Tanya Talaga is an Anishinaabe Canadian journalist and author. An investigative reporter for the Toronto Star, she is most noted for her 2017 book Seven Fallen Feathers: Racism, Death and Hard Truths in a Northern City, which won the 2018 RBC Taylor Prize for non-fiction and Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for political writing.

If anyone did ever tell how these kids die or how things get the way they are or how they end up in situations ,Unless its the stories you want to hear, it will just be ignored or attacked .Thats why a lot of people dont care as much as you might want them to care ,You only hear what you want to hear and you dont want to even listen to others opinions on things and thats because there might be truth in those opinions , and that scares the hell out of you. Sometimes realizing yourselves and starting the changes there first can do wonders. But blaming others for everything and thinking that you have no faults in you isnt going to change a thing. No one is perfect.We all have faults .

I was curious about this Author because of some groveling accolades she got from Toronto Star race profiteer, Shree Paradkar.
I watched the WHOLE THING, just like I do with the occasional shitty horror movie, to see if there is the slightest scintilla of insight or intelligence, somewhere, anywhere. in the presentation.
As I expected from anyone trumpeted by the Star as worth listening to, it was probably just more fake news.
My instincts, once again, turned out to be correct.
The title, "Colonialism Is Life and Death," is misleading. There is almost no discussion of any nexus between European migration to this part of the world, and the problems some indigenous youth experience. For any white person looking for reasons to feel guilty about themselves, you won't find any here.
