  • Modifying the factory intake airbox on my VTX 1300s for better engine breathability and performance. A nice simple mod anyone can do and it should only take 30 or so minutes to complete.

      Thank you! I recently traded it in after 20 years of ownership and due to it's condition and logged service history, I got 4000USD for it. I only paid 8000USD for it 20 years ago. Just goes to show, that if you keep something in great shape, it holds it value 😀
      Thanks for the compliment!

    Nice easy mod, thanks. Looks like its designed that way for noise supression. Every Honda motorcycle Ive owned seems to have something like this or a vacuum actuated flap of some kind. They always sound better and run a little better after doing this. Cheers!

    I like your version better than others I’ve seen. I prefer keeping it looking stock on the outside but improving the inside. Have you noticed much difference in how it runs since the mod?

      "To me" it seems more responsive and a little more power, I'm glad I did this to my VTX1300, it was well worth the time and effort. Thank you for your comments.

      @@tanktankerson1042 thanks for the reply. I’m considering the PAIR valve mod and this air box mod just to let it breath a bit more than stock and maybe get rid of decel pop and backfiring. Thanks for the video.

      @@douglashill3967 Sounds awesome Doug, let me know how that goes. I just removed and reinstalled the rear wheel and I'll be posting a video of that soon. It's not as bad as I thought and if it helps anyone out there I'll be happy. RSOT Bud!

    If you extend the intake a little more away for engine where it can suck in cold air may be it will give more power cause cold air is better and your intake is were most of the air gets hot due to engine heat

      True, and that's a great idea! I no longer have the bike or I'd try to figure out how to accomplish that. Thanks for the great comment, if you do extend yours, let me know.

      Well i am trying many modifications but my bike being a carbureted one and having a cdi limits the possibility of the Idea of working the modification. And mine is a Royal Enfield 350 so one small engine and the airbox is away from the engine 😂 but still i crave for modifications

    Can you tell me where you purchased your Air Intake cover with the logo "Ride to Live and Live to ride" please. Thanks!

      I bought it back in 2005, the Company that sold it was selling tons of chrome accessories at the time for the VTX motorcycles. Unfortunately, the Company has gone out of business so I am not sure what other Companies out there might sell it. Wish I could have been more help.

      Hi Tank, thanks for getting back to me. After I asked that question I did find a website that has a picture of the VTX1300 Air intake with the logo, however when you try and select it only give you options for the VT/VLX 600 and the VT1300. Website is value accessories

    Did you hve to rejet carb?

    • @tanktankerson1042
      @tanktankerson1042  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not with this mod but I did rejet the carbs back in 2005 when I added new Vance and Hines pipes and a K&N Air Filter.
