@@hswing11 , It appears that unless you have the cash for a Robust, Powermatic, or a One way, you're going to have to settle a bit. I may end up going with the 18/36 Laguna if I can't get the 3530 Powermatic, but the jury is still out on Lsguna as well.
2010 EVS 1642 I have. Years later the CEO's decide to take metal out of the Headstock and shorten the bed by 2 in. , and charge more. I'm glad I bought the better one.
JET's reputation and their 5 Year Warranty are all they have going for the 1640 evs and the 1840 evs. I believe they will lose market position against the likes of Laguna and Nova. I was ready to write a check for the 1840EVS when they decided to stop making it with a pivoting headstock. It's very difficult to find a pivoting headstock these days.

Very nice features, but removing the outboard turning capability reduces the benefit for me.
