Who will pay for it? These people? Do you mean a hospital for treatment or a "prison for crazy people"? Because often when i see people say this they just mean "i wish we could put these people in a box and just forget about them again.
@@breadfella well here is the way it breaks. 30% of them are mentally ill. 30% of them hard drug addicted. 30% of them or just plain thieves. And criminals of one form or another. 10% of them are actually. And all of them need intense intervention and guidance
@@breadfella we are paying for it with all the trash removal 😭 with all the vandalism 🤪 with all the emergency room visits 😲 with all the police overtime 🤔 with all the shoplifting 😏 with all the graffiti 😏 so it would be cheaper in the long run.. we didn't have these problems in the 60s and 70s or 80.. because we had operational. Mental institutions. And state hospitals
Their brains are rewired, they are no longer given the signals that they are endanger living on the streets. They are not aware that it is too cold, too hot, they are thirsty, hungry. It's inhumane to allow them to die like this! They may look like they are ok, but they are slowly and surely passing away with out help. They aren't going to ask for themselves.
I live in Portland. I'm originally from New York City, and the crisis in Portland is ridiculously more pervasive and widespread than I ever encountered in NY. Drugs are DECRIMINALIZED here, and the population is generally passive-aggressive to an astonishingly talented level. So what we have is a laissez-faire attitude towards mainly drug-induced, mentally-ill people slowly killing themselves in the public eye. When I moved here in 2010, that was not the case. It's been a slow decline exacerbated by the pandemic.
I'm familiar with Wendy and she is kind of homeless person that other homeless people try to avoid. She would steal sugar out of donut to support her drug habits and she's known to victimized the elderly and the developmental delayed. Yes, Portland probably has enabled the homeless and their aren't any easy solutions in the current future. But Wendy is part of the problem and she shouldn't be the voice of the homeless. KUDOS TO HOMELESS ADVOCATES! And please donate to the Blanchett house, they are truly doing great things and they should be supported instead of receiving criticism.
Lower housing costs, that would help. Tillamook on the coasts homeless have no hope of housing there are no places to rent and the price of a house is crazy high for what is offered. There was a house for sale up the street from my place I rent that was only 650sq.ft. 2 bedrooms 1 bath that was listed at 379,999$ the payment for that is not logical. liveable places to rent are not priced anywhere close to what could be afforded.
She’s being honest - and she’s not lying - she’s crying because she’s out of drugs ! As a former addict I know
They need to reopen the state hospital. Get these people off the streets and away from their drug dealers

the more services offered, the more homeless arrive.
Cities with zero homeless support seem to have no homeless.
Just pointing out some facts
She's not a victim, she chose this life and stop co-enabling this portland!
So...what's your solution? Just let her freeze/overheat or starve to death?
These "non profits" all make a fortune on the homeless.
