I’ve stayed at both resorts twice. I would rate Secrets Akumal well above Valentin. It’s newer, nice entry level rooms (deluxe/silver vs Secrets junior suites), better service. Food is pretty comparable. More lively night life normally at the Valentin but Secrets has entertainment daily and nightly
