Nice. Just had a binge viewing of your bench vice, steel vice, and rotary tool drill press series of videos because with the older series even though there were a lot of videos you explained what you were thinking well so it ended up helping me figure out how I wanted to hinge an entertainment center dvd and game rack I want to build. Want it to not only pull out from beside the tv but swing both ways for 2 sides of storage.
As always, I really enjoy straightforward videos with minimal editing. Looking forward to seeing the results. Also, I like the random appearances of the smiley face.

Colin Keevil I have enough video footage to make a video or two (part 1 and part2, say) on the butcher block table, so I try to find the time to put that together.
I'm a beginner with a table saw. Is it dangerous to slices off like you were at 5:30? I was under the impression you wanted to keep the large piece between the saw and fence and adjust the fence for each cut (pain in the neck though). Just curious.
I know this is an old video, but I wanted to check if you are getting any warping or anything with the slats? i imaigne I shouldn't just do this with the 2x4 from the box store.
the diffusion would effectively reduce the light in the window by 1 or more stops dependent on the material used. This would make it less of an issue for him. And give more fill to the overall space.
brian faini I have diffusion in place (in the form of a florescent fixture lens) in one window already - it doesn't fix the backlighting. If you know anything about video or taking pictures, you'll know that the best situation is the one where you have total control over the lighting, and not have to work around a bad scenario.
My knowledge on the subject greatly exceeds yours as I'm a professional in both regards. Yes, in a perfect world you would have total control of the space and have a soundstage/shop. Costs will rise and production quality will suffer when you're relying on simple overhead fluorescent fixtures. The cost rising as you find a need for supplement lighting. Use what you've got. You should embrace any natural light you've got entering your shop. A florescent lens isn't proper diffusion as they are made to maximize the light. But im just some guy on the internet, what do I matter?

Tommie Strydom Temp is set to 5 degrees celsuis. Adding insulation makes it easier to maintain that temp (heater comes on less frequently).
