    I like the trigger controllers better than the plunger style. They make my thumbs hurt.

    A great follow up. You where running analog mode, and it seems effortless to use either brands car. But what happens if You decide to run digital, are the two brands then as complient?

      Fair point - but we can't answer that one as the digital tech in each one is different. Thanks for watching

    A big difference is the carrera rails are full stainless steel so they never ever rust. Some people even run this track outdoors with no issues too. Thats a big plus in my book as old scalextric track is always rusty.

    Great comparison for people to compare and with no guard rail's. Are the cars 1/24th or 1/32nd scale?.

    • @johnny-S
      @johnny-S  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cars we used were 1/32 scale. Thanks for watching.

    The Scaleextric track is 1/32 and the Carrera is good for 1/24

    What no one says about carrera. There are almost no tight curve radius, track construction flexibility is limited, its great for gp style tracks but shit for rally. Yes its higher quality but it comes with a lot of limitation. A bit like all that germans do.

    I would like to duplicate the Carrera track . Do you have the track plan for it?

    Bonsoir à tous, on se promettait une guerre des rails de slot-racing au 1/32 Jouef Z et Scalextric Sport ?
    Merci cordialement, Johan.

    Greetings, an item of note. Car weight. Did you happen to weigh the Scalextric and Carrera cars? I believe overall weight would have a performance impact. I suspect there may be a substantial weight difference between the 2 brands.
    For reference, I have a Carrera digital system and 7 cars, none of them weigh less than 100 grams. I suppose the added electronics contribute to the 100g+ weight.
    Thanks for the comparison video. I considered buying some Scalextric cars, but the expense of a digital chip, around 45 dollars U.S. is prohibitive. I’ll just be happy with what I have, happy slotting!

      Actually we did! - Scalextric: 76.5g , Carrera: 105.7g. Good point - we should have highlighted that! Thanks for watching

    The time for the Carrera car without magnets seems a little strange, given the fastest lap was 6.22 seconds, and none of the other laps looked terribly slower.

    • @johnny-S
      @johnny-S  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We thought that too - but there was no doubt the Scalextric was faster. Thanks for watching.

    Carrera track has a plastic insert between the rails which makes it really much stronger smoother and higher quality but you do need more room for it. You can buy cambered track pieces if that floats your boat. Carrera is miles better quality in both track and cars and I’ve had both, but Scalextric have great detail on some of their models. As I said before Carrera runs at 15v as opposed to Hornbys 12V so different responses to cars and throttles.😎👍🏁

    Your title is misleading. You have compared cars and not the tracks. Almost everything happened on the Carrera track. Not helpful.

    Carrera is better.

  • @chrisballantyne7857
    @chrisballantyne7857 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    They are two different cars. Different weights so you really can't compare them. Useless comparison. Scalextric track is horrible. No plastic between the rails to stop shorts. it's steel and rusts like crazy which is always the major complaint with Scalextric track. The connections are nowhere near as good electrically, or for stability and connectivity with the plastic inserts to hold the trac together properly and the surface of the track is way better for grip! Scalextric is a toy compared to Carrera! :(
