Love the 550. Gonna go 24" 3/8 chain on mine pretty soon. Thanks for sharing
Best man on the internet handling the 550.
550 xl mark ii is my favorite saw, I have other saws, bigger saws also, so I wouldn’t change my bar past 20” personally, but it’s cool to see!!
You convinced me!
Ill put a long bar on my 550
I can see below I saw this video almost a year ago and I didn't remember how impressive it was ! Actually I don't understand why Husqvarna want the 550 to run a 20'' bar max while the 550 has almost the same power as the 562 which is supposed to run much longer bars.
because it doesnt have the same power and torque
@@Motoko1134 The 562 is just 17% more powerful than the 550 but it is supposed to handle a 40% longer bar ? It is not rational.
@@vzmax how are you calculating the power? just taking the ratios of the power supplied on the website? thats not the entire story its just a specification.
Its like CCs on the saw are a poor indicator of how powerful the saw really is, it doesnt really mean much.
@@Motoko1134
So the power values (which can be mesured by anybody with the proper tool) indicated on a website of a very serious brand like Husqvarna "doesn't really mean much"... Well...
it’s the design of the chassis. Smaller saws do not have the ability to run longer bars. It ruins the mounts. This saw is junk. I will never own anything in .325 unless it’s a climbing saw with a LP chain or whatever. These saws are for yuppie homeowners like the Rancher series.
550XP MKII is such a wicked 50cc saw. I can't talk highly enough of mine.
you do realize that this saw is only designed for a 20” bar max with .325 pitch chain? Swapping to 3/8 pitch will only slow the saw down and especially running a longer bar now. If anything you should put on a 16” bar if you’re going to do 3/8. Or just get it ported to make up the loss of power
In normal use where your chain isn't perfect, the woods dirty, got hardwood etc you're not going to be real happy with that long bar and 50cc.
Now is your 550 stock
So what's been done to that saw. Because its obviously not stock😂
base cut.. mild port work and muffler opened
@TJussilainen, can you go into more detail on the "mild port work" ?
I would say 20" bar for 550Xp mark 2 would be on the limit, and 24" bar is way too much. 😉
I am just a homeowner and in fact I have went from gas power to battery power.
I still keep my old husky 162 witch is in a very good shape, it has a 20" bar. Do you think it with handles a 24" bar? If so, and for the 24" bar what other parts I need to change? It still all original as when my father buy it + - 43 years ago.
should handle 24" just fine. just bar with Large Bar Mount (D009) and 3/8" chain + new drive sprocket
Interesting video, thanks ! The 550 is the most versatile chainsaw out there. Just wondering why you modified a Husky bar instead of taking a small mount Oregon 28'' bar.
bar is for my big mount saw, just for fun made it fit to 550
@@TJussilainen OK ! 😉 Nice demonstration, the "small" 550 can easily drive a long bar !
What bar mount would work on the 550xp with 3/8 pitch in a 24" without having to modify it? D176 mount?
@@loggerjake8506 Cannon: H5, H6
Oregon: K095

@@loggerjake8506 The bar mount has nothing to do with the pitch.
Man i hate you. Just last month I upgraded 550XP mark1 with felling dogs from 562XP on both sides and swear a god to my girlfriend that it is only one on earth, because nobody else would do such an upgrade on 50cc saw. You did! Another idea I had was to put on same bar as you did just for fun. Unfortunately didn't do it because I don't know how to on small mount-Great Job!
Oregon 28" small mount 280RNDD025(only one I have found). Make sure to get a 93 drive link 3/8 chain(91 wont fit). Then you'll need a small spline 7 tooth 3/8 rim sproket. It's husqvarna oem 503 52 30-02 or oregon 18720. Should be it.
@@JakePlisskin12 Thanks man!

Freakin’ Awesome!!! 👍👍👍✌🏻
Greetings from Ukraine!) Tell me please, but on 550 XP 2 with a tire of 20\50 in\cm, isn't the 325 step too frequent? Will it stick when felling trees 20\50 inc\cm. Wouldn't it be better to put a 3/8 pitch tire, crown chain? I own a 550 XP 2 15/38 and a 325 chain. I want to bet myself 20/50. I don't know what chain to use. I occasionally cut trees with a diameter of 50 - 100 cm. And saw firewood in a pack of 50 cm + -. I don’t want a chain pitch under 404, because I think that the saw will be heavily overloaded
narrow kerf sthil rs pro 325 chain is very good or sp33g husqvarna/ oregon speed cut. 7 pin rim for stock saw with 20" bar.
@@TJussilainen juu kuulostaa hyvältä paljonkohan mahtaa ottaa kiekkaa?
@@TJussilainen no juu tarvisi ostaa uusi polttoaine korkki niin alkaisi toimimaan
Wondering how it would handle Red Oak or Hickory?
Or just use a sugihara light bar small mount ... as it's the same as the husky bar ..... 🤔 as huskqvana used the same design for their light bars ....
I don't think anyone makes a light weight small mount 28 inch bar. If they do let us know where I can buy one.
what brand of sharpening guides are those @4.00?
Husqvarna roller file guide for c83/c85 chain
What sproket you using a sproket off 372 won't work. Can't find a 3/8 that fits 550 mark 2
it small spline 3/8"
oem 504 52 30-02
Oregon 18720
Is this chainsaw ported?
yes.
Where did you get the 7 pin sprocket
its just small spline 3/8" sprocket. any saw parts selling shop should have them.
oem 504 52 30-02
Oregon 18720
hello this is drive link 1,3 or 1,5 ? Thanks
its 1.5mm drive link c85.
Is this saw ported
its mildly ported , squish is set and muffler modded
@@TJussilainen runs good I have a ported 550 mk2 from the walkers thing is a animal
What y’all think I could do with my 545 MK II
nope lol
@@Boost_Addict ?? Nope!! Interesting
Not impressed by small saw long bar get a 572 or 372 for that
Only complaint about the 550 ll is it is way to heavy. I want lighter autotune saw from HQ
I come from a 455 rancher which weighs 2 pounds more than my new 550xp mark ii so I'm thrilled. I'm a strong guy so the 550 is Featherlight to me
@@joshualake4882 Nice. Even how strong you are it is always easier with a lighter saw. I do cut timber with a lot of limbs, and workdays of 6-7 hours…. It get tiring.
I don't think you will find a lighter saw with the speed and power of the 550.I remember the Husky 242 years ago was light and fast, but lacked the power of the 550
@@pallmall5495 I do understand that lower weight comes with lower power. I would still like a lighter saw.
Use the 550 xp more and you'll get stronger.
too long ofa bar for this.
