Why is it that so many of these "hot takes" never end up actually being hot takes lol so many of these are the coldest takes ever
Some of the opinions seemed like they were made up by random people who got bored. Those seem to be the hottest ones and aren't elaborated further. I think GD (or at least GD Twitter) might be so sensitive to heat in takes that even ice cold takes immediately gives them the sensation of third degree burns (because they're used to takes as cold as *dry* ice, aka solid carbon dioxide which is -78 Celsius or -109 Fahrenheit)

hot take 1: the GD community SUCKS at recommending levels. most of the popular levels are old with incredibly dated gameplay. im not criticizing those levels for that but i feel like the community needs to widen its view. for example im playing ocellios and its a super fun level with incredible deco and atmosphere yet it only has 120k downloads. hell i only know about it because someone in the GDLadder discord told me about it
i feel like part of this issue is because people have been using the same progression guides for years, itd be nice to have more recent options
hot take 2: fixed hitboxes in high-end extremes arent that bad. like "fixed hitboxes" have become so much of a buzzword in the community which is crazy cause so many levels have them and only avernus gets hated on for it cause its popular to hate on it
hot take 3: people get way too mad at non-demon levels for having memory segments or blind jumps. like just because it isnt a demon doesnt mean you get to harass the creator because it took you more than 5 attempts
hot take 4: the vast majority of the time the only reason people hate on some list demons is because its a popular thing to do so or because theyre being contrarian. there are some things that are reasonable to dislike (silent clubstep's horrendous balancing for instance) but unless the level looks like ass 99% of the people complaining about it are just doing it to hate. like how many people who hate on these levels will ever actually play them?

DeCode has pretty good gameplay for it’s time (the deco is kinda trash in some parts), I think it’s fun but it should be medium demon imo
I actually think zodiac was probably the most fun top 1 so far

Hot take: user coins should've been added in 1.6.
Not only would they added with their brother secret coins, but we would get coins in custom levels before move or alpha trigger.
Honestly what makes Thinking Space good for me is the fact that no one was paying attention to it. It wasn't forced to be top 1, it was never supposed to be beaten at all. It wasn't a low effort impossible level, it had its own unique brand. Atomic just decided to verify it, and because Tech beat Zodiac on the very same day it flew under the radar until it was rated. Nothing wrong with that. It's obviously not the best level but nothing about its story is annoying or problematic, such as with Slaughterhouse or Avernus.

2:00 Totally agreed, Bloodlust especially with the "last part" (where Bloodbath ends) feels just so epic, this level was the greatest top 1 imo

3:41 that’s why I was so surprised to see slash get legendary. It’s good because of its gameplay (not that it has bad deco, just that when compared to other legendary levels it isn’t nearly as good)

2.1 > 2.2 is funny to me. There are only some things that were removed that, yeah, sure shouldn't have been but that doesn't take away from the giant wave of content that the update had brought. If they are talking about the community then give them a few months, the update is still relatively new and people are still experimenting

i think there should be a new rating option.
it's called "fair" and it's a green star next to the difficulty face, no creator points, and it's like a "i don't think this is rate worthy but you put lots of effort into it so i'll acknowledge it."
just an idea i had. makes rating a step better.

Honestly, I think white spaces gameplay is good. I don't really get why people have issues with it, it's entirely sync based and flows really really well, I genuinely enjoy it a lot
As someone who beat coaster mountain I had to be put in a mental rehab, that level SUCKED to play and i beat the current version of jet lag and the old version of shiftleaf temple
Blogde is a really underrated creator, memory reboot should be epic at least, and all (i think) of his levels are solo, which make his levels more impressive

EXACTLY the level is fun. there's like one bad ufo at the end and the one ship part, but otherwise it's balanced really well. probably my favorite out of the chaos gauntlet (by default tbf. what was i gonna say otherwise, dark drop? lmao)

I think the style is very unique and interesting, but it drags on for far longer than it needs to
I think it's a bit too long, but other than that it's pretty fun.
Cold take: robtop shouldnt have given a common player this much power over the camera controls. The shit ive seen in most 2.2 rated levels is NOT it I have to fucking take a 10 minute long break after each one to avoid passing out

3:41 yep,the new level called deepdive which is a medium demon with legendary has SO bad gameplay. Unsightreadable,so many bugs,some coins are just wtf,etc.
Interesting, it was one of the most fun experiences I ever had in GD personally (and I beat over 3000 levels)

The first half of Project J has some of the best medium demon gameplay in geometry dash
Would love the Ton 618 Remake by Pooch to become number 1 just cause how amazing it will look, the song being a banger and it not bein a hell themed level aswell. Just dont know if its difficulty is enough for top 1, especially at the point its finished. If not thats obv. also fine

Tidal Wave is a good level. 👍
Acheron only got featured because Riot had something to do with it.
Cherryteam is a good building team. 👍
We need a new demon difficulty for list demons.
Swing game mode is good we just don't know how to use it yet.
Wave is the best game mode by far.
I think we are starting to reach a difficulty limit more or less, especially now with 240 FPS physics (they aren't bad btw, personally i love them but i think they will have an impact on future Top 1's and how doable they are). I highly doubt that unnerfed Aternus will ever be verified.

Every take is good except the wave one, I'd say wave is 4th behind robot ball and ship, but that's also cause I have a skill issue with wave, W opinions!

Hot take: we need more love for levels that aren’t extreme demons and we need to shift out of this mindset where all good looking levels can’t even be played by most people/every mobile player.
Ratings should should be based on if a level has good gameplay and some deco, featured/legendary should be for good/really good deco
Cold take: platformer is SUPER easy. Like 7 or 8 stars are as hard as 3 or 4 stars.
2:31 The rate system is not really _that_ flawed, the only thing is that Robtop is still the only person who can rate levels and the rate standards have risen to insane heights

What do you mean rate standards have risen to insane heights? Top 2 creator point farmer literally pumps out layouts, with ass gp that literally all look the same and gets featured rates 💀. So a smart and beautiful auto build block system that creates awesome atmosphere in a level, while the level itself also has very good gameplay, by the opinion of the modders is just as good as this basic shit this CP farmer pumps out for the sake of CP.

Hot take: Sonic Wave Infinity has some of the best deco of any top-3 (and top-1 if you count it as one) and every single part of it’s deco is brilliant it’s just inconsistent with some parts not fitting in with the rest

Tidal wave is basically if bloodbath was beach themed, was heavily focused on the wave, not a collab, and made in 2.1
Bro I feel the first point really. I'm neither in the gd discord nor do I have twitter or X. And literally anytime I see a video on TH-cam about some "drama" in gd, I usually ask myself why said thing is a drama in the first place. I love gd, that's why I play it since early 2014 but I never had interest in any major discussion going on to be honest.

Hot take: Slaughterhouse freaking sucks, the gp is painfully generic and the deco is just an inconsistent glowy hell level. That doesn't mean it should be hated though, and the creators still put a lot of effort into it
The deco is inconsistant, I feel like 40% of the level looks amazing, 40% looks mid, and 20% of it is terrible.

Almost every top one ive seen has terrible deco and no personality. The only one that had any personality is tidal wave

Got a few hot takes:
1-GD2.11 might be better than 2.2 as 2.2 is constantly getting updated and is harder to mod
2-hell levels stopped being cool after bloodlust,the apocalyptic trilogy is just decoration overlayed on terrible, superbuffed gameplay
3-icon hacks shouldnt be considered "hacks" as they dont intervene with gameplay,icons are just aesthetics for you to flex with
4-in terms of levels popular ≠ bad just because levels like IspyWithMyLittleEye or Change of Scene are overused memes dont make them bad overall
5-Tidal Wave is only popular because its a break from hell theme otherwise its messy,ugly and just looks like a pain in the ass to play,if it had a hell theme instead of beach-like it wouldnt get any recognition (also dont like the song its weird :3)
6-no racism here,but the spanish community needs to stop defending GuitarHeroStyles and just get rid of him,same here with Vernam and the russian community,theyre blindly agreeing with them on anything they say and hate on anyone who's against that

5. I am not the biggest Tidal Wave fan, but firstly people that have practiced Tidal Wave have said it is more fun that most other newish top 1's, and while deco is subjective, I don''t know how you can call the level "messy". Last 2 points of the take are spot on though.

You dont need a perfectly rational logical reason to have an opinion on a level its entirely subjective
I respect people who like Slaughterhouse but for me it is the worst extreme demon and in contention for the worst level of 2.1.
Decoration is just red, edgy and hell themed, just too unoriginal.
Gameplay is literally a remake of a level made by a 12 year old, with the most dull and boring pre-drop ever.
Alongside it's history of being verified by the biggest hacker in GD and taking away the spot of top 1 from firework in which trick put in hundreds of hours of effort into.
And the song makes me want to play the level with it's non-NoNG song.
I respect people who like the level and don't have a problem with people enjoying it but, i just can't like this level even a single bit.
