I went for the Niken precisely for this reason. I can not think of a better bike for use in all conditions where one actually wants to enjoy the ride and make progress. As Ryan F9 puts it, the limits are much closer in the real world and attacking a corner is one of the greatest pleasures of riding. I use the bike for pleasure as much as utility and the Niken smashes it.

The most motorised action on three wheels I've had was on a cycle, it was a cargo e-trike. It didn't have any suspension other than the tilting subframe in the front. No shock absorbers, no springs. The ride was smooth as silk, you can drive up curbs while hauling a 100 kilo load on a 25 kilo bike and always be in control. Small bumps are vanishing. But the frame lockout in a tight curve is a sensation that you really can't be ready for on the first run.
Surestick88 it was a lovely takedown of us BMW types with hi viz, ATGATT, extra lights and white or high viz helmets, not forgetting the SpotX or inReach. A well done one. If I was chasing a bicycle race the Niken would be easier than a BMW RT. BTW, F9 videos clinched my decision to buy a BMW F800GSA last year.
I’m 38 seconds in and had to comment. I watched the intro at least 5 times because it’s hilarious. The les miserables music put me over the edge! A+++++++++
I can appreciate Yamaha for making a vehicle that gives us a glimpse into the future where cars can lean all four wheels and corner harder than a motorcycle.
A decently setup car can corner harder than a motorcycle already... it’s just physics. My car has 4x 225 width contact patches and uses all of that. Bikes have what? 185 to 195 usually and only use a small portion of that at any point of lean
It reminds me of Halo cars in the automotive industry. I got to hand it to Yamaha for exercising this amount of technology into a motorcycle. Pretty amazing honestly even if it isn't my thing personally.
So good to see that Tilting Motor Works was covered as a counterpoint in this video. A $15,000 bolt-on that opens riding to many and extends riding for even more.

I don't care for Spyder. However, if I was in the market for a 3 wheeler, I would buy a Spyder over the Niken, because Nikes is a terrible trike. Yet, if I m not in the market for a trike, I would buy a Ninja 300 over the Niken, because Niken is not a complete motorcycle. So....
Ryan, your films are informative and inspiring in many ways. Keep up the great work. Those roads you get to ride are stunning, no matter what bike you ride. Stay safe. Just itching to get out on the UK roads again once lockdown ends.
I attended a track day last year where a coach was borrowing one of these. He mentioned the same numb front end that you did, but overall gave it a very positive review. As you might expect, these can go really fast when piloted by a skilled expert.

@@FortNine where can we buy one?
Fr I want one lol
I’m 38 seconds in and had to comment. I watched the intro at least 5 times because it’s hilarious. The les miserables music put me over the edge! A+++++++++
the cinematography ALONE is reason to watch these videos, and you nail everything i wanna know about the bike too? This channel is amazing.
NO WAY he pulled out the Rick Mercer rant haha Love the video
lol searched "Mercer" to see if anyone caught that
Canuk much, eh?
After playing death stranding this bike makes sense :P
alan bane don’t forget the endless walking/driving and trying not to fall and rumple :P
Finally someone said it
6:56 looks like wall-e is frantically searching for eva😂😂
I can appreciate Yamaha for making a vehicle that gives us a glimpse into the future where cars can lean all four wheels and corner harder than a motorcycle.
I sure hope not !
A decently setup car can corner harder than a motorcycle already... it’s just physics. My car has 4x 225 width contact patches and uses all of that. Bikes have what? 185 to 195 usually and only use a small portion of that at any point of lean
What I should have typed is that Yamaha is giving us a glimpse into the future where cars can corner even harder.
Ferrous Cromagnon I think 4 flat tires will always corner harder than tilting tires of any number
When a bike can corner harder then a car?:)))) rly man?
I wonder? ....interesting thought...great video as ever chaps, loved it...
I never thought I would see a Rick Mercer reference in a motorcycling video, not even from Fortnine. Bravo Ryan, bravo.
FortNine always killing it with their production value!
"looks like it has a gun in its mouth *insert clarkson noises*"
Driving the Tricity 300 I certainly learned to appreciate the frontend stability.
It reminds me of Halo cars in the automotive industry. I got to hand it to Yamaha for exercising this amount of technology into a motorcycle. Pretty amazing honestly even if it isn't my thing personally.
The quality of this mans videos exceeds all Hollywood films it is insane to see some of the stuff he is able to do with editing software and a camera
And a few drones
It's a _hell_ of a lot more complex than "editing software and a camera" believe me. If it was that easy, every YT channel would look like this.
From a cinematic perspective this is a masterpiece!
So good to see that Tilting Motor Works was covered as a counterpoint in this video. A $15,000 bolt-on that opens riding to many and extends riding for even more.
Good lord the quality of these vids are insane...big beautiful mountian footage! Slow motion! Up close zoom in! Tons of angles! You must have an amazing film crew for these!
I died with the "honda sushi" reference
Probably the best review of any product I've ever seen. The editing is world class. Ryan is Top Gear like!
You can only say it's a good review if you know the product yourself. I'm wondering if Ryan needs to spend some more time riding it, and rack up some serious touring kilometres. Then he just might find himself joining the mob of riders who love the Niken.
Thank you guys for putting so much time and energy in to these videos . When I say that mean the whole crew not just Ryan. please keep up the good work in an small way this channel makes my life better
Part Mercer report, part Leno's garage, and part Clarkson era Top Gear. You've come a million miles in the last year. Good show.
This channel is basically all I watch on TH-cam anymore. Impeccable video.
Yea, well, I still would take one of these over a Spyder. 😏
The spyder does things the niken doesn't though. You're comparing apples to meat pies.
Or a Honda pacific coast. I’m sure there are a lot of crappy things worse than this.
So....
Edmund Konkolich is pick a reliant robin over both 🤣
I would agree, only because they refused to make the Spyder fucking evil like a sled.
That opening was GOLD, instant like ;)
Great editing, jesus. Yamaha needs to hire you guys
Ryan, your films are informative and inspiring in many ways. Keep up the great work. Those roads you get to ride are stunning, no matter what bike you ride. Stay safe. Just itching to get out on the UK roads again once lockdown ends.
the storytelling and cinematography on this channel is top level
I attended a track day last year where a coach was borrowing one of these. He mentioned the same numb front end that you did, but overall gave it a very positive review. As you might expect, these can go really fast when piloted by a skilled expert.
113 HP is nothing to sneeze at
I don't even ride and you had my attention the entire time. The visuals, the sounds, everything was so well done.
It's extremely interesting to me that both Harley Davidson and Yamaha see some form of value for their companies in releasing halo-model prototype-for-the-road machines at about the same point in time.
Coincidence?
I think not!
Which one from Harley?
@@osamabinladen824 tri glide
Those roads look like heaven, jealous!
Mate where u from?
@@professionalprocrastinator6025 probably India
Looks like Washington State or British Columbia
@@professionalprocrastinator6025 the UK, I wasn't necessarily commenting on the quality of the asphalt but rather how empty they are, and the backdrop, stunning.
I work in the media industry - the production value is off the charts! Sell the material to TV channels geared towards men. This is going to be watched by people that don't even ride. Hat's off, my man!
Nike: " just do it!"
Niken: "no, please don't do it!"
10:08 - Wtf is this real? Impressive crocheting skillz
Yea it's real. For marketing Yamaha but instructions for it on the webs.
Hell yes. Videos, patterns, wool recommendations - everything you need to crochet your own Niken. Because... marketing? global.yamaha-motor.com/showroom/handicraft/amigurumi/niken/ ~RF9
@@FortNine Thank you for posting a link to that! I can finally combine my crochet hobby with my motorcycle hobby!
Apparently here in NZ, the transport authority offered them the choice of registering this as a car or a bike. Fortunately Yamaha took the view that allowing car drivers with no bike experience to ride this crazy thing was not a recipe for good headlines!
Every time I see a fortnine video I get that warm feeling you get when unwrapping presents during Christmas
Truest thing I've ever read
Fortnine, hats of for making the best motorcycle review ever.
The shot in the water, with the camera between the two front wheels is pure gold!
Never mind the Niken - what about the production values in this video?
Amazing.
Never saw a review like this before!
Awesome edeting and story telling.
It's a bollocks hit job bro, 'story telling' is apt - it is indeed no more based in reality than little red riding hood.
What i like the most is that all his videos are smart and intellectually tastefull. Its all at the same time emotionnaly, intellectually and visualy pleasing. Bon travail mon chum ! Prochaine fois que tu viens faire un video dans les Laurentides, j'ai un chalet a te prêter !
You get me inspired my Canadian friend.
Cheers from sunny Greece.
An epic of a review, just superb, thanks Ryan.
No other comes near for skilled film making.
I like motorcycling, but I can get specs and performance reviews anywhere. I watch these videos because they are some of the best made on the internet. This guy should have a prime time show. Very well done!
Your series just gets better and better. I often wondered what I'd buy if I had a serious bike accident and became disabled. I thought about a Can Am but they don't seem to handle. The Niken seems OK but I don't think they'll make it for much longer as it's just not selling.
look for an mp3
Who else noticed Rick Mercer style rant in a colorful back alley :)
I came to the comments just to make sure someone else noticed
I just commented that! I was hoping someone else noticed. It took me a couple repeats to notice but the camera tilt jogged my memory on it
Glad to see others caught this!
I have never had or ridden a motorcycle and yet ive watched most of your videos. Grate work, love the videos
I watch your videos on my TV because that's where they should be!
I love how you guys play around in cool places in BC. "I know that road!"
Excellent!!! This is so far the best motorcycle review I have ever seen on youtube...
Ryan, you are a consummate professional. Your videos are beautifully presented and sublimely produced. 5 stars for this one. Keep up the good work mate. 😁
I have my Tricity and the two wheels on the front may be the scurge of biking but they are definitely better for rough and less ideal riding conditions. It's also a head turner for non bikers.
I give this 2 years then Fortnine is on global tv as TopGear used to be but for bikes. Great job guys!
The opening scene is freaking hilarious 😂
