Mauritius 4K - Driving Tour of Downtown Port Louis

Driving tour of the capital city of Mauritius. The tour starts by the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden and continues along with the M2 Motorway of Mauritius. Downtown Port Louis is also driven and the tour ends with Caudan Waterfront and The Blue Penny Museum.

I first visited Port Louis in 2001, then 2006,2007 and just recently in April, 2024……huge changes to Port Louis, the roads, buildings, houses, even a metro….oh and five incredible shopping malls…..and much much cleaner….my wife has relatives in Quatre Bornes….we stay at La Pirogue each visit…..beautiful island, yes it has changed, but then everywhere has…..returning next year……

Port Louis would be much more likeable if there were more pedestrian streets, parks and squares... Look at all those ugly barriers on sidewalks just to protect people from cars!
Downtown Port Louis makes me think of Downtown Cape Town in the Sixties or Durban. Hopefully Cape Town's municipality managed to get rid of traffic in many places and now it does contribute for it to be one of the most beautiful cities in Africa ^^

Yeah Port Louis is better than Mumbai but they call it mini India because of the major population of Mauritius is Indian descent

small streets look beautiful, the island is too small for any expansion in roads. Rather mauritius should focus on public transportation like metro
