I loved the first one, and Riptide feels exactly the same. I still have all the glitches and performance issues as the first, but the game is all about zombie killin' and it does that well.
If you're saying the combat is repetitive, you probably haven't tried playing it on analog with a controller. Swinging weapons the way you want at zombies is very fun. Pressing a button to hit stuff is not.
The first fair review i have seen of Dead Island, at least this reviewer can accept the positives and negatives that come with this game, and it's very informative to players who haven't played it before. Deep Silver can take my money
riptide does not get the credit it deserves its a great horror game with some really intense moments, the screamers were my favourite, you hear that scream and FUCK leg it! brilliant!
ive been playing this game recently its ok. i think the first one might have been a bit better, the hit detection was better and this one has a lot of zombies that will one hit kill you from 100 feet away by throwing a wooded plank at you, that gets really annoying. but it does have a rocket launcher and sniper rifle this time around. those skeptical wait til it gets a bit cheaper. also its definitely a co-op game. i find it boring playing alone
This game has what so many other games lack - constant fun. You can tell in the comments the people who have and haven't played it. Those who have are staunch defenders, those who haven't talk shit about it being repetitive as if Borderlands, COD and Battlefield arent exactly the same way. The graphics are pretty good for the aging consoles, and it isn't intended to push the bar on PC, but at least it got a solid port. I love the Dead Island games.
May not be the best game but is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's one of the few games I don't mind searching for stuff since the respawn rate is well done where you don't spend a lot of time out of the action. I do recommend playing the first one first though. Since the import character helps make it feel that you person is advancing in knowledge and not just forgetting everything they learned as soon as the credits roll in the last one.
i also loved the first one, put over 300hrs into it. riptide i actually hated it when i first started playing it but it gets way better later on in the game, starts off kinda hard, and yes the bugs and glitches and co-op crashes are still there
wow that cheap already. its well worth 15 bucks, the first one i had about 400 hrs into it by the time riptide came out. i played this one maybe 3 times through and have not have had the urge to play it anymore.
When you run into modders it kinda ruins it for ya in some ways. Bein given a mod weapon at the beginning yup i had too much fun but when you think about it isn't that point of playing a video game
I loved the first game and i will love this even more once I buy it. Why?, because I can easily look past the technical problems and just enjoy what the game offers, might even download extra dlc. If i can find a pre-owned version for £25, it settled then.
it also has a sniper rifle and rocket launcher dont forget. every dang game i buy is a broken buggy mess so its almost to the point you have to except it. some of the last few games i bought that were just as broken but very fun, assassins creed 3, farcry 3, resident evil 6, even dead space 3 had a few issues with it
Actually... it does look average. And 8.5 out of 10 is giving it waaaaay to much credit, plus where did you even get the info from anyway? The gaming sites and magazines gave it a 7.1 and GT even gave it a 7.5. Highly accurate.
This review is WAY too forgiving. It may be what Dead Island SHOULD have been, but since it wasn't and it's been rehashed, that deducts points rather than makes up.
Liars*. And people are giving it way too much credit. This game definitely sucked. No wonder they dropped their price twice...lol. I myself give it about a 6. It's not that great and should have been DLC like the original plan was.
cinematics = crap dialogue = crap graphics = meh = immersion ..... crap combat = repetetive innovation = next to nothing everything looks the same ....no i will not buy this dlc disguising itself as a sequel give me a good zombie game the only good thing going for it is co-op
What I don't get anymore is what game journalists base their reviews on. Both IGN and Gamespot gave this game crappy reviews, but GT is all over this game showering it with praise. It's making watching reviews pointless anymore. Usually GT are the hard ones to please. To each their own.
They base it upon each and every individual reviewer's opinion of the respective game being reviewed. There's no one size fits all set of standards for giving out scores across any site. Reviews on the same site don't follow any pattern either. My advice? Find some reviewers with playing tastes and/or ethics that line up with your personally and then start following them.
R O Game Trailers is probably the least stingy with their reviews. But they also tend to be a bit more honest. IGN and GameSpot are both too nitpicky, whereas GT's biggest concern is if a game is fun or not.

We'll consider it an Expansion Pack instead, right?
Consider it s*** lol

Isn't the point of a video game to have fun?
Mark Whalberg 0:51
Got stuck on the motorboat and couldn't progress stopped playing...
Jesus Christ. What would you do if you played Alundra or old Tomb Raider games without a guide?
WTF!?! you spoiled the story by showing the footage of the guys saying the island is going to be nuked!?!?!
That reviled in the beginning so not really a spoiler
I'm okay with how the game is, but I wish it was more
just bought it for 14.99 on amazon for pc.
I loved the first game and i will love this even more once I buy it. Why?, because I can easily look past the technical problems and just enjoy what the game offers, might even download extra dlc. If i can find a pre-owned version for £25, it settled then.
Thanks "IAN HINCK" Durr
It was better than the first game, but once i finished it with my friend, i had no motivation to play it again.
it also has a sniper rifle and rocket launcher dont forget. every dang game i buy is a broken buggy mess so its almost to the point you have to except it. some of the last few games i bought that were just as broken but very fun, assassins creed 3, farcry 3, resident evil 6, even dead space 3 had a few issues with it
Expect it?! 🤣 Bruh, NO!!!
Good review!
I got this today for £1 for Xbox Series S and I'm loving it
Nuked!?

i really want a realistic zombie game, not this arcade-like game
Last of Us
GT reviewer: the game has quite a few surprises
Me: oh good
Reviewer: such as...
Me: smh, well they're not surprises if you just fucking reveal them
yes you are correct
The first was much better and innovative back in 2011. This should have been $30. Its WAY more of the same and that's not a good thing.
A GT app for the Xbox I didn't see that coming /sarcasm
This review is WAY too forgiving. It may be what Dead Island SHOULD have been, but since it wasn't and it's been rehashed, that deducts points rather than makes up.
Good one.
ps2 quality graphics.....thats exaggerating abit.
Seriously, have they played a ps2? I get it's an easy way to say the graphics are bad, but like
Liars*. And people are giving it way too much credit. This game definitely sucked. No wonder they dropped their price twice...lol. I myself give it about a 6. It's not that great and should have been DLC like the original plan was.
Damn those games are so damn boring... melee doesnt work well in 1st person and its extrenely repetitive and the quests are always so boring :s
Just bought it for £3.99 ps4
I completed 61 quests in in 27 hours
woot
Very buggy game
But of course. Publishers are greedy demons who RUSH the developer beyond human limits. They just don't give them enough time to test.
cinematics = crap
dialogue = crap
graphics = meh
= immersion ..... crap
combat = repetetive
innovation = next to nothing
everything looks the same ....no i will not buy this dlc disguising itself as a sequel
give me a good zombie game
the only good thing going for it is co-op
go get DayZ
dead island riptide ... doesnt really look that good man
