That entire cliff was like one giant fossil filled with all kinds of amazing and wonderful things! I really enjoy the peaceful serenity of your videos. After a long day at work, it’s the perfect way to end my night. Thank you!
New subscriber. ! Enjoy taking me with you ! As a younger girl my brothers and sisters and iplayed on similar boulders made from shell concretions like those you found, Here in Texas up on the LLANO ESTACATO s. Of Sweetwater, tx....rolling plains of grass and creeks. So many fossils in this quarry. Childhood fun and games. Thank you for sharing.
Hahahah yeah he is not scared of carrying heavy weights up and down those cliffs. He is so fit from working out doors 😁 thanks for watching Katy, I need to watch your latest video still, keeping it as a treat for finish editing my next video 😁
The eel was probably a female one returning from the river going to the sea to breed. Serious sledge hammer Thiago carried around.Keep the vids coming.
Thank you for the awesome sights and sounds! Are you able to bring a wagon to get the heavier rocks home? I've got serious discovery envy while watching!
Oh yeah! It is going, to be spring there where you are at!! Now its our turn to get fall weather! We certainly could use it! It has been 104.0 farenheit all week long where I live and I cant wait for fall! It doesn't get really cold here untill January and feb. I am like, "BRING IT ON!" Mother nature! Thats the price you pay for living in southern New Mexico! Anyways, its so beautiful out there, and fascinating. I really want you to find a perfect tiny crab. Thank you for sharing your life and hobby with us!
That sounds terribly hot over there! Personally, I prefer the cold over the heat. Once you get moving you warm up quite quickly, once you get too hot there's not much you can do other than go for a swim :)
There's so many shells & fossils & concretions around...you're never too overly excited(!) But man, as a landlubber here in the Heartland USA, I'd love to get me a pair of them Tusk shells so I can complete my metamorphosis into 'Walrus Man' for this summers swimming season!
Sweet man thanks for the show I live in the Pacific north west usa there are a lot of fossles on the oregon coast a lot of time they show up after a storm you take care Lemay
Well thanks to the random yt rabbit hole I found you definitely subscribed. You got me wanting to crack every rock open now lol. Much love from the usa🍻
If you like mollusc / bivalves, we found a valley FULL of them this past weekend. Every concretion had some kind of amazing shell in it. Will make it into a video soon 😊
I know that beach. It’s very well hidden so not many people know about it except for locals. I used to swim there as a kid and find fossils. They are everywhere. Always had the whole place to ourselves. Not too bad for surfing as well
@@MamlamboFossils Might well! Hunting season, so lots of people with guns (and sometimes booze) out, but after think I'll go out there assuming the snow's out.
Hiya Bob, the fossil shells usually have a different look to them and aren't occurring in the area anymore. It's way easier when you find them still in the cliff to tell they are fossils :)
You can use a synchroton or an MRI. The x-rays aren't great on the fossils we have hear because of how dense the rock is. Perhaps they work better on other specimens. Craig had his penguin scanned using a synchroton and the results are craaaaazy!
I've wondered about this, whether a fossil would form as easily as this or whether there are other factors involved like the minerals in the soil etc 😄
Thank you so much. I had a great time... Appreciate your kindness....
Had a great time Thiago! Thanks for taking me to all the new spots 🤩
Always find your videos very calming. Thanks. Love the fossils.
Thanks for taking the time and effort to share this.
My pleasure!

Glad you're enjoying the videos 😊 It's usually very calm out there, I'm the only person out there 90% of the time.
I am so addicted to these videos!!! So cool!!
Hahhaaha that's awesome! Thanks for watching 😀
Great trip that you took us on .... thanks. What you need is a Rokon to explore the shore line.
Glad you enjoyed it Ronald! I had to Google the Rokon, looks exactly like I need 😁🚲
Amazing beach and fossils!!
Thanks Rick! The whole of North Canterbury has amazing beaches and they are so remote!

Ah that makes sense! Same as what they do over at Lake Ellesmere. It was a really big eel. Thanks for watching and commenting John!
Another amazing time you guys had! Super fun to watch, how long have you been collecting and studying fossils?
It was a great day! Love going to new spots. I've always been interested in fossils but only been collecting my own for the past few years 😁
@@MamlamboFossils that's awesome! You do a great job of filming it too, always excited to see more! 👍😁

Amazing! Never seen anything like those in the US. Are there any online places to buy unbroken ones?
Hi Aaron, I've seen them on ebay from time to time. Not sure where else 😁
@@MamlamboFossils Imagine the freight cost to the US from NZ for a 20KG rock ?
@@Mercmad it would be a few hundred dollars for sure!

Hahahaha 😄 The Tusk shells are so abundant here, I forget that they are actually pretty cool fossil animals 😄
good work and respect, I miss the shores and people of the long white cloud!
Thanks Moon Ravenstone! 😁

Thanks. Great Vid.

Oh my, I would be in mollusc/bivalve heaven! Really nice hunt, and Thiago was a great find as well. That hike alone looked like great fun.

@@MamlamboFossils Oh I can't wait!
Boy that sand is still up high, I wonder if this afternoons storm will move any...
Sand is super high! I'm hoping that storm did something. We need some winter swell I think.
Nice video.
Thanks Todd!
2:06 nature’s jawbreaker...

love your videos
Thanks John!
awesome video as always! which beach is this?
Thanks! It's south of Motunua - I don't think it has a name actually. But you can see Motunua island from it, so not very far away.
Sheep in New Zealand?! Never thought I'd see the day! Getting the fossil itch...
Hahahahaha I'd say there is just as much dairy as sheep farming these days. You should get out there and make another fossil video 😁
@@MamlamboFossils Might well! Hunting season, so lots of people with guns (and sometimes booze) out, but after think I'll go out there assuming the snow's out.
Gosto muito de seu trabalho. Beautiful video!
Thank you so much! 😀
Those are the screeching eels.... they always grow louder when the are about to feed...lol
Hahahaha I'm going to have to check that out!
This is in north Canterbury. I've never in my 34 years of being in chch have I seen these beaches
You're correct Charmaine. I meant Canterbury 😁
The tusk like shells are called Dentilians
Thanks Timothy, I appreciate the info!
At 12:34 what is that 3 layer pointed rock at about 5 oclock on the screen? Just curious Thanks
More preparation videos please
There is one on the way soon 😁
Are those shells old and fossilized or just empty shells g from recent times and how can you tell the f difference?
Hiya Bob, the fossil shells usually have a different look to them and aren't occurring in the area anymore. It's way easier when you find them still in the cliff to tell they are fossils :)
Are the tusk shells belamine?
Can you X-ray rocks like this to see what’s inside ?

should get a harness to put the camera on, might be easier to work with 2 hands :P
I noticed the scientific name of the eel-is that the same person dumb cane is named after (not trying to type that name on an iPhone...)
That is random! I will have to do some googling to see what is up with that :)
Can Concretions be found in the US beaches?
They can be. I know there are some in Washington State that contains vulgaris crabs.
@@MamlamboFossils Ok thank you!
Is that eel going to be OK?
It might turn into a fossil 😁
You need a wagon or a rickshaw.
Are you originally from South Africa ? Not that it’s my business just curiosity . Sometimes I hear a little something in your pronunciation .
Hahhaa yes I am! Can't hide that accent 😂
fosseel
hey maybe u can come back in 5 million years an prep that eel just cover it with sand an mud an hope a sedimentary rock will form
I've wondered about this, whether a fossil would form as easily as this or whether there are other factors involved like the minerals in the soil etc 😄
@@MamlamboFossils im sure there is many of factors that go into play i would assume compression plays a vital role an maybe lack of oxygen .
491.3 grams!
It came to 153 grams :)
The suspense is killing me watching your videos can you please try to open your rocks while you're on the beach Lol
