I run the chip as well. The potential of dumping half your library on the board in one turn is real. Here are some more suggestions: Displacer Kitten - blinks a permanent you control everythime you play a noncreature spell. Which includes most artifacts. A real secret commander in this deck with many good targets - the most spectacular being Simularcum, Thought Monitor and Portal to Phyrexia, if you are feeling oppressive. Altar of Dementia: your source of boardwipe vengeance and killing off pillow forts. With many, many flying 4/4s generated in a single turn, this can kill off a player or two instantly. Crashing Drawbridge: your source of mass haste to kill in the same turn you pop off. Swiftfoot boots to enable it. Mana Vault/Basalt Monolith/Thran Dynamo: cheap mana, especially with the Kitten around. High Tide / Palinchron / Perengrine Drake: Cast HT when you intent to pop off. Cast Palinchron with six islands for infinite mana, or Perengrine Drake when you have the Kitten ready. Treasure Trove: trade mana for cards. Good when you have a mana abundance. Capsize: a win condition if you get a mana engine going. Archmages Ascension: Since you can easiily draw cards during each turn, activating this usually closes out the game, since you can draw all combo pieces in one turn.
This deck cleaned house last Friday; had no idea how solid the build was. Seems like one of the only real weaknesses was a card I added because I thought it was going to be better. That'll learn me to 2nd guess ol' Grazzet
There were quite a few cards that I added here from that were cut from the precons - so yeah, most folks can get a decent amount of cards for this with those cuts easy if they upgraded the it.
The local fame of this deck grows after yet another amazing showing last night at the tables. I muffed the game badly with a key misplay right at the end, but that fact that I survived against some beefy and more expensive decks was telling. Could have won darnit... In the end, we got a new story to tell about how a cut rate deck nearly cleaned the clocks of some pricey builds
Glad to hear that this build has been making waves within your playgroup! Granted, it is one of the more competitive builds I've made but its still good to know that, for the budget, it can still hang with the bigger price tag builds. Goes to show that budget doesn't have to mean bad!
I know this video is a couple months old now, but I just built this deck and absolutely love it. I'm going to be upgrading it a bit with more expensive cards, and am considering getting an alter for the Reality Chip itself. Thanks for the awesome list!
Glad you enjoyed it! This is probably one of more powerful decks I've built and there are a few in my own playgroup that enjoy it quite a bit as well, so you're in good company!
cards which would also perfectly fit are. Paradoxical Outcome (draw) Mystic Forge (draw / 2nd commander) Future Sight (draw/ 2nd commander) Rise and Shine (finisher) if you like combos : sensei's top + aetherflux inspiring Statuary (mana/ ramp for non artifact) forsaken monument (wincon with thopthers) words of wind (to get annoying and maybe infinite with mana pos. rocks and draw.) academy ruins (recursion)
Good suggestions, though I have to say that, while I'm usually all for redundancy, Future sight and Mystic Forge seem like a bit of overkill to me since they are effectively dead cards if we have our commander in play (which doesn't really help the build - except for mystic forges 1 per turn topdeck clear). Otherwise, I do agree with most of your other picks.
I'd play Fblthp in this deck just because it would be so easy to get his draw two and not many decks can I'm having a tough time choosing between Hidetsugu and Greasefang. I'm a Rakdos fanboy at heart, but vehicle reanimator is entirely new theme. So I hope one of those two are next!
Very true, didn't think about that when building but Fblthp would fit the bill - Good suggestion!. Looks like Hidetsugu has got a solid lead at this time, so you may get your wish yet!
I know it's been mentioned already that Tolarian Academy is banned in EDH, but does anyone find it odd that Gaea's Cradle isn't banned? You actually have a lot more to do with tons of green mana plus creature tokens help boost mana production faster than even artifact tokens, even considering the recent popularity of Treasure tokens.
It's the 0-Mana artifacts that break Academy. Especially together with Affinity effects. Imagine the amount of mana you can have on turn 1. Cradle doesn't provide nearly the same insanity.
You built the exact deck that I was looking for 🙂Subbed. I was just a bit curious about which main deck cards that you would choose to sub out for the upgrades.
Glad you enjoyed it! As a few quick switches, I would try the following - Trophy Mage >>> Fabricate Island >>> Inventors' Fair Island >>> Academy Ruins Whirler Rogue >>> Kappa Cannoneer Master of Etherium >>> Tezzeret, Artifice Master Island >>> Urza's Saga Sky Diamond >>> Urza, Lord High Artificer And Tolarian Academy is banned in commander (which I forgot when making this build.) Hope that helps!
@@GrazzetMTG Thank you! Getting back into magic, and your channel has been extremely helpful. I am excited to see In the upcoming Forgotten Realms set to see if you possibly have budget tech for Tasha/Elminster!
Reality can be whatever I want... provided I use this glorious Cut-Rate deck in testing! Good job as always! My vote goes to Satsuki, since Lore is the best element of all games in my honest opinion, and Sagas embody that to a T. Also I am sick of seeing Greasefang reanimating Parhelion, and Hidetsugu gives me PTSD from that one guy with the Obosh deck that killed everyone every time he could. Day 224 of waiting for the Grazzet face reveal. Say, do you have a favourite number of sorts?
Glad you enjoyed the build and thanks for voting! Being a dedicated follower of Tzeentch (when playing warhammer) I'm obligated to say that its the number 9.
@@GrazzetMTG Forgive me, but I have to have the Ion Cannon Turtle in my deck, which semi-cancels the whole idea of a budget build. Still, I expect this one to be rather frightening
Thanks for voting! And as far as Tolarian Academy goes, either unban it or Ban Gaia's Cradle, which is arguable just as bad but still legal in the format.
Still swinging this deck - just made some mods which sadly takes it out of Grazzet range. Yes, added the new juggernaut commander Graaz to remind me where the original design came from :)
We got a lot of new artifacts so making some modes with them is certainly warranted to keep the build up to date (or just adding some older, pricier options to improve it that way). Graaz, Unstoppable Juggernaut is certainly an interesting addition to the build - I can certainly see it powering up the wide boardstates this build can make to enable alpha strikes and close out games.
@@amee4231 Wait - someone wants to see my madness? Haven't got it all written up, but the basics are in the head after playing the original for awhile. Funny how I've been seeing the Chip frequently in the 99 for awhile now, yet still get quizzical looks when it comes out as a commander. Happy to share when I get it all logged up so I don't forget. I've definitely seen Grazz start using some of the cards I zeroed in on in his artifact builds of late

Been looking for a unique commander to build. I think I found it in Mono blue! Thank you sir! Subbed.

Yeah, this one is powerful. One of my editors favorite ones to pilot, so I would know....
So I pulled the trigger and built this deck, really looking forward to playing with it! Thankyou as always:)
Hope you enjoy it!
How have you enjoyed the deck?
This looks fun. Upgrades Unleashed has a bunch of these cards already, so I might put it together.

just played it, its disgusting, i love it!!!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Tolarian Academy would be cool, but it's banned in commander. Sweet build! Looks pretty fast even without a bunch of flash effects.
Thanks for letting me know - I usually don't roll with cards with pricey so I much have over looked it! And glad to hear you enjoyed the build!

Great tech on a tricky commander/budget
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
What would a decklist look like if you are not on a budget and you want to run The Reality Chip?
thanks, might try it
Hope it works well for you!
Gotta vote for Okiba, love the idea of a graveyard centric vehicle deck
Greasefang would certainly be a fun build, but with the poll results so far she may need to wait for the next one unless there's an upset.
I'd play Fblthp in this deck just because it would be so easy to get his draw two and not many decks can

I'd love to see this with self mill and zombies so you could almost cast your deck for free.
I can see slotting this into a Dimir build like that as just a source of card advantage - wouldn't be half bad!
