    Excellent feel vs real drills. Bregeman talks about keeping his body squared to the plate when he hits. Although he’s not actually staying squared to the plate during his swing, he has to tell his brain that to keep him from flying open. Love the video and drills!

    i got a question thsi season that just passed i was driving the ball very well then we had a week of rain delays then a tourney and then all of sudden i started killing the ball on the ground to short and second any help?

      @ProSpeedBaseball  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      matthew holmes Tough to say without physically seeing the swing, but it sounds like you might have been timing the ball up pretty well and got a little loose with your mechanics at some point. Then after the delay, that small "looseness" threw off your timing. Always good to check your swing in the mirror or better yet the camera to make sure you're doing all of the basics correctly.

    Great job on explaining the chest pointing drills, I always used to open up more than I was suppose to so I never had much oppo power but I'm starting to really drive the ball well the other way after those drills, thanks and keep up the good work

      learningobsession Thanks! Yea, it really is something that's way overlooked, yet so easy to fix with the right drills and reps. Thanks for the comment and watching!! And let me know if there's anything else I can help with!! ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

    Thanks for your videos. Those are very helpful. Do you have any drills to recommend for players who have slower reflex? They are always late and have a hard time to hit balls in the right timing. I am not sure if you have already covered this topic. If not, please let us know. Best,

    Do you have any suggestions for front side drills? When I hit, my front knee tends to bend instead of staying straight

  • @mjim1717
    @mjim1717 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    thats why its good to prepare to hit the inside to middle pitch early and adjust to the outside pitch if it comes instead (which u have more time to hit).. then you have yourself what can be called a hybrid swing.. with the same approach u can slam the middle in pitch and with some recognition u can stay back and smack the outside pitch cuz you have time to let the outside pitch get deep to the point where it also falls into your zone..
    i practice this by finding my best place to stand in the batters box, that being the spot where the middle in pitch is in my wheelhouse (and most of our wheelhouses can cover at least half the plate).. and i stand behind the plate toward the catcher with this approach because i want as much time as possible to identify and drool over that sweet potato pitch that i wanna catch out in front and launch the shit out of it to left field or left center!! .. if its outside, you let it travel to where it falls right into your oppo swing which you shouldnt make contact without in front of your body like u do with the wheelhouse pitch.. middle in pitch out in front of my body so i can fully unload on it.. and outside pitch back towards my back shoulder or my chest, and automatically smack the ball toward the right field line..
    one more thing.. place the tee 7-10 feet away from a fence and put 2 diagonal lines of tape.. one has to be level with your upper abs (a few inches above your belly button) and the second diagonal blue tape line has to be level with your head..
    and when u start hitting that wheelhouse pitch in between the lines on EVERY SWING.. hit the weight room for a year and then go play pro cuz the competition isnt too good right now at the top notch level

      Mario Jim Glad that approach is working for you! Definitely will make you a threat at the plate. Thanks for commenting!

    Would you suggest doing the 100-200 reps all in one session? ALso would you do both drills in one session and then go back to hitting live balls? What do you suggest is the best way to incorporate these drills. I coach a U15 team and have a few layer that need to work on this. Thanks.

      Ash Mac Hey Ash Mac, thanks for the questions! This is one of the tougher issues to fix with most hitters, therefore lots of repetition is needed to break this bad habit.
      Ideally, you will get 100-200 reps of the first drill done before moving to the feel drill. Then at least 100 reps off of the tee for the feel drill really focusing on chest position and staying on the ball.
      I would suggest working hard on the one-handed drill first, making sure you're using a lighter bat or choking up, that way you can get lots of reps in without getting over doing it. Then start your reps with the feel drill.
      Doing all of the reps in one day would be tough, an good example regimine to follow, making sure you're still getting swings in would be:
      Session 1) First drill 100 reps Second drill 25 reps
      Session 2) First drill 100 reps Second drill 25 reps
      Session 3) First drill 25 reps Second drill 50 reps
      Session 4) First drill 25 reps Second drill 50 reps
      Session 5) First drill 10 reps Second Drill 50 reps. Then move to side/front toss.
      Same drills can be done in side and front toss as well.
      I would highly suggest slowing increasing the pace, meaning tee first (make sure it looks good) the side/front toss which will be a slow pace (still making sure it looks good). Then move into light BP then regular speed BP, then game speed.
      Also making sure your players are doing the same, swinging at about 25% starting out to make sure it's right, then slowly working into 50% then 75% then 100% swings. If you bump up the speed with the swing or the ball, and it goes crazy then back down to where you are getting quality reps then try again.
      Hope all of this makes sense and I answered your questions. If you have any other questions just let me know!
      Good Luck! ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

    See I am a big kid. I am about 6 foot in the 7th grade. An I am very strong so when I hit the ball it went far. But I only as like a 270 average. Now with these drills I am hitting 576, 9 home runs and that is only half of the season.

    So what drills are there for staying through the ball then?

    • @ProSpeedBaseball
      @ProSpeedBaseball  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Shane Flaningam Thanks for the question Shane! The drills at the beginning of the video are good for staying through the ball if executed correctly as explained in the video.
      Also, the drills at the end of the video are great for staying through the ball as well.

    Would I be okay trying to fix these problems in the middle of a college season with these drills?

    • @ProSpeedBaseball
      @ProSpeedBaseball  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +drew Jarmuz Great question Drew.
      Simple answer: Work on your swing when it's practice/work time, in the game: SEE THE BALL AND HIT IT HARD
      This means, as far as your brain learns new movement, you can absolutely work on your swing anytime as long as you're not trying to do it in the game.
      Game swings should be automatic from tons of PROPER repetitions.
      Quick note: It takes a lot of repetitions to make changes to a movement (3-5 thousand) Especially a movement as ingrained as a college player's swing.
      So if you're working on something and it doesn't immediately show up in your full/game swing, don't be discouraged, it simply takes proper work, reps, and time!
      Hope I explained this ok. If you have any other questions on this or anything else, just let us know! ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

    in second drill. does not that contradict the other drills where the swing is started by rotating the hips, then the hands?
    Perhaps that may mislead the hitter or counter act the purpose of the other drills.

    This cracks me up. If you would have done the first drill you were dogging correctly, then you could have seen in slow motion how you stay through the ball. The purpose of the two ball drill is for “staying through” as well as “follow through.” The great thing about the “two tee/two balls” drills is it gives you immediate feedback. If you do pull off the ball before you get through the second one, then you will have the first ball popping-up to left field and the second ball will hit off the end of the bat. If you stay through both balls and do the drill correctly then you will see immediate feedback as well. Both baseballs will travel together and then split in a “Y” shape. You are correct though, if you do the drill incorrectly it’s pointless. However, isn’t that the case with every drill? Lol! It may be better if, instead of being extremely negative towards other drills that players and instructors use, you should probably just focus on the way you are doing things.
