Madonna, Prince and Michael Jackson epitomized the 80s 100% !!! Biggest selling artists all at the top of their game ! Fun fact... All 3 were were born in 1958
The story behind this song is very interesting. Voguing was a thing well before Madonna sung about it. Loved that she brought the art to mainstream and that its being appreciated.
Except from Wikipedia: Vogue, or voguing, is a highly stylized, modern house dance originating in the late 1980s that evolved out of the Harlem ballroom scene of the 1960s.[1] It gained mainstream exposure when it was featured in Madonna's song and video "Vogue" (1990), and when showcased in the 1990 documentary Paris Is Burning (which went on to win the Grand Jury Prize at the 1991 Sundance Film Festival).[2] In its modern form, this dance has become a global phenomenon that continues to evolve both stylistically and demographically.[3]
Madonna ruled in the 80s She could be controversial ...daring and out there.she had her own fashion She was a rebel in her own way. She owned the stage ..She was outspoken set her own pace ..and dance to the music..yes..thank you Jayy..love this.. Respect yourself being another big hit..love her or not Madonna was big in the. 80s
Madonna has 4 decades of great music and videos, and she is very versatile, in every album she sounds like a different artist, and she's done pop, dance, R&B, house, folk, reggae, new jack, electrónica, etc. My favorite Madonna is 90's Madonna. But I recommend you react to "Express Yourself" live from The Blond Ambition Tour. Iconic performance 🔥 I really hope you'll start a Madonna journey, we'll be with you!
you go, girl! Madonna had a dozen hits in the 80s & 90s, "Vogue," of course, "Borderline" (my favorite), "Like a Virgin" "Lucky Star" "Like a Prayer" "Spanish Lullaby" "Cherish" "Into the Groove" "Ray of Light" (more)
Absolute club favorite! Filled the dance floor every time. She's legendary and pioneered original performances that many tried to copy years later. 😊👍 Great reaction Jayy 💕
Madonna took the moves AND the dancers from the NY Black and Trans Ballroom scene- kind of like RuPaul’s show. To learn about that scene check out the spectacular series that was on FX called “ POSE”!
Everybody was real in this video. I say every bit was choreographed with the dancers she found in the club doing vogue a modern dance were in the video. The two female dancers were her backup singers. And some of the dancers were her backup dancers. She started a movement of dance in the clubs. Michael Jackson and a few in history (the twist I think chubby checker and Elvis) . What a trend setter.
Vogue in 1990 was like Madonna's 2nd big coming after Like A Virgin 1984. Unlike her other big peers Michael Jackson & Prince, Madonna got bigger & bigger over time something the others did not accomplish. Of course that is very subjective because Michael, Prince & Whitney and of course Madonna are The Legends! Madonna's 3rd coming was with Frozen/Ray of Light in 1998 and her 4th big coming in late 2005 with Hung Up - so far her biggest ever hit. Will she have her 5th big coming? I wonder.
Remember when this song dropped, nobody knew what voguing was.BUT,everybody tried to vogue.LOL.I was in the navy when this song came out, stationed at Phila Naval shipyards-assigned to USS KITTYHAWK-which was in the shipyards for a re-fit.At the enlisted club we'd dance our buns off to good music, not a lot of standing around trying to be cool.Back then you stood out from the crowd if you were a good dancer.
Any chance of these Billy Idol - hot in the city Eurythmics- love is a stranger Midnight oil - beds are burning John Farnham - the voice Soft cell - say hello wave goodbye live at the o2 2108 Oh and Frankie goes to Hollywood - power of love (without the video)
I expected THAT very facial expression around 1:34 🤣 Madonna was part of my teenage years,i guess mom sort of tried to shield me from certain videos. But she experienced that i was so massive into her music,so for a birthday she had bought me Madonnas Greatest Hits on VHS (all of her music videos, this one included) That spoke volume,as mom was of the oldschool, dont flaunt it even if you got it school. She did not like it when male or female artists started doing stuff like picking up womens underwear on stage, and then sniffing it. (Thats where she distanced herself from Tom Jones lol,she really liked him until then) Dont get me wrong, she was the most genuine, heart warming person ....but she wanted artists to deliever music and a good live performance. She didnt like that they used theyr sexuality to sell records, she was oldschool oldschool. So for her to still support Madonna on my behalf (she did not like Madonna too much),that speaks soo much volume its crazy. This was during her era with Donna De Lory & Niki Haris as her loyal backup vocalists and front female dancers, she also specifically auditioned only gay men back then as her backup dancers, and if there was a gay black guy = even better for Madonna. She embraced the minorities, and gave them a well paied job with her on tour,in music videos etc. Every dancer i have heard speak about her, describes her as that best friend, always helpful, funny and supportive if they needed her. It does paint a different picture of Madonna, from all the slander and gossip you normally hear. She fought for every "minority",for being treated equally etc way ahead of time. Thats why her videos was so provocative for thoose stereotypical "white christians",as she portraied Jesus as a black man f ex. Our everyday life today might have been abit different if not for Madonna taking thoose fights back then, not to forget how much of a easier path she layed for her fellow female artists that has come after her. Miley Cyrus is a perfect example, she tries to copy Madonna in alot of ways (wich people give her shit for),but imagine if Madonna didnt create that path for her and others....😬 People can go at her for being weird on her more matured days, but come on now. Living in the spotlight for that long,do change people. Just look at people like MJ,Prince etc. They all had something extra about them, good and bad. Not that fame should be an excuse for being an asshole.
Good lord I was in junior high i think the 8th grade when this came out. Lol! I hear this and I smell electric youth by Debbie Gibson and me sneezing uncontrollably. Some things belong in the past.
Loved your video reaction! 💜 You should check out more madonna..Watch her LIVE performance of this song or Human Nature video, Like A Prayer..her best stuff is 80s & 90s
Voguing evolved out of the drag Harlem ballroom scene of the 1960s. Willi Ninja is known as the “Grandfather of Vogue,” Although i personally like this song. A lot of people gave Madonna shit for it bc she only named white celebrities in the song.
Have you checked out Erotica or Justify My Love yet? I lean toward no if you think THIS is spicy...you should check them out! I can’t wait to see your reaction to those!
She gave them tons of credit at the time and shined a light on the scene. I had a gay bar at the time. Folks were able to get more cred for auditions and teaching Vougueing. Now did a lot of America listen or care? Did a lot of the country edit out the credit to the gay/trans community? You bet. But she did give lots of credit.
I have. I also was around at the time. I followed the articles and interviews . I knew people involved both with her videos and tour as well as people in the scene.
Madonna, Prince and Michael Jackson epitomized the 80s 100% !!! Biggest selling artists all at the top of their game ! Fun fact... All 3 were were born in 1958
True! The holy trilogy. There will never be another time like that. Ever.
Major facts
And all from the Great Lakes/upper Midwest
Exactly.. untouchable legends. Icons.
You could honestly throw George Michael in there as well.. after Wham of course.

Madonna was big in the. 80s
And the 90s, and even the 2000s (Hung Up was huge, and so was the Superbowl)
the 'rap' portion is my favorite part because i love when she starts mentioning all these classic male/female actors from back in the day.
Madonna has 4 decades of great music and videos, and she is very versatile, in every album she sounds like a different artist, and she's done pop, dance, R&B, house, folk, reggae, new jack, electrónica, etc. My favorite Madonna is 90's Madonna. My favorite part is when she's naming all the classic movie stars! I know probably who all of them are!!

LOVED this reaction. Glad it made you smile and want to get up and dance. VOGUE
Don't just stand there! / Let's get to it! / Strike a pose! / There's nothin' to it! ♡
She is the most diverse artist in pop music history. Soooo many iconic videos and songs and worth diving into if you don't know much from her
Madonna is exceptionally professional both singing & dancing. Believe me, when she was younger she really was sentional as she is today. xx
This is when Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince, Whitney Houston and George Michael were all at their peak. Such a wonderful time for pop singers
Yeah, that's so true. Vogueing was (and is) so much fun.
Love or hate her Madonna ruled the 80's and 90's.
Often imitated but never duplicated 💚
I can't believe its been so long.... I was 19 when this came out and was in the clubs having a good time and I will be 52 this year... ugh.
Iconic, biggest female star ever. A game changing artist.
The '90s didn't start on January 1. They started when this song dropped.
Madonna ruled the 80s. THE QUEEN OF POP

Madonna is amazing! She has so man things that break out of what you think she’ll do. La Isla Bonita, Live to Tell, Like a Prayer, so, so many.

The dancer with the hat she was dancing with, is the father of her daughter Lourdes :)
Love that song ♥️
Keep up with Madonna
Her catalog is so vast and iconic
Guurrrrl! You are about to discover magic!!! You will get lost in everything Madonna after this. Trust me. 😄😉
Madonna was stunning in this video ❤
If you haven’t already, check her performance of this at the MTV VMAs!
It’s when you paused and said “she’s doing like that🤨😏 ok” ummm 😂😂
if the world could sum up Madonna with one sentence it's yours: "Madonna is no joke, honey."
Any chance of these
Billy Idol - hot in the city

Madonna was kinda cute, a pretty good singer and a fair dancer, but no one made better videos,
Wasn't Madonna great?
If you get a chance- Watch the FX TV show POSE---where she stole this from the people of the balls. 😡 Never gave them credit
