine about 5 months ago and I still enjoy playing it. I have multiple guitars but I always seem to pick that one up the most. Just sent it in for a setup.

    Phil! This is the first video of yours that I’ve seen on TH-cam and you answer the one question about this guitar that I’ve been looking for an answer to for weeks. The question I had was if DFX are still present when you plug the guitar in to a PA or something like that. You would think that more people would address that question, but out of dozens if not hundreds of videos now you are the only person to have mentioned that. Thank you so much!

    Bought this same model (your review sealed the deal), and to be honest, I think you undersold it! Never loved a guitar as much as this one. Best comment was my mate who just dropped £3k on a Gibson and said he preferred the both the sound and playability on the Yamaha. I love people’s reaction when they try it for the first time.
    She just needs a name now 😆😆

    I saw Mike Dawes and Justin Sandercoe demo the Tonewood Amp which does basically the same job as the Transacoustic but it comes in a big box stuck to the back of the guitar. Well done Yamaha for tucking all the magic out of sight. Like Graham Dallas, I've loved all the Yamahas I've had - I only sold them to buy Variaxes. BTW, where has your JTV gone? When people were rude about mine (like Ben Crowe!) I told them it was the only one of your guitars to have it's own special frame!

    • @PhilWalkerGuitarist
      @PhilWalkerGuitarist  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yamaha have knocked it out of the park this time.
      Don’t worry Myk, my Variax was cased up and ready to go out on the road. It will be back in its frame next week 👍

    I have the LL-TA (dread size, same burst) love it.... so much i bought the FS-TA (same size as the LS) .....Amazing is the word. Only wish the good folks at Yamaha would put strap pins on their necks, but that's an easy fix. Good demo, great playing. Thx.

    • @bensherman1977
      @bensherman1977 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How do you find the two models compare? What's your favourite? I'm torn between the LL and LS!

    • @scottkendall5655
      @scottkendall5655 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bensherman1977 hello, tough question...Both sound great of course....the bigger body of the LS of course gives it more low end and boominess. The smaller LS sizes are of course a bit more high end but still sound great. The LL is heavy and it could be considered bulky but hey it's a big old D-naught. If you're gonna gig with either, I'd go smaller, just because of the size and weight, if you're gonna be standing up, playing for 3 or 4 hours. Both sound great plugged in. I would have to say overall the LS is my favorite. It fits me nicely. I'm not really playing the LL that much anyway, mainly cause of the size, but it sound so nice. If I had to do it over I'd go with the vintage natural tint for the LL also.... and definitely natural tint on the LS.

    • @scottkendall5655
      @scottkendall5655 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bensherman1977 As I mentioned I have the LL transacoustic....I also have the FS Transacoustic (laminate back and sides) version, not the LS Transacoustic... but I do on the standard LS, which I love...so I'm considering my FS with all the solid woods of the LS to answer this. So I think ultimately if I had it to do over I would have bought a LS Transacoustic but since I owned the LS standard already went with the LL as I mentioned. Thanks.

    I went and played one of the lower end models (FG-TA). It sounded wonderful, but the action was kinda high for my liking. Still played ok, but it was just kinda high. Is it lower on the L series transacoustics? Do you know? I live in a small town, and the closest one is a couple hours away.

    • @mouselim72
      @mouselim72 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      L series also kinda high for me but I think it's easy to lower the action - I did with my LS-TA (on my own) and now it plays beautifully :)

    Hi Phil thanks for the videos and your amazing playing. I currently have the FG-TA and love it. I'm considering the smaller FS you have here. Without the effects, is there a big difference between the the FS and FG in terms of sound? Does this one have that comfortable C shape neck as the FG as well? Thanks!

      Enya-Music company has created a line of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic ukuleles which optionally have the TransAcoustic system installed. Your video convinced me it's worth a try. I pre-ordered one of their Nova U ukuleles with TransAcoustic at the introductory price which expires at the end of this month. It should be very interesting, based on your demo with the Yamaha guitar. The effects may not be as dramatic in a small-body instrument like the ukulele, but compared with no effects on-board, it should be very nice.

    I'm seriously interested in transacoustic. After a year and a half with the guitar, do you still use the effects regularly? Do you ever play it dry? How long do the batteries last?

    • @PhilWalkerGuitarist
      @PhilWalkerGuitarist  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      JevVan72
      Hi, yes I still use the effects. The reverb in there is great!! I sometimes play it dry through the pa and let the engineer put the effects on but usually it comes from the guitar.
      I don’t change the batteries that often, it all depends on how much you are going to use it.

    Yes - it's an "absolute corker" until you try to put a strap on it!
    For one thing there's no front strap button, which is ridiculous on an £800 guitar - and the end pin jack won't take a lot of thicker strap ends, never mind a strap lock.
    What's worse is that if you do manage to get a strap on, you have to take it off again every time you change the battery - and it' eats batteries!
    The "wizards" at Yamaha seem to have overlooked all that - and I like Yamaha and have a few, including this one, but I'm sorry, it's badly designed.
    Funny how none of the reviewers ever mention this, but for those of us who play standing up a lot, it matters!

      @@whitehh15 I definitely don't get that - maybe I should stop using rechargeable batteries!

    • @whitehh15

      @@SuperJ333 Could be the issue. I had brand new batteries, I'm only on my second set now.
      Do you play the effects really engaged? I typically don't go beyond like 20% reverb, as it sounds better with most stuff.
      I do hit the chorus with like 60-70% sometimes though when I'm in Def Leppard mode :D

    • @SuperJ333
      @SuperJ333 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@whitehh15 Moderate effects just to colour the natural acoustic sound - if I want to rock I plug in an electric!
      But I play a lot plugged into an amp or P.A. and batteries don't last very long - my Yamaha AC3R is better.
