I literally have been doing everything wrong when it comes to eye shadow applications!!! Never had I ever gotten this kind of technique advice from Sephora or Ulta Beauty cosmetic techs. I didn't think there was so much meticulous technique to this ... I just smacked on pretty shadow on my lids, eye liner and mascara ... I watched and re-watched your video until I got the technique down right! OMG I didn't even recognize myself in the mirror! My eyes have never looked so bright and beautiful before!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! You have massive talent!!
Thank you for that comment. I have never used primer, concealer, or anything like that on my eyes. I did just like you did. I now have a list of stuff to get and can't wait to do it like suggested in video. If you can do it, now I know I can! So thank you!
Thank you so very much for conducting yourself like an instructor and not trying to be a bad character on SNL. Your voice is not bursting anyone's eardrums and your instructions are top- knoch. Again, thank you.
wow, I followed your instructions, and my eyeshadow look turned out much better than before. Thank you so much! The detailed instruction is much better than just telling us to blend blend blend. Great job!!!
I'm going to repeat what others have said but add that I've watched a lot of make-up vids lately but you are the only person who explains the strokes, the tools and fully explain each step. Thank you!!
This was very helpful. I've always just put on eye primer and THEN eyeshadow. This resulted in "patchy" placements of the shadows. Now I will use a loose power to set the primer. Thanks Haley 💜
@@kimbrodsky6157 I found out that when I set my eyeprimer it loses the ability to hold the eyeshadow properly. You just need to try a different eyeshadow base and you won't have that problem
There are SO many eye-shadow tut's, hundreds if not thousands. YOURS, my love, is hands dwn the BEST. They all say "complete, hacks, in depth, 4 beginners" umm no. Keep doing what u do, Chica. 👌👍
After months of hunting down EVERY eyeshadow in this video (bc some were discontinued) on eBay, Mercari, Glambot ect..I finally have all of them 😄 they're all gorgeous and compliment each other perfectly. It's my favorite eye look. She's so talented. I thought after 20yrs of doing my makeup (I'm 36) I knew what I was doing but nope! She's taught me so much! Thx Haley!😍
who' watching this in 2019😆 love how you explained everything in detail... you are so pretty & really good in what you're doing💋💋💋 love the eye makeup look too😍😍😍 i'm a new subbie🥰🥰🥰
Lol.. still watching in 2021.. This is definitely a video that will be useful until the end of time! Thanks to those willing to share their tips , tricks and knowledge.. I love learning new and better ways to look good!
Although I can't apply eyeshadow the way you do because my eyelids are a bit crepey and droopy, due to my age, I think your layering technique is something I can apply. Thank you for being concise & to the point. Great clear video.
I have to thank you. I am not a make up beginner and can usually fake what I don't properly know into looking good, but this video just taught me the few easy hacks that I absolutely NEEDED to learn. My makeup is now perfect thanks to this video. You've gained a devoted subscriber and I cannot wait to see what else you can teach me!
watching this in 2019😆😆😆 & seeing your comments makes me feel like heaven🙊 what more for her💋 i've been watching you like for decade & was so inspired to make a channel way back then but i'm not confident to do that😂😂😂 and i'm not really a pro or whatever , but now i'm like what am i waiting for i'll just do what i love to do which is having fun with makeup😊 & i just started my YT channel. you're such a talented artist🙌🏼 you really amazed me & i'm a new subbie to her channel too, i admire you having time to watch & comment on other youtuber, i think i also see you commented on gin amber or penny smith? about skincare i forgot who😆 but yeah you're a boss in the makeup industry yet humble enough to love other's work❤️❤️❤️🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Great video! I am one that just does a swipe of eyeshadow. I dont spend much time on make up. You have inspired me to at least try. Very pretty and I too use natural colored when I do eyeshadow. Love that you dont use music in the back ground.
I literally have been replaying the middle of this vid every time I’ve been doing my eyeshadow and it always comes out way better than when I don’t 🙂 thanks for making such an easy guide 🙏🏻
Loved the way you explained everything! I appreciate a beauty blogger that goes right into the tutorial! and not talk so much about herself you are clear and concise ! Congratulations on a excellent tutorial. I'm now your number 1 fan!
One of the best tutorials ever! I have watched videos for ever, but not one described why you blend,, and how to blend! Absolutely lovely...I can hardly wait to do my eyes in the morning....❤️
I've been doing my makeup for years but always enjoy watching makeup videos to learn from others. I have to say that i thoroughly enjoyed this tutorial. It was well explained, simplified and perfectly demonstrated. I rediscovered the last tip/trick to place translucent powder in the outer edge of the eyes to draw that line. Beautifully done!
Love love loveee the video! So detailed and soo flawless! Definitely going to try these tips out on my eyeshadow makeup as soon as possible! Keep up the amazing tutorials!
Thank you!!!A thousand times, thank you!!! Perfect video! Fun, informative, direct to the point and we could see the whole process. Again, THANK YOU!!!
I watch many, many tutorials and I must say this one is one of the best and using shades of color of my choice. Watching this, sharing this on my Facebook- Please never delete this video as I personally love the look and learning how to create it. Thank you so much for sharing! Absolutely beautiful!
Kaitlyn Sarah haha I've gotta go back n check out her nose now.. just today I was watching nose contouring.. there's tons of them out there... I couldn't believe my eyes.. the guy does it all on himself.. I couldn't believe my eyes
I've watched dozens of eye shadow tutorials They help get the idea of applying but not really telling you the basics. Your video however is different, I feel I have really learnt something and at last was able to apply an eye shadow that looked half decent. Thank you
Your video is so great, you do a fabulous job. Very genuwine, and real, very thourou. Most girls talk, and talk, and their videos are like 15 minutes long, you get to the pount, and teach in a great way, not full of yourself, it's very refreshing!
If you could do this same type of video for the rest of your face that would be amazing ! Like break down what brushes you use for contour and bronzing and baking ! Thank you !!
oh my God, where have you been all my days, this definitely the best eyeshadow blending I have ever seen , just fyi, I am old school, so I have been around for a while, THANK YOU SO MUCH
This is THE best detailed, instructional tutorial I've watched on eyeshadow application! I appreciate you taking the time to be descriptive on the little details - so helpful and educational! Keep up the good work (as always 😉)!
Honestly, my favorite eyeshadow tutorial on TH-cam... This popped in my recommended even though it's almost 4 years old and I'm not complaining. After years of trying to understand what to do then getting impatient and packing on shimmer then running out the door, I might finally get it right. I think this is the first tutorial I've seen that uses the translucent on top of the concealer before the transition and the tackiness may be my biggest issue.
I was just browsing my feed and came across this video, I like watching these types of videos because although I know how to apply shadow maybe your tutorial has something in it I didn’t know 🤷🏻♀️ or a great hack/trick!! New subscriber I thought you were fantastic your shadow looked AHHH MAZING and now I get the pleasure of binge watching some of your tutorials 🥰🥰
Thank you for taking the time to give tips about blending and especially cleaning the brush when using different colours, and tapping the brush before applying. Most of the videos I've seen on eye make up hardly mention this. Maybe they assume that the viewer would automatically know to do this, but I'm an absolute beginner and this video is very thorough for me. When I saw other videos not mention wiping the brushes in between colours I felt that they probably had a fresh brush for each new colour they were using!!...lol!!
I use the Urban Decay primer potion in Eden! It's tinted exactly like a concealer. I have dark veins and redness as well and it covers it up perfectly and then my shadow doesn't budge! You should try that one. Def a winner.
Kylie Flora I use it in enigma and yeah basically same! I love the colored/tinted ones because they keep my eyelids from getting oily AND they also cover everything up
Hey Haley, this is such a nice tutorial, is there any chance that you could do something that will look exactly like this, but for tanned skin? thank you!
Does anyone else have the issue where they keep blending, like we're told, but then you've literally just blended all the product away and you can't even see it anymore? 😂
thanx for the tips! thinking of getting chocolate gold eye palette and wondered how best to apply and what possible makeup looks I could do with it. I like the colours used here
This was very helpful. You are so talented when it comes to makeup! I think you should have wayyy more subscribers. (Not that you don't have a lot) just think you are way more talented with makeup than some of the big you tubers who have millions of subs.
Absolutely beautiful, what a difference it makes to your beautiful face, exactly the look I was looking for, your video is awesome because you take time to show and explain everything it was a real awesome watching you do your magic keep them coming
Great tutorial! Always looking to up my eye makeup game - it's pretty average. A good tip I saw on YT for those of us with aging skin (over 35) is to keep the eyeshadow above the line between the outer corner of your eye and your eyebrow. For quick brush cleanups I like to have a microfiber cloth, or towel, next to me.
You did a.great job in this video. This is the first time I've seen one of your videos, and I'm really impressed. Your presentation style is relaxed, accessible, and easy to understand. You were FANTASTIC at breaking things down in manageable step-by-step process that we can all follow. Watching this for the second time, I wish I could sit next to you doing our makeup together. Looking forward to checking out other videos that you've done. Thank you for all of your hard work!!! ☺
I have been subscribed for awhile and I'm just rewatching this video now and realizing how helpful it is. I was using the urban decay eye primer and I didn't like how I could always see my veins under my shadow. I'm going to switch to using concealer and setting powder instead! Thank you! xx
Your video was so helpful! I just bought my first set of brushes for eye shadow. You explain and show how to use them, motion and colors perfectly. Made it so much easier. Until today, I have always used the little foam q-tips application sticks pallets come with. Make-up is actually fun now 😁
New subbie alert, I appreciate your very informative tutorial, I followed you to the letter and wow 😳 I was impressed on how good my eyes looked, sending you a virtual HUGGGGG!! Thank you im going to watch your videos!!
Out of all the eyeshadow tutorials I've watched for a year now, this is the ONLY one that worked for me, you're awesome! Thanks so much for teaching me, even tho I still suck but that's my fault. I'm just starting to wear makeup at 26 yr old 😂, I never had anyone to teach me so now I'm getting older and need it I've gravitated towards tutorials but yours are absolutely the best. Hands down!
Jamie The trick with hooded eyes is placing everything higher than you would a normal eye, so transition colors higher, lid color over your actual crease, Alissa Ashley and Nikkietutorials both have hooded eyes and make great tutorials 😊 good luck
Omg, just randomly found your channel and I loved it! This is the most helpful eyeshadow video I've ever found. I have hooded eyes so I never really cared about eyeshadows before but I've been wanting to try it out now so thank you
I just wanted to thank you for making this video. I am new to your channel, and I know this is an older video but for someone like me, all this info is a blessing. 🤗Thank you
Beautiful job! I wish my eyelids were 20 years younger. Am in my mid 40's and my eyeshadows don't blend that easy because of my wrinkles on my eyelids!
I've noticed if I take my pinky and lightly hold it on my temple, it helps to keep skin in place and firm without distorting my eye shape itself so everything goes where it is supposed to. Wayne Goss offered up that one and it made such a big difference... I'm 39. It's not so much lines but rather skin that wants to move around a bit on me.
Yeah I know right its a bummer....I bought the most beautiful eyeshadow palette and I got it and I've been watching twenty-year-olds put on their eye shadow and I'm just not looking as good because of the wrinkles. I'm like What was I thinkin by - $50 eyeshadow palette and trying to do this 😞
So glad i finally found this less intimidating eye-shadow tutorial. You explained perfectly. i definitely subscribed. 😍 Can't wait to try this instead of just my 1 or 2 boring eye shadows. TY girl! ❤️
Beautiful job. I love your work. It would be so perfect for us older ladies, I’m 66, if you could show us what to do on wrinkled eye lids. Maybe you could use an older model. Thank you pretty girl- Grammie
Beautiful as always Haley 😍 I've had this question for a while but why do you pick up a lot of shadow and tap it off instead of just picking up less to begin with?
I try to stay away from eye tutorials that are long and use lots of powders bc as a beginner, when I started playing and thinking 'I got this'... 👈 never had it. But this was really awesome & simple with detail and explanation. I watched tutorials for years but it wasn't until I simplified it, understood why and the 'theory' of eyeshadow & purpose that one day I just had that aha moment and could really play. So many different techniques but understanding the 'why', investing in the right brushes & finding complimentary shades both for my complexion (cool) & complimentary shades that worked together (& not mixing cool & warm... some can, I can't). Videos like this are great tho & people like Robert Welsh and Wayne Goss who are more about technique than review. Thanks😁
how often do you clean your brushes? With all the blending and everything, can you go into your next makeup day using whatever is on the brushes and starting new? Thanks for the help.
I literally have been doing everything wrong when it comes to eye shadow applications!!! Never had I ever gotten this kind of technique advice from Sephora or Ulta Beauty cosmetic techs. Hello 👋 how are you doing
Your video was so helpful! I just bought my first set of brushes for eye shadow. You explain and show how to use them, motion and colors perfectly. Made it so much easier.
Until today, I have always used the little foam q-tips application sticks pallets come with. Make-up is actually fun now 😁
I use a hair donut to clean off my brushes, it works great, it's way cheaper then a colour switch and you won't get eyeshadow all over your clothes
I saw so many videos on how to apply eyeshadow, and you honey baby took the crown! You're the best! Xo

Jamie The trick with hooded eyes is placing everything higher than you would a normal eye, so transition colors higher, lid color over your actual crease, Alissa Ashley and Nikkietutorials both have hooded eyes and make great tutorials 😊 good luck
Meme Kween thank you for your response!
Jamie anything I can do to help 😊💖
Meme Kween thank u it also helped me
I really needed this tricks. I'm a beginner and my prom is soon so I was thinking on a similar makeup look for the event. Thank you so much! 💖
That's an awesome eyeshadow tutorial. Loved it.
I have stared eyed and never remember it!!! I will have to pull it Back out!! This look is gorgeous!! Loved the tips!!!!!
what eyeshadow colour combination is best for dark eyes?
I have brown/black eyes and I love how light pink eyeshadow looks like on me. :) We could also wear pretty much any color.
Just stumbled on this video.... girl you are one amazing teacher.... no one does it like you 👍🏼
Would love to see list of products used in this video, especially brushes
Omg, just randomly found your channel and I loved it! This is the most helpful eyeshadow video I've ever found. I have hooded eyes so I never really cared about eyeshadows before but I've been wanting to try it out now so thank you
This is super helpful! I try to recreate youtuber eye looks all the time and I feel like it never works because I don't actually know how to apply it!
Hello 👋 how are you doing
I just wanted to thank you for making this video. I am new to your channel, and I know this is an older video but for someone like me, all this info is a blessing. 🤗Thank you
Beautiful job! I wish my eyelids were 20 years younger. Am in my mid 40's and my eyeshadows don't blend that easy because of my wrinkles on my eyelids!
Girl same.
I'm like What was I thinkin by - $50 eyeshadow palette and trying to do this 😞
i really like the tip for blending blanc from brow onto creme brulee to make it look beautifully blended - thx
This was extremely helpful! Thank you!
Hello 👋 how are you doing
Wow 🤩😍 Very perfect make up and information! Thanks a lot! 👏👏👏👏👏
Beautiful as always Haley 😍 I've had this question for a while but why do you pick up a lot of shadow and tap it off instead of just picking up less to begin with?
Randi W it wouldn’t be enough color. You need the intensity of the color but not the mess of excess powder.
Thanks😁

Great video explaining. Thank you. I think my problem is knowing which colors to use for an eye look 😫
Marybeth Fowler same here
Same! I have way too many favourite shadows that I want to use all at once😂
Marybeth Fowler Same
how often do you clean your brushes? With all the blending and everything, can you go into your next makeup day using whatever is on the brushes and starting new? Thanks for the help.
