For future crocheters who have issues with the sizing because it’s a bit small, I did a few more increases to adjust the size. My round 2 had 24 stitches, my round 3 had 32 and my round 4 had 46 stitches and then I DC all around until the right length, came out the perfect one size fits all beanie!!
I've used this to make two hats so far. Easiest PRETTY pattern I've tried yet. For those complaining about no oral instructions, maybe the person making this great tutorial is deaf (like me) ... or maybe stutters ... or maybe just doesn't like to talk on videos. It would be a shame to not have this awesome tutorial, just because the person making it doesn't include oral instructions.
I'm a beginner crocheter and can I just say WOW of all the beginner hat tutorials out there (especially for the fuzzy Bernat yarn I was using) your video was without doubt the best! Clear, detailed, excellent close-ups of how to do each stitch, great lighting so it was very visible, and fun friendly music! Also I loved how you showed how to "feel" for the stitches even when it is fuzzy yarn like that, as I was really struggling to see where the next stitch would go. I had so much fun with this pattern that I finished the whole hat in one day! Thank you!!! ❤
i unraveled twice because each time i finished row 4 all i had made was a flat potholder that folded into a perfect semi circle. I think im following her exactly at the slip stitch, chain, and connecting points, and following stitch pattern. Any idea what i could be doing wrong?

@melissy1 ofc but you might wanna do an extra layer of DC's between round 5-6 so its longer and do an extra layer of DC's with a smaller hook size at the end, it makes it look so much better!
I just made this beanie. It me a lot longer than 20 minutes but I enjoyed it. I am slow. I made it longer, with 10 rows of HDC and a trim on the edge. I added a pom pom on top. Thank you Crystal. I've been searching for a pattern with chunky 8 for toboggans and scarfs. Thanks for all your wonderful, incredibly helpful videos!💙
your clothing is amazing!!! you are so talented and must have a ton of patience! i have several starts of hats i’ve started and quit after the 5th row 😂
I added another row of increases. DC, DC, DC, 2DC. I also added another row of DC before the rows of HDC. Not sure if that’s correct but it worked okay for me!
Grew video!!! I was wondering if I wanted to make it bigger to fit my head, do I just need follow I believe it was row 3 where you showed the measuring tape and increase the number ? And what pattern would you recommend if I wanted to do 3 colors ? 😊
Thankyou so much enjoyed that tutorial very much 😊 ☺ will make many more beanies this way 😊 😀. Hello from Kaikohe NZ, love and ☪️ to you and your family 👪 💞💞
I want to make this but not sure if my yarn is ok to use because I have size 6 chenille yarn and not sure if that is ok to make hat out of or if I should make something else out of it
Ifyou see at 07:24, she has completed the flat part, and says: " My measurement is 9.5. The complete circumference will be 19 inches" That's when you need to do another round with increases, until your circumference is the size of the man's head. And then stop increasing and continue with the pattern as given.
By chance do you have these instructions printed? I tried this twice and kept picking up stitches. It I had a print out line by line it might help. Thanks
where did i mess up? by the end of round 4 i have a flat circle, an exact semi circle when i fold it in half. i have to unravel again and figure where i went wrong
i did it again and i still just made a circle instead of something that curves like a hat it looks like a potholder. i want to make this hat so badly what am i doing wrong?😭
Keep going! The first 4 rounds have increases to make the circle bigger, so it will be flat. The next rounds have no more increases so it will start to curve in.
@@crochettoz i thought yours looked curved in the video after 4 rounds? Thank you so much for responding, i will keep going and see how it goes. Ill share when im complete!
Could you please tell me what the measurement after row 4 means?? Does doubling the measurement, tell you how large the circumference will be....the circumference of the head that it will fit?? Thanks
Yes, exactly. It will give you the circumference of the hat. For a snug hat, it should be smaller than the head circumference because it will stretch. So a 19-20” hat will fit a child or adult with 20-22” head.
How would I make this for an infant? I only have 240 yds of this weight and blanket yarn. I'm trying to figure out what to do with that amount of yarn.
I tried an N-15 hook and the hat came out a little big on me, but still wearable. It would be a good size for someone with a larger head or lots of hair!
Also I am a beginner..have hook of size 5 only...so please suggest me if I use 6ply wool with your tutorial would that be suitable for a man? Thank you in advance 😊
If you use a size 5 hook and thinner yarn, your hat will come out smaller than mine. You could try doubling your yarn (using two strands at once) to make the yarn thicker and see if that works! Also, if your hook is too small, you can try to crochet loosely to make the stitches bigger. You might just have to experiment to make it work.
If you start with fewer DC in the magic circle, the hat might come out pointier instead of the rounder shape I have. I would use a smaller hook instead, but not too much smaller.
If you have the option of using smaller yarn, I would suggest a 6mm or 6.5mm hook with a lighter yarn (medium/worsted weight). The weight and suggested hook size should be on the label. Best of luck!
I got the same yarn and the same hook and I’m following all the instructions and my hat doesn’t turn cone shaped :( It just keeps turning into a bowl 😭 I’ve restarted this project like 10 times now. What am I doing wrong?
