If I correctly remember my French car history, as Michel said the Amilcar factory started to have some financial issues. The Pegase G36 was somewhat of a "last gasp" in trying to breathe life into the company. However at that point it was already too far gone. But in their relatively short run Amilcar produced some extremely cool cars. And Michel's story of wanting the car for so very long, obtaining it and then reveling in the joy of ownership is something so many of us will fully understand. Fascinating car with an historic provenance and the perfect caretaker makes for the kind of videos we expect from Petrolicious.
Un épisode de Petrolicious en français, c'est précieux, en plus avec une très belle auto et un pilote aussi connaisseur que sympathique ! C'est Noël !!! Grand merci ! :-)
To be fair most german cars were better after the 2nd WW, and most italian sportscar were faster. French cars were still generally cheaper than the german and more reliable than the italian. But that's a pretty forgettable combination. Average isn't impressive.
Super interesting car and his garage is outstanding! I would go there many times just for "meditation" surrounded by such pieces of history in that environment. Love it!
In this era, you've got to strap your dog in your car, just like any other passenger....imagine trying to enter a race NOW w/your dog along for the ride: Race Inspector - "Excuse me, is that a St. Bernard in the pass. seat?" Driver: "Yes, he's my navigator." Inspector: "Is that a #flask on his collar?!" Driver: "Yes, but it's only opened if we win."

So nice to see this magnificent example of French auto history. They always seem to be overshadowed by the popular German and Italian manufacturers.

@@C4H10N4O2 i dont think you are correct about not being impressive and a forgettable combination, and this video is the proof of that
@@scratchacat Yes, but I said generally. We produced some amazing cars, but so much more average ones.
It’s been a while since I’ve tried out my French, but from what I can gather…
It’s a cool car.
Toby Wood click the English subtitles on 👍🏻

des petits airs de Delage D6 Grand Prix, tres belle auto nonetheless
Music too loud, too bad because the production is first rate

Ameracns v8 are still made with push-rods and single over head cams
Not all of them. Ford now uses a dohc design in their 5.0s
The video and its content are great, but please don't have the background music playing while words are being spoken.
