Where can I buy the original version of TimeBomb? I know the artwork is terrible but the theme is much clearer (police vs terrorists) for my students, they have no idea what Cthulhu is.

How did you resist not singing it to the tune of "Don't Mess With My Tutu"?
Also, have you ever practiced card magic, or specifically looked at the card handling techniques in it for use in these videos?

I don't care for the Cthulhu theme but it's mildly refreshing that they didn't just throw the 'Dystopian Universe" brand on it.

We've been playing a ton of the print and play version of this. My girlfriend absolutely loves it.
And even though I love the Lovecraft universe, I was disappointed in the theme on this one actually because I thought the wire-clipping aspect of the first one fit so well.
I was excited though to hear that IELLO is putting out a Sherlock Holmes themed version of the original still with the bomb and wire-clipping theme! ...unfortunately it'll only be available in France (but I'm gonna figure out a way to get my hands on a copy!)

Anyone worked out if this can be played solo or not?

Sounds quite similar to the Temple of Terror game with archaeologists and temple guards. Also prefer that theme to the overused tentacle-guy.

I also will wait for the IELLO version: much better theme and genuinely good art.

What about the IELLO version, is it the same game? I'm not too fond of the Cthulhu theme and my students have no idea what it is.

@@dudemistah94The iello version (with far superior Sherlock v. Moriarty art) did not get released in the US, unfortunately.
The did release Timebomb: Revolution, but it only goes up to 6 players instead of 8, has more complex rules, and has a different theme.

Good review, but as soon I saw the word "cthulhu" I was immediately turned off. What, was don't mess with "Zombies" taken?

At last a game that uses the proper Elder Sign!

I like the original Timebomb theme much than this Chtulhu "reprint". I know Zee does not agree, but Chthulu is overused and the theme is not as visual and does not make sense. But I also think that the artwork in both games is really bad, therefore I don't want to own it.

I really enjoyed this game until I found out how to break it. In 5-6 players, there is always a set number of cultists, so if they publicly reveal to each other they can pass the flashlight back and forth until time runs out.
The retheme to Cthulu made me not buy this one. I'm waiting for the IELLO version.
Have you played TimeBomb 2 yet, Zee?

So as soon as one player openly announces they are the cultist everyone at the table should announce they are the cultist in an "I'm Spartacus!" moment and you are back at square one with no reliable information. Why would the non cultists sit quietly whilst that happens?

    • @Brend0ver
      @Brend0ver 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The problem with that is, the good guys then can trust no one and can't get reliable information out of anyone. The cultists could then claim they have 10 elder signs (being a blatant lie), and the good guys could say either a. something equally ridiculous, reducing the amount of information the good guys have, or b. give accurate information and remove themselves from the cultist selection. Also, if you search someone and they don't immediately search you back until the end of the game, then you know they aren't a cultist.

Question is... do you like having friends and playing games with them. If so... you'll quickly forget everything about that strategy.

    • @Brend0ver

Yea. I play with the same group of people every day at lunch and they don't really play any game casually. The game is still a fun casual deduction game. TimeBomb 2 fixes this issue, by being a completely different game.

+Brendover But after the 4 cards are searched the round ends, the cards are reshuffled and a new round starts. Do the cultists get to keep going? Or at this point if the next player was a non cultist could they not then avoid them?
I would have thought a simple rule like Spyfall's "no asking the person who just asked you" would prevent such a reciprocating loop.

Indie Boards and Cards always seems to have the worst card quality especially when you consider the fact that their games tend to be ones that you shuffle a lot.
