Thank you for sharing Erica!! I slowly transfered my smaller plants: Peace lilly, Red Anthurium, Red Aglaenoma, Wandering Jew, Pothos, Chinese Evergreen, and a Pilea Pepermoides baby to water, and some in sphagnum moss and I love both methods!! They look prettier to me in both mediums but more so in water!! I have them all under grow lights, I change the water at least once every other week, I water the moss plants when the moss starts to dry but I love your "hydrogen peroxide tip" and will be incorporating this!! And I been doing the tap water left out for 24-48hrs method for years and my plants have done well!! It's SO much more economical not having to buy potting soil, perlite etc!!❤️🥰🙏
Stupendous presentation! Your enthusiasm for your special "guys" shows your love of plants! Your voice is crystal clear making your salient suggestions easy to comprehend!!!!
I have had great success with my Monstereas growing in water . I was afraid at first but have given away 3. Super Thrive is a great vitamin and produces huge leaves. Thank you for the tips on the hydrogen peroxide. Oh thank you for sharing your super skills at planting .
Excellent information and very well explained. One of the best gardening input channel I have had the pleasure of listening to. Very useful and do able tips. Thank you
I love to grow plants in water. I put some schefflera stalks in two little apothecary bottles and sat them on the back of my stove to propagate them, with the intention of transfer to soil two years later they're still going strong in the bottles! I have cuttings of heart leaf philodendron, and various other plants in bottles everywhere. They are easy to maintain and move around ad I please. They look beautiful tucked i to baskets hanging on the wall, on window sills, etc....and no fungus gnats, which is the biggest plus for me!
I'm starting to have lots of success with water growing. Re the snake plant, if you cut a v shape at the bottom it is lest likely to rot and the root 'seem' to be stronger
I used to just change out the water frequently, but lately I've been mixing water and dish soap and then spraying all the plants with the mixture. Kills most of the bugs!
Interesting that you put sphagnum moss on top of leca and it works well. I use leca with some of my plants and have often thought it could be combined with other growing mediums that would suit the needs of some other plants I have. Thank you for the information you present so very well.
This was helpful! I have a peace lily in water getting roots but didn’t know I could keep it in water. I have several pothos plants of different varieties all growing beautifully in water. I have several snake plants as well but all in soil but I will try a cutting and put it in water. I had a Chinese evergreen but I couldn’t keep it alive once I put it in soil. I will know next time . Thanks for this video! New subscriber
Hello. Love you video! Can those plants LIVE in water? I means, soil is really challenging for me. I’m looking for plants that are happy in water. Thank you.
Hello Erica I wanted to ask you they will still live in dirt? Also what are the pebbles that you use? I just put them in dirt cause they rooted. Would you know much about xmas cactus?
Have you experimented with Maidenhair fern? I did but failed, that said, I got a pot of half dead maidenhair fern from Lowes at deeply discounted price. Cleaned the roots of soil, and submerged the 3/2 of the roots in water, 1/3 above water. The plant died a slow death .... Love to have your take on this plant, or other ferns.
I'm Watching you now ..I need help with my pot sizes ..I have a few to repot ..And I have no windows in either of my 2 bathrooms..what are good plants for the bathroom..Should I put one that grows in water or a potted plant..please help..I need to repot soon
They ARE more clean and easy to care for in my opinion lol I've got a peace lily absolutely thriving in my aquarium. All I really do is small water changes atleast once a week mainly for the shrimp living inside. On occasion I'll dose the whole tank with fertilizer but there's a few other plants it'll be helping too.
Absolutely the content I was looking for. I have started growing terrestrial plants out of my aquarium. One question I have how do you avoid mosquito from breeding if there are no fishes?
Monsterra is VERY forgiving with what the water level is, i had originally put my cuttings in a relatively large buvket and it would often slide completely into it but its doing just fine and the roots are flourishing
Just discovered your channel, you are wonderful, how often do you feed the plants you grow in water... I currently have a pothos, and a monstera adansonii... thanks for thoughts.
If I want to transfer a plant from growing in soil to growing in water, should I cut all the soil roots off? There's no root rot, I just want to try something new! I'm thinking of doing this for my snake plant and/or my fatsia japonica
Hi Erica, I know that Anthurium can be place outside in the summer time. If I change the Anthurium from soil to water, can I still place it outside in the summer?
so you change the water every now and then?? i have a kind of lucky bamboo growing in water and it's overall very happy. i just add water to it. I'm not crazy that the container , water is not all clean/clear. For some reason i thought it wouldn't be good to clear it all out and put it back in new water....your thoughts?? thank you. :->
Putting fresh water every now and then and clearing out old water is beneficial for the plant. But if your plant is happy the way it is and it works for you then I’m sure what you’re doing is fine 😊
I have a micans about 1 metre long, i transferred it to water about a week ago, but the leaves began yellowing and curling inwards, i'm really worried about what to do. I am not sure if its because of the lack of nutrients as it is a full long plant? I was thinking of cutting off the old root system and allowing it to regrow in water? What do you think?
For the monstera, the node can be in water. I have my monstera in water and she loves it. She’s next to a window where she gets full sun. Yes, I said full sun in a west facing window.
My question is do you ever transfer them to soil after a while? my understanding was that after a length of time they really thrive better in the soil medium although they can grow in just water for even a few years
Hi..nice to see your plants growing so good..I just wanna ask where I could avail of the fertilizers like the super thrive.. and the hydrogen peroxide. Thank you so much in advance. Happy plant parenting! 😊🌿
I have my monsera in water for a week now in water and i start noticing all the little roots had gone bad and the big ones is little bit in the ends is that ok mine also suffered from rotten roots
How much fertilizer do you use per gallon of water for your monstera that grows in leca. How many tsp of miracle grow do you use? And how often do you change the water and fertilize. Should u rinse out the leca when changing out the water?
Hi Erica, this is really interesting stuff! There are lots of ideas here for people with aquariums too.... The Alocasia at the end ; would the stem and leaves grow / survive being fully submerged / the run to the surface, or would you always need to keep the bulb right at the surface? Do they have like a submerged form that would survive if you planted a bulb with no stems/roots? Sorry, lots of random questions for you there! Thanks!
I really enjoy seeing what you grow in water. Your videos are so helpful and you present the information very well. Question: When you cut off the soil roots to grow water roots (like with the monstera), does that cause what remains of he plant to suffer from lack of water since there are no roots?
Thank you!😊 if you cut the roots the plant will stop growing for awhile until it can form water roots but it’s not going to suffer from lack of water. Soil roots are not used to absorbing water also in an all water environment so they’re not useful to the plant either when transitioning from soil to water 😊 hope that helps!
I’ve been growing my golden pothos in water and the roots are black/ brown because of algae, do you know how to remove them? Other than to gently clean the roots manually
Manually is probably the best. 😊 black or brown mushy roots could be root rot as well coz algae is usually green. You can try adding hydrogen peroxide to the water and see if it helps if it’s root rot that you’re facing. 😊
Rain water doesn’t have the chemicals that are put in tap water. Those chemicals build up in the soil and can harm the plant. That’s why she said to leave the tap water out for 24 hrs so things like chlorine can gas off.

I love the way you format/organize your videos!
Aww thank you! 😊
Thanks Erica, very informative! I'm just starting out on growing plants in water and have thoroughly enjoyed your video 👌👌👌👌
Great video! Been watching a lot of videos about this subject and this is the best one. I also love the gentle way you handle the plants.

Very nice monstera plants , great sharing , take care and see you later
I have an alocasia, and I just couldn't understand why I was losing a leaf each time it gets a new one... thanks for that explanation.
Thank you Erica on your informative video. I have almost all of those plants. May all of us grow in our relation to nature and the universe.
I adore Pothos, I take cuttings every year to keep mine tidy and like to propagate and give away.
So beautiful in water and healthy, those runners,
How plants think:
If you watering me too much i will rot, if you put me in water i will grow roots 🤯🥴
Plant logic 101 😑
I am big fan of water plants, just subscribed and hope I can keep my plants alive as per your advice LOL
Your videos are so helpful. Thank you! 😍
I like to see u recycling old bottles for your plants!👍yay.
I have enjoyed your videos on plants in water. 😊 How do you keep mosquitos out of the water with the plant?
I used to just change out the water frequently, but lately I've been mixing water and dish soap and then spraying all the plants with the mixture. Kills most of the bugs!
Excellent advice - really enjoying growing my plants in water. Bye bye soil !
Me too!
Me too!!
Thank you for a great video...for more light change your light bulbs to natural spectrum bulbs so when you have them on they will get light.
This video is helpful especially to me because I’m just a beginner to start planting in water Thank you

Every plant can grow in water! Even cactus!
Hello. Love you video! Can those plants LIVE in water? I means, soil is really challenging for me. I’m looking for plants that are happy in water. Thank you.
Thanks for all the tips. I don’t have much luck with soil. Where did you get the small black container you have the plants in the jars
When changing the water , do I put a couple of drops of hydrogen peroxide in it every time, and is it necessary for the ivy plants?
Delightful! Thanks for all the great info!

Super thrive for new cuttings and Miracle grow for mature plants in water ☺️ it’s linked in my Amazon store front!
Thank you ma'am. Very educative. For how long can those plants be left growing in water?

Glad to see you back Erica. Recently I was just thinking about you and almost DM you. Hope you are doing well. Have a very happy New Year darling ❤️🎆
Thank you Irene! ❤️ Happy New Year to you and your family too! 🎉 Stay safe and healthy! 😊
thank you so much for sharing I will have to try the Leica ball❤

I think if it has no rot, you can just gently pull all the soil off then gently rinse the soil off so it's nice clean.
Hi Erica, I know that Anthurium can be place outside in the summer time. If I change the Anthurium from soil to water, can I still place it outside in the summer?

I love your videos - thank you! Would the prayer plant, dumb cane, croton, and song of india also thrive planted in water?
sitting still in the water, any root rot problem occurs?
