- Tom had some bad luck with his tire coming off his dirt bike. We were as far back in the woods as could be so to get him back we had to get creative and pull out the trusty zip ties.

Tom ripped the bead wire out of the bead while fitting the tire.
He has over strained the bead by not sinking the off side of the tire into the rim well.
You will hear a crunching noise as you are over straining the bead with the tire lever.
The wire will still be inside the rim but the rubber part of the bead will continuously loop outside the rim.
You can see the bead wire hangin out at 14:28
Ha! Had exactly that happen on a mates bike a couple of weeks ago. So you fix it once but yeah, it just keeps falling off the rim. Just proves that when it goes soft, it's hard to keep it up..... 😆
I have tried this in the past and basically we got about 15 feet before all the zip ties were broken.

I used to use bibs, then I tried tubliss and never looked back. My buddy uses tubliss too, he got a rear flat and still finished out the days ride.

I got back into dirt bikes 6 years ago after a 36 year hiatus at 58. My last dirt bike was a 1978 RM 125. I have now gone through 4 Yamaha WR 450’s and still have one. I have done quite a few events over the last few years on the WRs including one of the wettest, muddiest Corduroys in history. I just took possession of a brand new Beta 300RR to add to the one WR I still have. The best of both worlds I think. Hope this helps with your decision. Cheers from North Eastern Ontario. A winter wonderland at the moment. At least another 60 days before I get to test ride the Beta.
PS. Your decision to buy and compete on a Beta was instrumental in my decision to buy one.
Same here, almost...the hiatus, the age (minus 6 years), the geography (NE Ont), the HD tube & tire pressure. Have a good summer with the 300...you'll surely love it at the Cord should you decide to torture yourself again!

Great idea you should get gopro for everyone and then u can go through and pick the best angles for your vids everyone sees something different
I was at home depot the other day and decided to pick up some zip ties. They had "self cutting" zip ties for like twice the price and I was like what the hell i'm not paying that for zip ties! I can just snip them! Seeing how they can be useful now.

Always nice to have another ZA1 video to enjoy with morning coffee as the snow piles up. We had to do the same tire trick on a bike on one of the last runs of the season, the zip ties also didn't hold. We ended up using a ratchet strap and electrical tape. Regarding the camera, I run into the same issue but on the other side I can edit the video to make me look heroic lol.

See when this happened to me I just rode it back on the rim. I run mousse and I ride hard enduro what do I care if the rims dented? Not like my bike has any resale value anyway 😂

From my experience up here in rocky northeastern Ontario on my WR 450’s. Heavy duty IRC tubes, two rimlocks on the rear tire and between 10 and 14 psi. Haven’t had an issue so far. In Tom’s case maybe a few more rim locks?!
