    Thank you, thank you for this post!
    October 20, 2022 was Béla Lugosi’s 140th birthday. He, I believe, was the most beautiful man ever to grace the Silver Screen. He was tall, handsome, graceful in all his movements & gestures, & possessed a compelling intensity that has been unequalled. I never tire of watching him, & his hypnotic character interpretations.
    Béla, wherever you are, we love you!❤🍷💋🌹

    It’s not every day an actor becomes immortal but he did

    It's good to see Lugosi getting a lot of the credit that he deserved. Watch his old films--even the great ones and the not so great. A truly marvelous actor.

    I'm so happy to see this wonderful documentary on Bela Lugosi.
    Well written, flowing without repeating, appropriate visuals at the right moments, and pleasant real human voices.
    This kicks present-day AI generations all thoroughly in the arse. Thank you so much for this real thing on our beloved Bela Lugosi.

    Had he been alive in the late 50s and throughout the 60s, his career would've been revived as horror films were making a comeback with the Hammer films, as well as Roger Coremans films. He would've done so well in those films. Him appearing in films with Vincent Price would've been magic. But I also thought he would've done great with playing fatherly roles. As Ive seen interviews with him, he always acted very fatherly, especially as he got older.

      As much as I am a huge fan, I don’t think so. Many actors with his stage training were seen as too dated in their technique on set as by then, there was less need for stage trained actors since the talkies had been around long enough to produce a different breed of actor.

    If Chaney was the man of 1000 faces, Then Lugosi Was The Man Who Played 1000 Characters R.I.P. Dark Prince !

      ….but he wasn’t. 😂
      He was an amazing Dracula on stage for years and eventually the first on screen and so good at it. He was born Blasko (sic) in Lugoj when it was still Hungary. It’s in Romania now.
      Lugoj is about 360 km from Transylvania.
      Besides: Wallachia is south of that.

    No matter what actor has played the role, when I hear the word “Dracula”, it is Bela Lugosi of whom I think. Certainly one of the greatest of Universal’s monsters, his portrayal of Dracula still creeps me out at age 70.

    He was only one of many who was addicted in Hollywood; however, he was one of the rare stars who was forthcoming regarding his methadone/ morphine addiction.

    Lugoj îs a city in Romania 🇷🇴 all day long, not Hungary. That part of Romania was a part of the Austro-Hungarian empire though at the time. Era drăguț când era tânăr. Fiul lui seamănă tare mult pe el.

    Bela Lugosi is the one and only Dracula

  • @Saor_Alba

    If ever there was an actor who epitomised the moniker of typecast, it was Lugosi. After his final A-grade film, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, in 1948, his decline quickly accelerated. His medical addiction to amphetamines and morphine and his chronic alcoholism took a toll on his health. I believe Ed Wood knowingly took advantage of the ailing addicted and desperate Logosi and used his name simply to get publicity for the awful low-budget monstrosities he produced.

    Overrated! A good actor but nothing compared to Klaus Kinski or Gary Oldmans Dracula... not even close. Even Frank Langella delivers a much better performance.

    • @gregscavuzzo5457
      @gregscavuzzo5457 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Think of the date of his performance, the early 1930s , very early for talking movies, if he had been doing it in the 1970s his Dracula would have been very different , a much better actor than Kinski or Langella

    • @paulocraice
      @paulocraice 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ nope! Lugosi would never be 1% of Oldman, Kinski or Langella. He was a so-so actor.
