I do prefer the manga ending overall: It's about the same as this, except instead of running away, Light begs Ryuk to write everyone's name down. Ryuk seems to agree, until he stops writing and reveals that he wrote Light's name instead. Ryuk was going to give Light a chance to get away, but once Light asked him for help for the first time, that's when he knew that Light was done.

Mello and near got the message thar L is dead when they were 15 and 14 respectively. We first saw them working on the case after the 4 year time skip. Mello died age 20 and by the end of the show near is 19. According to volume 13 of the manga.
I love how Light overlooked "average" people like Matsuda and Gevanni when doing his galaxy level chess moves. It's consistent with his behavior of looking down or disregarding people he perceives as less intelligent than him. I've always felt Light's so caught up in the cat and mouse he overlooks some basic things especially after L dies. In the end I felt Light was right his analysis on the real world impact of Kira and society was willing to accept him to the point he had the most powerful country in the world by the balls and ended wars. He was near the point in power where regardless if Near and the police found out who he was it wouldn't have mattered. With his analytical skills, if he focused on the grand scale geopolitical stuff he would have won pretty easily but the game of cat and mouse with people as smart as him was his drug.
I'm late to this but wtff average Gevanni??, he could follow someone and not be detected by his target, and also replicated the whole note to a point even the calligraphy of the writer seemed identical. In one night. I'm not sure "average" comes close to it

Then Ryuk comes him and says "It was quite interesting Light, but you were supposed to die at this very moment, so I will be writing your name in my Death Note". Then Light laughs demonically and says "Do you think I will let you kill me when I already know from the beginning that you are the one who will be writing my name in your Death Note? I already instructed Mikami to write my name in Death Note with the cause of death as a disease due to which I will die at old age and there will be no effect if my shinigami tries to kill me. This was one of the reason why I needed to find someone like Mikami". Ryuk feels impressed and embarrassed at the same time. Then while going out of the warehouse, light appreciates Mikami by saying that he was the only one who understands Kira properly, but Light killed Mikami, saying that there can only be 1 Kira. This way light wins and no one is left to reveal his secret (since he trusts Misa Amane, ofc she won't betray him due to love) and then season 2 of death note comes out after few years, again showing Light vs some other detective🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

It was really Light's arrogance that did it. All Light had to do was tell Mikami to TEST the notebook before coming to the warehouse. Tell him to stash a few pages in advance in a separate hiding place, and use those if the original notebook isn't working. It wouldn't have been hard to have a plan B. But he thought he was so perfect he didn't need to do that.

That theory you discussed last episode about how Near might have got Misa to write Mikami's name in a Death Note to control his actions is a theory many have about what Near might have done himself to Mikami, who after all commits suicide pretty quickly after all that.

The Netflix movie is fine if you've never seen the anime, but if you have your just gonna be sitting there asking yourself "why are they doing this like this?" I saw it back when it first came out and if my memory serves correctly, the cinematography was pretty decent and the actors do their job well. But as a fan of the anime, I couldn't help but feel the film makers didn't really believe in the source material.
Yeah but do it that way and it just becomes a generic story... unlike the manga/anime which is a masterpiece. Its like drawing a decent drawing and then comparing to the Mona Lisa...
I quite enjoyed it a lot as its own seperate thing. I think it's best enjoyed as more of an inspiration from the original rather than a straight-up adaptation. People have made the mistake to see it as the latter imo. Definitely doesn't compare in quality to the original, but I think that's perfectly fine.

The Psych-Pass antagonist is someone that I think most people would agree with, even if he is brutal. That society is a complete nightmare.

I want the intro, by itself, as a video, cuz I want to watch it, over and over again, cuz it just thaat damn good.
The Netflix movie is fine if you've never seen the anime, but if you have your just gonna be sitting there asking yourself "why are they doing this like this?" I saw it back when it first came out and if my memory serves correctly, the cinematography was pretty decent and the actors do their job well. But as a fan of the anime, I couldn't help but feel the film makers didn't really believe in the source material.
Yeah but do it that way and it just becomes a generic story... unlike the manga/anime which is a masterpiece.
Its like drawing a decent drawing and then comparing to the Mona Lisa...
I quite enjoyed it a lot as its own seperate thing. I think it's best enjoyed as more of an inspiration from the original rather than a straight-up adaptation. People have made the mistake to see it as the latter imo. Definitely doesn't compare in quality to the original, but I think that's perfectly fine.
I only liked two things from it:
1. I thought William Dafoe was great as Ryuk.
2. I liked the way the notebook looked.

Am I the only one who actually likes light and sees a point in his action. People sometimes forget that morality is a perspective.
Killing petty criminals? Doesn’t solve any problems. Corrupt politicians and rich people? Different story
@@Krawnbundungle Well, at least he killed criminals. If somebody else would have got the notebook then I don't think that person would have even killed criminals. The person would have just used the book for his own purpose and amusement. So in a way, light was quite a good deathnote keeper.
