Do you know anything about the knights of St Anthony? i found a badge showing the insignia in Lincolnshire and from metal detecting evidence there must of been a commandery or preceptory there. There is a knights effigy of Si Roger De Bois and his wife with the insignia badge on their shouldes in ingham church Norfolk. The order seems to come from a Bavaria and arrived in the UK Frank van Borselle from Burgundy and others can be seen wearing the order in 15th century paintings. There seems to be a elite confraternity of St Anthony knights in UK, somebody would of been the grand master. The main emblem is a Tau cross( St anthony the great) a number of queens and Mary queen of Scots can be seen wearing a Tau cross in paintings. Good video i learnt from it.
@@OurHistoryYourstory Thw best info i have found on orders of St Anthony is by a historian from the met museum in NY .Timothy Husband "The Winteringham Tau cross and ignis sacer" Quite often you see St John And St Anthony together on jewels so there must of been a close relationship between these two Hospitaller orders.
Thanks .. i just wanted to know how to pronounce Torphichen .. as we are staying at Torphichen Street in Edinburgh in a few days. Regards from Whitley Bay
