  • Reynisfjara beach is a black sand beach in South Iceland, located close to the town Vík. It is notable for its basalt columns, seen in Reynisfjall mountain and tall rock formations in the sea, collectively known as Reynisdrangar. Despite the beautiful scenery great caution is adviced as the waves can be very dangerous and have caused fatalities.
    Information about the tour:
    00:41 - The sign reads: Danger! Dangerous sneaker waves.
    00:58 - The cliff with a hole in it seen far away is Dyrhólaey.
    02:47 - Reynisdrangar, tall rock formations in the sea. The mountain to the left is Reynisfjall.
    03:32 - Notice the basalt columns surrounding the cave and the mountain side.

    Wow look at how much erosion happened! There was much more beach sand on the right at the 4 minute mark. It was never that steep before

    Great Video but bad day to go to Reynisdrangar , the way is closed by high water. Amazing to see how the waves modified this part of the beach since past year!

    • @IcelandHotSpots
      @IcelandHotSpots  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Patrick. Interesting do you think the waves have eroded something away?

    • @macpatman
      @macpatman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@IcelandHotSpots Yes, it looks like the sea has shaped the stairs shown at 3:27. Before, the beach was gently sloping, the large stones were not there and the sand was less visible. It seems that the sea has pushed the beach upwards.

      Haha yes I guess, although the volcanic soil is very nutrient dense. But can easily erode.
