BABYMETAL started in 2010. The concert is called legend 1997 because the lead singer (Su-metal) was born in 1997 and this was her 16th birthday concert. The concert was held in 2013

Yes 2010, they were a sideshow skit for the idol group Sakura Gakuin before going independent in 2013.

Great reaction. Legend 1997 was Su-metal's 16th birthday party in December 2013 (Yui and Moa were both still only 14 ... and give a couple of 14 year olds smoke cannons to fire at a crowd of about 9,000 people and you know they'll have fun with it).
'Headbanger' is about a girl using her junior discount rail tickets to go to her first concert on her 15th birthday, but it is also a coming of age thing (compulsory education ends at 15 in Japan), so the girl is realising life will never be the same, her first 15 years passed by so quickly, so she is etching this special night of her 15th into her heart so she will never forget.
At shows in 2014 on or near their own 15th birthdays Yuimetal (in Paris) and Moametal (in Cologne) took over lead vocals for 'Headbanger' when Su-metal handed them the mic and stand half way through the song for them to finish it off ... and Su-metal seamlessly stepped into their place with the choreo. There are only fancam videos for those.
The same thing happened at the Legend M concert in 2019 on Moametal's 20th birthday - 20 is the official coming of age to be an adult in Japan (I think that is being changed to 18, but I'm sure 20 will still be the birthday they celebrate most). You can find that posted by the Babymetal Reactor Resource under 'Moabanger' I think.
The Kami Band - the musicians who support BABYMETAL in all their live shows - are all male.
Next reaction, try their very first appearance in the UK, their first major event outside of Japan. Almost unknown, aged 16 and just turned 15 and faced with 50-60k UK metalheads they had to win over. They had just 5 songs to do it. Last song of the set - 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' live at Sonisphere UK 2014.

Good reaction, thanks sand welcome back!
As everyone said, the concert name, Legend 1997 - Su-metal seitan sai (Su-metal's birthday party) refers to Suzuka Nakamoto (the lead singer) year of birth. She turned 16 the previous day so this was her birthday party (as the show subtitle suggests). And what a party... but you still need to watch some other songs before knowing how that show ended. 😁
Lyrics are about a girl attending to her first metal concert the night of her 15th birthday and the way she experienced it. The age here is relevant since it marks the end of compulsory education in Japan and the moment when young people have to make some important decisions that will affect severely the rest of their lives. So, the song is actually about coming on age and leaving the childhood behind with a hint of nostalgia.
This performance, from December 2013, is a relatively earlier one and it's considered a masterclass in crowd control. It's really insane considering how young they were at the time. Not to mention that this audience was amazing and totally deserved what they experienced that night.
    Until next time!

1997 is the birth year of main singer Su-metal. This concert was to celebrate her 16th birthday.
The legend 1999 show earlier the same year (2013) was to celebrate the 14th birthdays of Moametal and Yuimetal who were both born only two weeks apart from each other in 1999.
On a few special occasions the last part of Headbanger after the guitar solo was sung by Yuimetal or Moametal, most notably Moametal singing at her 20th birthday show "Legend M" in 2019 (you can find that here on TH-cam).

When I first saw this video, I also thought "Damn! That's a big crowd! Where is this concert, anyway?" I was curious about the arena myself, did some digging and found out that this was from a concert they did on Dec. 21, 2013 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan just outside of Tokyo. Apparently it has a capacity of 9,000 and it looks like this show sold out. I also made the observation that it's a good thing that the Japanese have experience with architecture allowing for earthquakes because I'm sure that this structure took a beating with 9,000 people jumping up and down at the same time.
Be advised, none of the Kami Band are female with the one exception of Miz on violin in 2013. Apparently it's the white face paint, the long hair, and white "gowns" that throw people off. For the longest time I thought their lead guitarist, Fujioka Mikio (RIP), was a woman (!).
Regarding more BABYMETAL: I've made my recommendations in your previous BABYMETAL videos - the TH-cam playlist "BABYMETAL Top Twenty", and react to an entire BABYMETAL concert like this one, "Legend 1997 Apocalypse", and/or "Budokan Black Night" 2014. I suggest going to the channel of HEAD123456 for high-quality playlists for both of these concerts. Those are quite likely the only recommendations you see from me.
I think we can safely say you two are now members of the One!
    Keep rockin’ BABYMETAL!!!

Welcome back to the Foxhole and BabyMetal journey.🦊🤘🔥
Thanks for coming back with this suggestion, one of the most beloved song, full of multiple meanings and very special in every event such in this one, they recently brought back this song as part of the setlist during the Babyklok Tour and everyone were having a blast, even the bodyguards who couldn't help to hedoban with the middle section lol, there's a short clip of one of them jamming with this along with MoaMetal headbanging hard, which btw she got another special version during her 20th Birthday in 2019 at Legend M.
Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! is one of BM fans favorite and got special meaning too. Song is about a 15 years old girl celebrating her birthday going to her first live concert, probably metal, while having melancholy for leaving her childhood behind.
Isn't about any of our girls but they embraced this song like it was made for them, you'll find many special versions of this, even when they celebrate their 20th Birthday.
15 is an important coming of age for Japanese girls, 20 is another important date. I saw recently a 15 yo girl fancam witnessing this live for her birthday at one of The Babyklok Tour concerts, i can't imagine how meaningful was this for her too.
This was at Legend 1997 (you got it right, isn't about the year it was shoot, it's the title of this live concert referring to SuMetal birthyear) in 2013 celebrating SuMetal 16th Birthday, and the whole concert was special and one night only, if you want to know the rest of the songs finishing this, those are:
    - "Akatsuki" Unfinished Version, a beautiful SuMetal solo version with only a piano behind, the original song is a power/speed metal balad
    - "Babymetal Death", get ready for this insane ending,
The live concert and also this song got plenty of tributes to the greatest metal bands, like Metallica and X-Japan, specially Yoshiki, the gong at the end is one of those, you'll find more and plenty of this to add to their lore. The statue behind is SuMetal resemblance and is a tribute to Metallica's Lady Justice.
This song got tributes to one of the greatest J-metal/visual key bands, like X-Japan, specially Yoshiki, the gong at the end is one of those, you'll find more and plenty of this to add to their lore.
The official MV is also creepy for some fans, I guess the organ gave that effect, you'll also see the neckbrace there for the first time which is a tribute to Yoshiki from X-Japan. The red moon at the end is an easter egg for Akatsuki, another song with a tribute to X-Japan but only SuMetal sing.
Another thing that you don't see so much here in their live performance is, when YuiMetal and MoaMetal are hyping the crowd singing "Hedoban hedoban" and using that cryo/smoke cannon, the choreography on this part is with them down on their knees and doing the "dogeza hedoban" which is like bowing down back and forth summoning the metal spirit represented by the neckbrace while SuMetal is standing with the mic rise up and her relentless death stare, that's another moment we called -NotACult- 👀
The Kami Band here are insane set of elite musicians who were send to help with the metal sound, "kami" means roughly "god", they're wearing burial white robes and corpse face paint to represent those spiritual entities.
They rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarrists).
    They are:
    - Míkio Fujioka, god of guitar, a beloved member, sadly he passed away in 2018. (R.I.P.)
    - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums tracks.
    - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. You can see at the end (when SuMetal is crawling upstairs) his head got written "Happy Birthday".
    - Hideki Aoyama,, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father was a very famous in Japanese music scene.
    Next suggestion:
    - "Ijime Dame Zettai" live at Sonisphere 2014 official.
Thanks for sharing this suggestion and see you next time!🦊🤘🔥

Really pleased you reacted to this one - this whole concert (legend 97) is absolutely breathtaking with some tracks they don't do anymore as well (some covers but OMG they know how to take a song and make it awesome). If you liked this one there is an EDM version (same concert) called "night of 15" (which I LOVE although not so mad with the Ave Maria leadin). Great reaction....more pls :P

Glad you are enjoying your Babymetal journey. One note about the audio for live performances, the guitars are usually panned all the way left or right. So the guitarist on the audience left is heard in the left channel and the guitarist on the right is heard on the right channel. With just the left earpiece engaged you could probably hear Mikio's shredding solo during the bridge pretty well. But without the right earpiece you might have missed hearing Leda's wailing harmonics during the ending of the song. I understand it can be hard to hear the other person and especially one's self with both ears covered.

Hell yeah, great reaction!! Welcome back to Babymetal, and hope to see more! This was definitely an epic concert in 2013, which celebrated lead vocalist Su-metal's 16th Birthday. She is the "Legend" born in 1997. The other 2 girls, Moametal and Yuimetal were born in 1999.
The energy these girls bring is truly insane. This was song 12 of a 14-song setlist at this concert, and they brought that energy to every song. Combine that with non-stop touring which started in 2014 internationally. Putting it in perspective: imagine delivering this amount of energy, every song, at every show, year after year, from mid-teens to early 20s. As an example, this year, Babymetal did well over 100 shows in Australia, Asia, and Europe, and they are not even done yet. That's practically 1 show every 2 - 4 days!!
Next suggestion: Road of Resistance (official, live in Japan) - Epic power metal anthem from a 2015 performance.

Welcome to the Babymetal Universe and Foxhole. A good choice introduction to Monsters ladies Babymetal if you are reacting to them for the first time.
"Headbanger" Legend 1997 Apocalypse:- This concert is an epic show celebrating Babymetal Su-Metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) 16th Birthday 🎉 or Seitansai @ the Makuhari Messe. Spot the Pikachu in the middle of the crowd, you won't miss it!. After this react to "BABYMETAL DEATH" @ the same concert, you will see homage tribute to METALLICA, X JAPAN 🇯🇵 & ALICE COOPER. Not to forget "Road Of Resistance" live in Japan 🇯🇵. No 2 BABYMETAL songs are the same.
    Headbanger (Babymetal song):-
"Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" (ヘドバンギャー!!, Hedobangyā!!) is a single by the Japanese heavy metal band Babymetal. Released in Japan on July 4, 2012 in promotion for the album Sakura Gakuin 2012 Nendo: My Generation, the single serves as the third single from the debut album Babymetal. It is also the band's first solo audio release to be released commercially.
    •Single: Babymetal.
•Album: Babymetal and Sakura Gakuin 2012. •Nendo: My Generation.
    •Language: Japanese.
    •Released: July 4, 2012.
    •Genre: Power Metal, Heavy Metal.
    •Length: 14:44.
    •Label: Juonbu.
    •Songwriter: Edometal, Nakametal, Narasaki.
    •Producer: Kobametal.
    •Narametal: (arrangement).
    Babymetal singles chronology:-
"Babymetal / Kiba of Akiba": (2012)
    "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!": (2012)
    "Ijime, Dame, Zettai": (2013)
    Background and release:-
Unlike previous tracks released by the band, which had her vocal recorded in segments within the songs, Nakamoto had her lines recorded in a single take several times. She had been told to sing and find a story within the music. By the time she had comprehended the story behind the lyrics, she grew capable of singing the entire song naturally. When Mizuno and Kikuchi listened to her shouting "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" for the first time, they felt as if they had seen another cool side of her, surprised by the vocal power. Additionally, the single introduced the members to the whispering style of singing, with the A-side's "Kiero!" (Disappear!) and the B-side's "Uki Uki Midnight". Kobametal was inspired to Ko use it to contrast traditional death growls.
"Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" was announced as a single on April 27, 2012, with a release date set for July 7, 2012. The single was released in two versions: a standard edition, available via CD and digital formats, and a physical limited Hedo-ban ("Head edition"), which contains a CD and a "neck corset" (actually a cervical collar) for headbanging training.[5] Both editions of the single feature the songs "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" and "Uki Uki ★ Midnight" (ウ・キ・ウ・キ★ミッドナイト, "Exhilarating Midnight"), along with instrumental versions (labeled as "Air Vocal ver."). The standard version contains an enhanced CD with a bonus music video of "Babymetal Death", which can only be played on a computer. The artwork of the standard edition depicts a lyric in the song, specifically when the girl is headbanging with the corset, with the crimson-colored moon in the background, as well as the band name appearing at the top. The limited edition artwork depicts a temple scripture of the "Corset of Legend" with the song title spelled out in the middle.
Before the physical international release of the song, its title was written ambiguously as either "Head Bangya!!" or "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!", the latter of which is officially used in the international re-release of Babymetal and all future releases. The music video uploaded to the band's TH-cam channel initially had the former name, though it was switched to the latter in 2015; the version uploaded by Toy's Factory consistently retained the official title.
    Tekina Remix:-
During the live performances Legend "D" Su-metal Seitansai at Akasaka Blitz on December 20, 2012, and Legend "1997" Su-metal Seitansai at Makuhari Messe on December 21, 2012, a remix titled "Night of 15 mix." was performed, containing more elements of electronic music. The former took place on Suzuka Nakamoto's actual fifteenth birthday, while the latter was the opening song for the concert. Remixed by DJ'Tekina//Something, the song was later released as part of Social Reform promotional editions of the single "Ijime, Dame, Zettai", and later appeared on DJ'Tekina//Something's remix album Kawa-EDM (2016), re-subtitled as "Tekina Remix".
    KamiBand:-
The KamiBand are the instrumentalists (or backing band) in BABYMETAL - Each member is a "god (Kami) of music" summoned by The Fox God stage by stage. All the Kamis are male except for the Babymetal girls. The Kami Band wear corpse face paint and white robes depicting Japanese 🇯🇵 spirit. The Kami Band have their own jobs and side-projects in addition to BABYMETAL.
    Babymetal original Trio:-
    •Suzuka Nakamoto: Su-Metal (2010 - present).
    •Moa Kikuchi: Moametal (2010 - present).
•Yui Mizuno: Yuimetal (2010 - Left Babymetal in 2018 due to undisclosed health issue).
Current & Past Members Of Kami Band Who Perform At The "MAKUHARI MESSE":-
•Leda Cygnus (Guitar, ESP BLACK CUSTOM).
•Mikio Fujioka (Guitar, ESP BLACK & GREY CUSTOM) R.I.P January 2018.
    •Daisuke 'BOH' Bohte (Bass, ATELIER Z BETA 6, Boh'S CUSTOM 6).
    •Aoyama Hideki (Drums, YAMAHA Signature).

    この胸に刻むんだ 15の夜を
    Hirari dance in the air
    ひらり 宙に舞う
    Headbanger!
    ヘドバンギャーッ!
I will never forget 15 nights
    15の夜を忘れはしない
    The crybaby disappears from here
    泣き虫なヤツは ここから消えろ
I will never forget 15 nights
    15の夜を忘れはしない
The one who gets in the way disappears immediately
    邪魔をするヤツは 即座に消え失せろ
Brilliantly disturb the legendary black hair
    伝説の黒髪を華麗に乱し
This crazy blooming flower disappears quickly
    狂い咲くこの華は はかなく消える
I will never return for a short time
    もう二度と戻らない わずかな時を
15 nights carved in this chest
    この胸に刻むんだ 15の夜を
Brilliantly disturb the legendary black hair
    伝説の黒髪を華麗に乱し
This crazy blooming flower disappears quickly
    狂い咲くこの華は はかなく消える
I can't go back for a short time
    もう二度と戻れない わずかな時を
    15 nights carved into memories
    思い出に刻むんだ 15の夜を
    Hirari dances in the air
    ひらり 宙に舞う
    Headbang Headbang Headbang Headbang
    ヘドバン ヘドバン ヘドバン ヘドバン
    Headbang Headbang Bang Bang Babang
    ヘドバン ヘドバン バンバン ババン
    Headbang Headbang Headbang Headbang
    ヘドバン ヘドバン ヘドバン ヘドバン

    👍 👍
This concert was named in honor of lead vocalist Suzuka Nakamoto's birth year 1997. She had just turned 15 years of age here. Yui and Moa were 13 at this concert.
I left you a short😉comment on their origins in your first reaction to them.

Small correction. Su had just turned 16 in this concert and Moa and Yui were 14
