- In a couple of days, visitors will be able to enjoy the latest addition to the Seattle Waterfront, but KOMO News got an early look at the project.
The ‘Overlook Walk’ will connect Pike Place Market to the downtown waterfront and take people down to the Aquarium below.
This is another piece for the $806-million waterfront rebuild program. The overlook offers beautiful views of Elliott Bay, a kid’s playground, and in 2025, a café space for food and drinks is expected.
Seattle Center Director Marshall Foster said, “We are very fortunate that this park was on track to become a critical element of the mayor’s downtown activation plan.”

Great looking area a real awesome addition to the waterfront i like the way they hooked up the waterfront with pike place market
Last time I visited, Pikes Place and waterfront was a zombie junkies paradise
@@Dogatemyhomework927 it's not that bad I go all the time mostly tourist everywhere
Wait til the tents start popping up 😂😂😂😂😂
Exactly, this is not going to solve Seattle’s downtown homeless, addiction problem. It just bandaids it up just before the election …. Go figure! I love they are making the appearance of the city ‘better again ‘ now if can vote us into the RED we can make Washington Great Again! Go Red Seattle 2024! This is what will turn the state around. 🙏🏽
The park closes at 10pm each night, so tents won't be allowed to stay. If you'd like to help the homeless, I'm sure they'd appreciate it.
@@Gladness2023 This has been in the works since at least 2012. This is not connected to any particular election, or modern politics in 2024. Please keep your negativity in Kent or wherever you live.
@@Gladness2023only will power helps drugs addicts
I give it 12 hours until it gets tagged.
Its already been tagged, and covered with paint many times during construction. What's your point?
Woo hoo tent city here we come. Oh let's not forget our famous artists with spray cans...
More importantly let's not forget honorable citizens like you who contribute nothing...NOTHING but blame and shitposting.
Just take a look around the city if you even leave your house. Light rail expansion was nice until...real talk.@@budm2528
@@budm2528 I work downtown South of the stadiums and have been attacked twice by the filth you're defending.
@@budm2528 Contribute nothing other than working an honest job, paying bills and taxes that fund this stuff. Contribute nothing, indeed.
Another user unfriendly, concrete eyesore addition. Horrible what the city's done to the once beautiful, funtioning waterfront.
I agree, it doesnt feel like a park, just some weird concrete thing
Even before I moved to Seattle I worked in tourism marketing.
The bureau would bring us up but the convention center was half the size it is now,, the waterfront was a viaduct with tents, degris and derelicts, and it's simply not a walkable city.
But wow! I've walked down there twice in the past month and I'm so happy for the city.
If I stay here I'm going to return to my line of work because wow! I can sell this!🎉
@@IntriguedLioness Thank you for bringing positivity to this news! Seattle isn’t perfect but it’s a great city! 💙💙💙
Old time Seattle was nice. No drug addicts on every corner. But yeah Seattle is now walkable but all the businesses are gone.
what a bunch of BS
Stuffed with rent a cops and closed at night. They will probably have Led Zeppelin cover bands and ranch dressing to make it world class.
Rent a cop is crazyyyyy🤣🤣🤣
the junkies will enjoy this park!
Typical KOMO fan response.
@@Prague1810 are you annoyed by facts? might want to get that checked out.
@@xalspaero Locals and tourists alike will also benefit from this park. All you people do is say something negative. You and your sad life.
sad but true
It's true I can't even go to downtown anymore cause of them it gotten worse
Is that high enough to end someone or just break a leg or two? Also any safety concerns we can test so someone can sue the city for millions maybe a leaking sprinkler on a side walk? Maybe we can get that Queen Anne walker down here to stress test it....
One of the reasons I like autistic communication is that i rarely have to not be literal or concerned I won't be. I don't get the "I can't tell when they're sarcastic" because most of the other autistic folk i know including myself (again adults so this is over compensation) exaggerate to make sure sarcasm is communicated. The only friend i have tgat doesn't is allistic structures the sarcasm so that realizing they're yanking your chain is the inevitable absurd punchline right in the giggles. So no disguised sarcasm (which may be a friend accomodation... Oooh)
Perfect place for a homeless camp
why go there...they live rent free in your little brain...
If your unhoused, there are options available, but the Overlook Walk park closes at 10pm, so you won't be allowed to camp there.
A kids park? Is that a joke? Bringing your child downtown is criminal negligence.
I prefer a working waterfront not one built for entertainment purposes.
Preach! 🙌
The ferry terminal, and Pier 48 (and terminal 5) are all still active. This doesn't displace any of the "working waterfront"
@@absea7918 I think what he meant is the time and money spent to "transform" this space and displacing the businesses that were there before, has not been worth it.
There weren't any businesses right there. It was a double decker freeway that turned into the hillside & went through a tunnel. Businesses were further south.
Great! more homeless shelters, crimes, tagging, garbages, and poops etc etc and lazy policing
Wsste of money 😒
I hope I don’t have to step over puke, poo and sleeping bags with people in them next time I go there. Pukes place was horrible
Except nobody goes to Seattle unless they have to.
This ugly monstrosity is way out of scale and instead of a waterfront, we now have acres of ugly concrete. This is much worse than the viaduct, Seattle has made another huge mistake.
Need more concrete.
Seriously, a tree or some grass would have been nice.
608 million dollar mafia style ripoff
Made traffic way way way worse on alaskan way
860 million? They could have built an abundance of homeless shelters and resolve the issue.
Shelters don't resolve anything long term.
The Bay?
Yes the body of water is called Elliott Bay
0:56 "we demolished the viaduct you could safely walk under, which that disconnected the waterfront and replaced it with a massive multi lane highway you have to chance it to cross". -car centric development creates more car centric development. Basically nothing changed except the hyper rich condo owners get a better view of the poor trying to cross the massive stroad and not get run over.
THANK YOU, my thoughts exactly
Can't see 3rd and Pike from there...
Invite the Chinese president to come. That’ll clean it up
Great! So where do you park?
Its attached to a giant parking garage.
Hey, KOMO viewers! Here’s another thing to whine about. Pour out your negative thoughts. Show us your toxicity!
Just like you are doing, right?
@judd442009 I was going to congratulate him too.😂
@@Prague1810 stop whining loser 🤣
Hey dork
People travel into Seattle? I mean other than to get hard drugs?
Please put Angela Brady in charge of bringing light rail to West Seattle - she is awesome and the waterfront has become the crown jewel of Seattle.
Omg are you being paid to say that?!!
