Great informative video. I am in the process of building my Cerakote shop in my garage. I am excited to get start but nervous at the same time. Your video has given me confidence.
Love the work. I have played with Cerakote as an amateur, thinking about going full in as a professional. The addition of the laser graphics is pretty wild. I never thought of doing that.
I've done some 3d printed masking for Cerakote before, it definitely takes some time and thought to get the "puzzle" to fit together and to get the sizes right, but it did work pretty well.
Love this video. Super helpful. I'm in the very early process of getting my business started. Your videos are inspiring and I also feel the same excitement you feel. If you have any way to connect other than youtube for mentorship/guidance, I'm all for it. Good luck and keep up the good work 👍
Iwata is OK and I'm sure it's fine for the job and ive personal owned one... But... Try a sata minijet, the atomisation is unmatched with a perfect flawless fan. Laying down paint is so satisfying with one and worth the extra money 100%. Q. I'm not familiar with cerakote or its viscosity but watching the vid it doesn't look to different from a 2:1 primer!? It seems to cling well as you got a full wet coat on your first pass or do you use some type of promoter? And Are you useing a standard 1 mm nozzle? I think you've done a great job, my one critique (and it's a small one) as a profectionist I would like to have seen the topography on the but plates continue on from one another so it flowed continously.
I've been cerakoting as a hobby for a while now and I really need to take their certification training. I seen the laser setup at shot show this year and that beats stencil work and multiple colors all around! Lol Beautiful work Gavin, that topo style is my new favorite design. Now I need a laser 🙄
@gavintoobe I know you said your not an expert but I think you might care about this because of your attention to detail. But vector formats (.svg, .eps) are not simply made up of a bunch of little points. Thats called a Raster file (.png, .jpg) where all the points (dot or pixels) make up the line. In a vector file any point is a vertex where the file describe distance, direction and the curves and lines between vertices. That math is what makes a vector files like scalable vector graphics (.svg) scalable. If it where a raster file when you scale it you would loose resolution because you have a predefined grid of dots or points per inch and scaling the file makes the dot & points larger and the resulting image is pixelated ok love the channel and the growth and direction of things keep crushing it!
Gavin, really like the chassis looks great. But the laser engraving. The laser job on the flat surfaces look perfect. But can that type of thing be done on a contoured surface such as a barrel? I have a project I'm working on that needs engraving over Cerakote on a barrel and I'm having problems finding somewhere to get it done. And the project I'm working on happens to be my own 50BMG.
I am just starting out in Custom rifle builds, I plan to do it start to finish, which includes Cerakoting and laser engraving, I have a 60w JPT MOPA. My question, on actions, are you Cerakoting the inside? I have seen others doing it, but always thought it could cause a bolt not to function properly?
We have been doing this for years. Idk why cerakote guys are acting like this is a new thing. PS ezcad is trash and loves to crash. Light burn is far superior.
Love Cerakote. Have a good friend who is a wizard at it. Made me a believer in that stuff!
It is an amazing product and process! I'm hooked...

That is a sharp looking rifle. Both this and the 1776 rifle turned out really well.
Great Job, that is a work of art for sure, very impressive
Gavin this is truly impressive work you never disappoint. I can't wait till it's my turn to have you guys build me a rifle
That’s a really dope Cerakote job!!
Beautiful result.
I just started my cerakote and stippling business and I’m waiting till I can afford to get a laser and a couple other things. Wish me luck
I would like to do this as a retired veteran…seems like a great business.
Funny you say you're addicted to OD Green , I just got done with OD Green build air cure cerakote on the scope and magazines
Thanks for the video! I'm learning cerakote myself and was wondering why you didn't gas out your parts before coating? Thanks again!

Wow so much in to it looks great

Love it.. Just curious what optics/brand/magnification do you have on that rifle?
If I wanted my XLR weights cerakoted and maybe 2-3 other parts (same color), how much money are we talking about?
Thank you.

H series on a barrel? Shouldn’t you have used C series?
Inspiring!
Can you coat a mdt xrs chassis
Why did you clean and acetone dip the parts before you blasted them?
You have to be very careful not to contaminate your blasting media, otherwise, you will grease up all of the parts that you blast!
Hey Gavin, I’m wanting to build a custom rifle and I have a few questions, how can I reach you via DM?
What kind of fiber? q, or mopa?
What laser do you have?
This a fiber laser?
Gavin I was wondering if this up-and-coming gun legislation passes, is it gonna affect you in any way.
Yeah, sexy rifle! I like it a lot.
Thank you!!!

Cerakote + laser engraving = cool... nahh... sub zero kind of coolness!
Don't ever cerakote a barrel, action, bolt or receiver. You will regret it. Cerakote will jam your action
You can cerakote a barrel! I do not Cerakote the inside of the receiver or the bolt body. I'm thinking that's what you mean here?
Yes, I have a Cerakote AR10 barrel & a bolt gun action & barrel. No problems with either gun for years. 🧐
