Gacharic Spin just released their second single from their new album that is coming out July 5th. We are all looking forward to that! They have depth to their sound. Along with the excitement and fun energy. Hey! Great reaction, Jeremy! Thx Dragon!! 🙂
Gacharic Spin always make me spin......😁😁😁 Japanese Bands played 6,7 string guitars, 5, 6, 7 string bass, finger, tapping, slapping and do bass solo's, Western Bands still play 6 string guitars and 4 string bass....🤭🤭🤭
It is very enjoyable for me to se a metalhead enjoying the fun(k) of Gacharic Spin, because I the funk fan was sucked into metal by Band-Maid and Lovebites and many more. Thank you Japan!
In my world they're the best rock band out there, fantastic song writers, fantastic musicians and fantastic performers...they need to be seen live! Nice reaction!
Well, Gacharic Spin are crazy, really crazy. They change styles a lot even inside the same album. And yes, this aren´t metal, but they do for a short time a metal band as an parallel proyect with Fuki (Ligntbringer, Unlucky Morpheus), one of the most famous singers in Japan. They do a band called Doll$Boxx and do an album and a EP, really good both of them.
It's not always easy to understand their compositions on first listen, cause they do a lot of unexpected stuff. That's exactly why it's so much fun to repeatedly listen to their catalogue, cause you'll find new stuff on subsequent listens. And their songs are always distinct, such as Kachi Kachi Yama (a poppy happy song) and Replica (a more agressive sound tapestry), their two latest singles. I hope you'll check out more of their stuff. Cheers :)
Time to break out my old notes again... A bit more history for the band; they have gone through quite a few changes even whilst most of the core members have stayed: I have tried to summarize the band line up chronologically. I've not included every detail. I have now updated some things based on some helpful comments on previous postings After leaving her old band and considering leaving music altogether, Koga (bass) instead started the band with former classmate Hana. F Chopper Koga: Bass, band leader (2009-present) Hana: Drums, Vocals (2009-present) Tomo-Zo: Guitar, Vocals (2009-present) Armmy: Vocals (2009-2012, died October 15, 2015) Armmy left in 2012 for health reasons, and later passed away in 2015. Oreo Reona was a touring support musician who stepped up to full-time after Armmy left. Vocals were split mainly between Hana and Oreo. Tomo-zo also has lead vocals on some songs, normally upbeat and poppy songs. Oreo Reona: Keyboards, Vocals (2012-present) From 2013 the band employed a couple of performers to improve the stage show Mainly dancing, they also took on some other duties, including main vocal on at least one song Arisa: Performer, vocals (2013-2015) Mai: Performer, vocals, some percussion and guitar (2013-2018) Nenne: Performer, vocals, some keyboard (2015-2017) After the last performer left, Hana switched to guitar to better front the band, The band hired Yuri on drums and Angelina (pink hair) as performer (and gradually becoming more lead vocal) Yuri: Drums (2019-present) Angelina: Performer, vocals (2019-present) Hana (the original drummer) is still on drums in this video. Their new drummer Yuri was away maternity at the time but is now back and can be seen in newer live videos. In older videos when Hana was the full time drummer she had bright blue hair, now on guitar she goes natural but put a blue streak in to be behind the drums in the video.
They have another drummer (Yuri) who was out pregnant during this video. The one on the drums is Hana who was the original drummer, who now plays 2nd guitar along with many instruments. She was also previously a Bassist/singer in band that had Babymetal drummer Hideki Aoyama.
Gacharic with 'ch' as in church. As far as I'm concerned, one of the best songs of 2021, And one of Gachapin's funkiest ever. Leader F Chopper Koga on bass (what a cool name), an understated Tomo Zo on lead, the forever active Oreo Reona on keys, the fresh faced action girl Angie leading vocals, and the inimitable multi-instrumentalist Hana on drums here... only new drummer Yuri missing from this video.
Gacharic Spin's mission statement is songs should not be boring. Key changes, tempo, time are all subject to change. Bassist, appropriately named "F Chopped" Koga is a true slapper and recognized as one of the better bassists in Japan. The main vocalists (pink hair) was 19 when this song was released. She was added to the band in 2019 (when she was 17 and still in high school), the rest of band (as seen in this video, a new drummer was out on maternity leave when this video was shot) are all around 35 now and have been together since 2009.
GS has been around since 2009. Three members have been with the band since inception: Hana-drums, vocals, now guitar/Koga, aka F Chopper Koga, bass/TOMO-ZO, guitar(She plays PRS. I hope she wasn’t smashing one.)Oreo, on keys, joined in 2012. All of them sing. You need to listen to Tamashii, live, 2019. This was their 10th anniversary tour and would have two drummers, Hana and Yuri who is now a permanent member, during the set.
The best mindset (tee hee) to have with Gacharic Spin is that when you listen to their next song, whatever it is, is to not have any expectations. Their next song will have their core sound, sure, but guaranteed it'll have a different tone and different changeups. One other aspect of GS to note is that the current lineup includes a drummer named Yuri. She wasn't in this video, I believe she was on maternity leave, but Hana has been GS's drummer for a long time. Yuri's addition allows Hana to switch from drums to guitar whenever she wants/when the song calls for it.

Gachapin has a lot of great qualities and they're all awesome musicians. I however love the fact the most that Tomo-Zo is the happiest guitar player on the planet :) For the more metal side of things Gacharic Spin with Fuki had a side Project called "DOLL$BOXX" which was quite a bit more (but not exclusively) metal. They also did covers of more classic songs under the guise of "Metallic Spin", basically they do everything ❤🔥
If there's one thing these ladies won't let you do to them, it's to be pigeonholed. For that, I just recommend you their MV to 'I Wish I' and you will agree with me. :) And just yesterday they released their latest song 'レプリカ' (Replica), whose lyrics could almost go in the direction of 'poetry slam'. Gacharic Spin is always good for surprises. :) GS describes themselves as an entertainment band, which they prove especially in their live performances. I have never seen so much energy and fun on a stage, and that from every single member without exception. I think these ladies could be the prime example of how you can tell they were born to be on stage. A great example of this are their videos for "Tamashii". Yes, plural, because I mean both the Official Live and the 'Toy Instruments' (video title: "おもちゃの楽器でガチでバンド演奏してみた") version. Even though it may sound weird, check it out when you get a chance. Rarely has a band managed so many times to put me in a good mood. :) By the way, I understand very well what you mean to have been around with blinders on. I was the same up until a few years ago, when I encountered a certain band that tore those blinders off my eyes. :) 🤘🏻 _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever. Nice reaction. Gacharic Spin take us metal fans (or even hard rock fans) much further out of our comfort zone than this, but there's just no denying their talent and creativity. They get a lot of love from fans of Band-Maid, Nemophila, Sokoninaru, you name it.... It helps that we know that they can do hard rock and metal when they want to. They've pushed the boundaries of my musical taste more than any other band.
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘funk meets jazz meets techno punk i am still trying to wrap my head around the grooves from the first time i heard them weeks ago, very cool band no one will put them in a genre box that's for sure !
You bet they're good musicians, these girls can play anything better than a lot of bands, they've been around for quite some time now. Now try th-cam.com/video/HK3ZN5bpr-M/w-d-xo.html you shouldn't be disappointed with one of the major japanese band of the past 20 years.
Gacharic Spin is masters of controlled chaos!
F Chopper Koga is the bassist. How's that for a badass name? 🤘
Thanks bro 👍

Great reaction, but Gachapin often make surprising key changes.
✌
GS is awesome🤘🏻👍🏻
On that last keyboard solo, it sounded like she had it set to sound like steel drums - which was cool.
“Ga-cha,” like “Cha-cha.” No working musical instruments were harmed in the making of this video.
In my world they're the best rock band out there, fantastic song writers, fantastic musicians and fantastic performers...they need to be seen live! Nice reaction!
Top 2 Japanese band with Hanabie ;) Koga is the slap queen

Gacharic Spin is a fantastic band. Listen to their song I wish I and you even get some metal screams/growls😄👍
I love this group! They are so fun. I wish they were better known and I wish they would come to the US.

Random thought - I think Frank Zappa would love this band. Could be wrong. Usually am. This band is really good and really fun!
The phenomenal Oreo on keys. Super talented band. Check out any of their live performances. They bring so much energy.

I know many people will not agree with me or even know what I’m talking about, but for me… Gacharic Spin is today’s Oingo Boingo.

Oingo Boingo was Danny Elfman’s rock/ punk/ alt band from the late 70’s to early 90’s
