I'm not sure what you are asking. Once you move your selection off the canvas, click on Menu and Insert and open up a new picture. You can then move your selection into a new picture.

Move your selection off to the side. Click the Menu button and click Select-Insert and add a picture. Move your selection into the new picture.
Why my background is white, after I magic select object?
In the magic select menu, be sure the click the box that says--Autofill Background.

It depends on the picture you choose. It works best with a lot of color contrast.
