Really cool seeing how every runner was able to just slip into back-up strats without even hesitating whenever they took a hit.
Awesome race!! Well done to all runners. Everyone had the lead at various times in the run. In a game this tight and optimized, that's really cool to see!! Literally down to frames at times.
Kudos to the commentators as well. Very informative, entertaining, and relevant. Kept up with the action and kept us mere mortals in the race as well ;)

You didn't talk about the frame rules being like a bus.

The runs and the runners are amazing, but the framerate on gtace's stream hurts my head!
Yeah it must have been a problem on GDQ's end because usually my capture is a crisp 60 FPS. Sucks because it is really bad throughout both races.

also, i only played this on GBC, did they always reset to small mario before that? on GBC, it only resets from firestarter to big boi to small mario

Man, this is one of the closest races I've seen here, was anyone's race at almost any given time.

When i played SMB in my childhood i smashed the controller in the corner everytime i hitted a enemy. :-(
It's a testament to great speed-running when each runner was in the lead for a good portion of it.
How was this organised with Covid-19 implementations?
Everything was done remotely. They didn’t meet anywhere. All streaming and commenting was done from home.
spend years to develop a game. Speed runner finish under 20 minutes
But these runners spend hundreds of hours practicing. They play this game more than anyone else just to finish in 20 minutes.
It takes thousands of hours of practice on that game to learn and become a top runner, though.
