I just love the passion in your tone, it makes this so easy to understand even though this is my first time trying compositing and this is the first video I watched.
Something great with a node based workflow is how you can change your original input and keep all your composition intact, so it's kinda odd to have to split the exr and relink all the passes every time you change your input... It would be awesome to have an EXR loader node with multiple outputs directly in Fusion, which would make it more viable as an alternative to Nuke for 3D compositors. Really well paced tutorial though !
19:23 the gamma/Lut/gamut workaround might get you similar colors but it won't fully match blenders colors. instead of a "gamut" node, add a "OCIO Colorspace" node. locate "config.ocio" in your blender directory. OCIO Config: C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender 4.0.1\4.0\datafiles\colormanagement\config.ocio Source Space: Linear Rec.709 Output Space: AgX Base sRGB (or filmic, what you used in blender) 6:11 as a color reference i would recommend a .png (to set up the "OCIO Colorspace" node correctly for the first time)
Best tutorial. Finally understood this. love the way you explain things. I know this is old, but i am having a hard time dealing with depth pass in Fusion, especially to use it as a mist pass (if i have a project from unreal). But still the whole z and mist passes are weird for me.
13:35 Bro I was getting excited going "mm mm dang that's good looking" and RIGHT AFTER you go "mm mm mm this looking good." XD Terrific tutorial man, just brilliant.
Thanks, that's great. But: What if that mysterious script does literally... nothing? Even though my EXR renders (made by fusion itself) definitively shows different render passes (Colour, Alpha, Normal, Vector and Position)? What am I doing wrong?
hi thanks a lot for the quality of your tutorial and your help. Is it possible to use this method for rendering passes with image sequences (for video compositing with rendering passes)?
Hi, thanks for the amazing tutorial. I have qustion I did the same you did but the DiffCol is not showing any color except the black i think so when I'm putting it in chanelbolean its making everthing in black Thanks!
Thanks a lot for this great tuto!! Do you know where we should plug the AO layer? tryed to multiply it after the last diffuse boolean but seems to be a bit darker than the beauty pass
First and foremost, great tutorial. Super concise and useful all the way through. You earned a sub from me. I have one question. Where did you go in Blender or their website to produce that render passes PNG? The one that tells you what's added to what and where to multiply? That would be so useful if I'm going to form a habit of combining Blender into my DaVinci Resolve workflow.
Hey, If split my EXR, but i want to composite on live action - so when i split, all of the alpha (transparent background) that was before, turns black. how do i keep the alpha after i merge all the channel booleans? thanks

hi, how to open EXR in blender as Alpha Channel? -because loaded EXR has blank background, no sky (the render is house with cloud behind) -like in Photoshop, when you load EXR, Alpha Channel is an option
but if you use the media in node, you can´t load the file directly , it has to be in the media pool but you have directly access to the sperate Layers of the EXR in the layer tab of the media in node, just a simple click, but extrem cool tutorial,
Hi, I am new to 3d and compositing, I can't find a way for something I thought would be simple to do but surprised to find no solution yet. I need to use 3D models I have found free online but when I import them in Fusion they do not connect material nodes correctly and even when I find material for them they still never look exactly like on source website but when I open the same file (.fbx/.obj/.blend) in blender then they look perfect so I want to export everything baked from blender for Fusion to simply use it in 3D, is it possible? thanks.
Just installed the plugins so it seems to all work ...after windows restart i cant seem to find the reactor plugin.where is it located in the fusion page?Or am i missing something /or should i install the plugin again?thx
Yes , my depth pass is screwing it up. Also would be good to clarify Shadow pass - I read somewhere it needs to be multiplied with the last diffuse boolean
Man I love how excited you are when you talk about this. It's motivating to watch your tutorial. Thank you for the time you took to make this.
Thank you for taking the time to watch this! It was quite a long video but I'm happy you powered through it!
This the best compositing for fusion I have seen
I just love the passion in your tone, it makes this so easy to understand even though this is my first time trying compositing and this is the first video I watched.
Thanks! I was also giggling like a little girl when found out how powerful this is :D

WOW bro this is some goooooooooooooooddddddddd STUFF hope to see more on blender and DR compositing #keepfilming
Absolutely, thank you brother!
@@BrandenArc bro that glow is that only in the free DR16 (exp) glow
@@patricklevar I'm actually using the studio version of resolve but I *think* that particular glow is from the free reactor plugin
real good video showing a detailed tutorial with out makeing it to complicated thx for that
I'm glad it helped!
im waiting this for a long time.. good job
Really well explained - thank you!!
This is awesome, I love your enthusiastic presentation style.
Bruh you are the GOAT!!

Instead of using depth blur, use the depth pass with the Variblur node, it gives a much better result IMO.
Thanx so much, very helpful
Thank you for this. This is very helpful. Keep going!
This helps me a lot.But I have a question that could denoising data be used for fusion?
really got a giggle out of you excitingly mention the node wrangler!
Thank you. I learned a lot from this video.
Awesome! Thank you for this tutorial!
Wow Man! Awesome tutorial!!!
Do you think is fine start in Fusion instead of Nuke??
Greetings man!

Veeeery nice. Thanks man.
Excellent explanation thanks!! You have a new subscriber.
Thanks for the vid! Is there anything different about this process for an animation (exr image sequence)? I'm not really familiar with resolve yet.
I'm back watching this in 2024, wondering where you are, Branden... Come back to TH-cam, we miss you!
Branden, what if i wanted to do that with a whole animation? Is this also in ONE EXR file? Or multiple? (sequenze?) thanks mate.
import it as an image sequence in fusion tab.
hi thanks a lot for the quality of your tutorial and your help. Is it possible to use this method for rendering passes with image sequences (for video compositing with rendering passes)?
this is RAD. thank you so much
and yes please, cover crypto mattes!
yeah would love a cryptomatte tut ,blender family has spoken!!
I was about to get into composition in Blender but I feel like i better learn the fusion and Davinci.. It is so complementary to blender.
is that using the free version of davinci?
Great tutorial...but I can't find the split EXR script...any help or even better link?
EPIC thank you!

Thank you so much
Any insight on how to rebuild a beauty pass with more complex passes like shadow pass, and Denise info etc.
This has been extremely helpful as I'm new to davinci, however, I'm curious when to set something to add or multiply...? You don't seem to specify!!
You add direct & indirect passes and then multiply that result by the colour pass
@@BrandenArc Thank you so much!!!

I've done the same but would like to know if that's correct as well
love it this video! thanjks
Thank uuuuuuu bro 🙏 ♥ nice video
Thank you so much for this!
color space - gamut @19:23, press control+space, type in Gamut, press 2 on the keyboard to view it, change output space to simplified srgb

one year later but just type 'render passes' in the manual and go to the bottom of the page and you will see how you have to combine them.
Isn't it better to use Linear to SRGB LUT instead of upping the gamma?
what if you have a glare in the compositing

Hi! How can you compose it with the denoising? With blender compositor you can use the denoise node , but here I don't know how to denoise my images.
How to composite z depth pass in fusion, In nuke have an option that automatically recreate passes, similarly fusion have any chance. It's a time saver
I've tried everything here but somehow hair particles and denoise don't show up. Any idea on how I can fix that?
