    I've just discovered this guy and absolutely love him. Makes learning more fun than anyone else I've come across. I'm sorry to hear of his passing.

    The Mister Rogers of bass - and I mean that as the absolute highest possible complement. Rest in peace.

    That's so true about playing something 300 times isn't enough. Especially in the beginning. It can take awhile to really start to hear subtle differences in things. You don't play something until you don't make a mistake, you play it until you can't make a mistake. I live by that

    I’m watching this in bed before going to sleep and now I feel really guilty for not getting my bass out like he said to do.

      You should. Watching is fun, but only practice makes a difference. :)

    Thank you, Mr. Stinnett. The arpeggios, connected in jazz, is fun to play, and as always, well explained

    You are an excellent teacher. I started playing in 1971 . Had a 69 P bass, and later a 75 P bass.Then in the 90's I made 4 of my own bass guitars, and 3 years ago I made 2 stick upright basses.Your teaching has opened up a new world to me as a bassist. when you teach upright I use my stick basses. when you teach guitar bass I use my customs.

    Many thanks Jim. Another great lesson for ear training... and patience. I find myself so eager to learn new things, I rush through lessons and move on to the next. Your lessons make me slow down a little and let it all sink in a bit more. I really appreciate that about your teaching style.

    You sir, aside from Jeff Berlin, are the ONLY internet bass teacher that actually teaches. Everyone else shows off their abilities and calls it a lesson. Every time I listen to you I learn something useful about music. Thank you for choosing to teach us.

    I never see people using that finger rest on the lower part of the bass (below the g string, near the neck). It would be neat to see how it's supposed to be used. Thanks for your lessons. You seem like a happy person who loves what he does. God bless.

      Why is there a thumb rest under the e string.

    • @alexandroscharangionis7602
      @alexandroscharangionis7602 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bastardomalo3441 That's the G string. And it's not a thumb rest. It was designed because Leo Fender thought that bass players would play the instrument with their thumbs, like a strumming guitar, so that was supposed to be rest for the ring finger or pinky.

    I hope he reads this or someone else who has played for a long time...….im new to bass......I have just bought a Yamaha trb its got 24 frets I notice that all these great players who use say a fender have only got 20 frets...…..would that be better for me ? would it make life easier to learn ?

    • @realbasslessons9356
      @realbasslessons9356  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sean. No easier to learn. How well you learn is a result of how much you practice. Not what bass you play.

    • @seanculun6067
      @seanculun6067 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks im a fan of yours and will follow you to learn as much as I can so no advantage of a 20 fret ?

    Thanks for these. I recently picked up my bass again after so many years of frustration. I hear about arpeggios - minors - majors and all that crap. Pentatonic and all these fancy words. Man, i just don't get it. I just play. I still cant understand all this jargon and theory nonsense.
